Pentos secretly leaves the Ambrose estate at night to meet with Ethan and Rina. Rina confronts Pentos, revealing that his family, the Ambrose family, wiped out hers. Ethan and Rina then demand that Pentos help them destroy the Ambrose family's legacy, giving him the option to start anew.

Those words sounded simple, but Pentos understood what they meant.

The Ambrose Family would no longer exist.

Its wealth, influence, name and position would all disappear. Even if some members survived, they would no longer be Ambrose.

Pentos looked toward Ethan.

Ethan had remained silent throughout the conversation. He simply watched Pentos with a calm expression, as if giving him time to understand the weight of the decision before him.

Pentos lowered his head again.

"My Lord... if I do this, will the remaining members be allowed to live?"

Ethan finally spoke.

"Those who have not taken part in the things Ambrose has done will not be needlessly harmed."

Pentos's expression relaxed slightly.

"But the people who have committed those acts?"

Ethan's eyes became cold.

"They will answer for what they did."

Pentos understood. There would be no mercy for the people who had spent generations using their influence to harm others.

He took a slow breath and then nodded.

"I understand."

Rina leaned back slightly.

"You have been living under Ambrose for a long time. You know their people better than anyone here."

Pentos gave a bitter smile.

"That is true."

"Then use that knowledge."

Rina's voice became firm.

"Find the people who are responsible. Separate them from the ones who can still be saved. Do not let personal feelings interfere with your judgment."

Pentos lowered his gaze.

He knew this would not be easy.

The Ambrose Family had been his home for most of his life, even if he had never truly belonged to the people at the top.

But now he had been given a choice.

Continue carrying the name that had already become a burden, or cut it away and survive.

After a long silence, Pentos finally raised his head.

"I will do it."

Rina nodded.

"Good."

Ethan looked at Pentos for a moment before speaking.

"Remember, Pentos. I am not asking you to destroy everyone simply because they carry the Ambrose name."

Pentos listened carefully.

"I want the people responsible for the suffering to be dealt with. Those who are innocent can leave. But the Ambrose Family itself must end."

Pentos slowly nodded.

"Understood, My Lord."

Ethan leaned back slightly and then looked at Pentos with a more serious expression.

"My Lord, Ambrose had two Transcendent Rank and one Saint Realm knight, followed by several minor forces."

Ethan and Rina's expressions changed when they heard this.

Ethan's brows tightened.

"You have two?"

"Yes. One is the current head, and the other one was an Ancestor, though he is quite old and his powers might have regressed quite a bit due to a certain injury."

Ethan's expression became more serious.

He had expected Ambrose to have strong forces, but two Transcendent Rank experts were still troublesome.

He glanced at Rina before looking back at Pentos.

"What about other families?"

"All heads are Transcendent Knights. I don't know if they have hidden others."

Pentos paused before continuing in a cautious voice.

"My Lord, you need to be careful. For an Empire, this type of strength might not be enough, but if you act alone, you might be besieged by several Transcendent Knights from all around."

Ethan's face tightened.

He slowly raised his hand and grabbed his throbbing head.

He had already been dealing with one problem after another, and now another headache had appeared.

"This is gonna be troublesome."

Pentos remained silent.

Rina glanced at Ethan and could not help but sigh softly.

The plan that had seemed simple a moment ago was becoming much more difficult.

Taking down Ambrose was one thing.

Doing it while avoiding a conflict with the other three great families was another.

And Ethan had no intention of turning the entire Empire upside down just to settle an old grudge.

Ethan rubbed his forehead again and looked at Pentos.

"Tell me everything you know. We need to understand exactly what we are dealing with before making a move."

Pentos nodded and slowly took out several documents from his storage ring. He placed them on the table one after another, and Ethan leaned forward to look at them. Rina also moved closer, her expression becoming serious as she looked over the information.

"There are three things you need to understand about Ambrose," Pentos said while pointing at the first document. "Their direct forces are not the only problem. Their real strength is their network."

He opened another document.

"They have merchants, banks, trade groups and people working inside different cities. Even if you destroy the main family, some of those people might try to hide their connection and continue operating."

Ethan frowned as he looked through the reports.

"So cutting off their head won't immediately end their influence."

"Exactly."

Pentos pointed toward another list.

"These are the major branches. Some are completely loyal to the main family, while others only cooperate because they benefit from it. If the main family falls, many of them will probably try to save themselves."

Rina tapped the table lightly.

"Then those are the people we can use."

Pentos looked at her and nodded.

"Yes. Some of them already have complaints against the main family. They have been forced to hand over a large part of their profits for years."

Ethan remained quiet while reading.

The more he looked, the more complicated the situation became.

Ambrose was not simply a family sitting inside one estate.

It was a huge network that had spread across the Empire.

Taking down the main family would only be the beginning.

"What about their hidden forces?" Ethan asked.

Pentos immediately became cautious.

"There are several groups that don't appear on any public records. I don't know their exact numbers."

"You don't know?"

"I have never been allowed to approach them. Even many members of the family don't know about their existence."

Ethan leaned back.

"Then how do you know they exist?"

Pentos hesitated before answering.

"Because I have seen people come and go from places that are supposed to be empty. Some of them were carrying weapons and wearing the same insignia, but they never showed themselves publicly."

Rina's eyes narrowed.

"Do you know where they are?"

"I know some of the locations."

Pentos took out another map and spread it across the table.

"There are at least three places that I am certain about. There may be more."

Ethan looked at the marked locations.

"Good. Don't touch them yet."
