Demonic Po*nstar System Chapter 1022: Human Farm

Kaiden Grey stared at Mizuno’s empty clothes in the depot’s loading yard. A moment ago, a vampire had been dying inside them. Now Alice couldn’t find even a trace of the spell that had killed her.
"Could whoever did that reach the others?" Alexandra asked from behind her barrier.
Kaiden turned toward the survivors gathered around his protector. Toru was still holding his phone, though he had stopped speaking into it.
"Alice?"
The halo brightened above his head as his sister examined the people on the ramp.
"I can’t feel anything pulling at them. But I couldn’t feel that spell before it reached her, either."
Alexandra kept her gold around the patients while Sonoda spoke urgently to the lieutenant. Medical personnel came forward with stretchers, and the analyst translated the family’s warning before anyone approached the discarded clothes.
A healer stopped in front of Kaiden with a clean dressing in her hand. She looked at the blood covering his mouth, then down at the hand Mizuno had bitten.
"Please allow me to heal you."
"It’s healed. The blood’s hers."
The woman’s eyes widened. "Hers... Yes. Of course."
She lowered the dressing, still staring at his lips. Beside the ambulance, a soldier was trying to explain the fight to the driver in increasingly excited Japanese.
"He bit her back! Look, that’s him! He drank until she couldn’t even stand!"
"The human drank the vampire’s blood?"
"I was standing right here! She was screaming for someone to get him off her!"
Kaiden glanced at the chat still racing through his interface.
- DepotWatch: SHE BEGGED HIM TO STOP! I’M LOSING MY FUCKING MIND!
- StormMain: He sucked a vampire dry. Ladies, take notes.
- Thirst247: Bruh if a chick sucks me like that I’ll die.
- StormMain: Best way to go out.
- Thirst247: She didn’t seem to enjoy it.
- StormMain: Women wouldn’t get it.
- Thirst247: ...You have a point.
Millions had watched a vampire sink her fangs into a human, only for him to grab her head and feed on her until she went limp. People were replaying the moment her kicks stopped while others were still asking whether vampires were real.
Kaiden killed his stream after saying he had to conduct a cleanup. Aria and the other Valkyries followed him off the broadcast.
The world had seen plenty. The survivors could have their examinations without an audience.
...
The cellar entrance was behind a warehouse, beneath a loading stair. Toru pointed it out before the medical team took him to an ambulance.
Kaiden descended with his family and Sonoda while soldiers checked the rooms ahead. Alexandra joined them after handing her patients over to the healers outside.
"They’re free of her now," she told him. "But they’re terribly weak. The doctors are examining them."
"Maybe they’ll learn more of what the fuck just happened..." Luna muttered.
"That’s the hope." Nyx nodded to Luna. For once, she was not purring at her friend.
At the bottom of the stairs, a soldier opened a steel door and stepped aside for the family. Sonoda raised a hand over her nose.
"Oh, that’s disgusting," Luna cursed, using her sleeves to cover her nostrils.
Kaiden could smell the blood before he saw the chairs.
They stood along the tiled wall, each fitted with straps across the chest and thighs. Narrow armrests ended in cuffs, with stained tubing coiled in trays beneath them. A drain ran along the floor between the chairs and a row of empty collection containers.
One of the soldiers lifted a lamp. Its light caught ragged fingernail marks on an armrest.
"She brought them down here to feed," Calypso said.
"She could drink straight from a person, though," Alexandra replied.
Nyx crouched beside a tray without touching it. "She could store the blood for later. Like a fridge full of food. Or give it to someone else."
"She seemed to have been caught off guard by our speed of clearing the last few dungeons," Aria noted. "If we were late, all these people..." She didn’t finish the sentence.
Beyond the chairs, a second door opened onto a room divided by metal bars. Thin mattresses covered the floors of the pens. Water bottles stood beside shallow food bowls, and a bundle of used dressings had been pushed through one set of bars into the passage.
Alexandra stopped beside him.
"She was feeding them just enough to keep doing it."
Kaiden looked from the bowls to the room behind them. She could bleed her captives in the chairs, lock them in the pens to recover, then strap them down again once they had something left to take.
The bitch had called that saving them.
"Yeah. This is a human farm."
"My lord." Sonoda stood by an open pen, looking through its bars toward the next. "There is considerably more space here than they needed for the group we found."
"Could the others still be in the buildings?" Aria asked.
Sonoda relayed the question to the soldiers. Their lieutenant answered from the doorway, then spoke into his radio.
"The search is continuing, my lady. They’re checking every cellar."
Bastet studied a dark smear running from a chair to the drain. "How many might she have taken elsewhere before we arrived?"
Kaiden stepped back to let a soldier photograph the chair. "Could you have someone find the van she wanted to leave in?"
"They’re already looking for the vehicle, my lord."
Sonoda took a call from headquarters, then turned to Kaiden.
"Lady Yunohana asks whether your family could join her there to speak with the investigators once you’re done here."
"Of course. We have questions too."
...
By the time the convoy reached the Shogunate Circle’s Tokyo headquarters, Kaiden had washed Mizuno’s blood from his mouth and changed out of his torn shirt.
Sonoda led them toward the elevators while heads turned across the lobby. At a nearby desk, a young woman in a fitted Circle uniform caught her colleague’s sleeve.
"That’s him," she whispered in Japanese. "He’s here."
"I can see him!"
"His teeth look normal."
Her colleague leaned around her for a better look. "They were normal when he did it too! He just held her there and kept sucking!"
Kaiden couldn’t follow their hurried conversation, but both women were staring at him. He smiled as he passed their desk.
The first girl clapped a hand over her neck.
"Huh?" He stopped beside her, amused.
Her pretty face went scarlet. She snatched her hand away and folded into a perfect ninety-degree bow toward him.
"I’m so sorry, Lord Grey! Please forgive me!"
"It’s alright."
"I didn’t mean- I know you’re not-"
Her colleague pressed both hands over her mouth. Luna had given up trying to contain her laughter, and Nyx leaned against the gremlin, giggling along with her.
Alexandra stepped beside the bowed girl and gently patted her head.
"Please don’t worry. He’s not upset with you."
The girl straightened beneath the blonde’s hand, still red to her ears. "I’m sorry..."
As the family moved on, the receptionist’s colleague finally lowered her hands.
"You covered your neck! In front of him!"
"I know! Please stop!"
Aria hugged Kaiden’s arm as they continued toward the elevators, her own giggles warm against his shoulder.
"My poor Kai."
"You don’t sound very sorry for me."
"I’m trying~"
"The yandere chick is digging how the other chicks looked at you now," Calypso translated for her Darling.
"A lot of depraved chicks would absolutely adore a vampire boyfriend, though," Luna mused.
"I refuse to believe that there are women who thought what Kai did was sexy," Alexandra contested. "I get some might find a dangerous, blood-sucking vampire boyfriend appealing, but he literally immobilized her within seconds..."
