The protagonist escapes a dangerous situation and heads towards an underground prison cell. Meanwhile, the Head of Prison Island, Muriel, detects a disturbance and returns to investigate. She sweeps the area with her mental power, while the protagonist narrowly avoids detection. Muriel proceeds to the underground prison, silencing the noisy prisoners with her power before checking on the imprisoned Forbidden Wizard Erwin.

Prison Island

Elder Muriel began to work. She had come to the place where the magic inscriptions started. She used her magic artifact to check the power of the restrictions.

Meanwhile,

Inside the control mirror, I saw no changes outside. But it didn’t mean that the outside was safe. I saw the black streak of light earlier.

It was none other than an Elder Level Powerhouse. Apart from Elder Dana back in the Silver Tower, I had never seen another one, especially when travelling outside.

I think I had underestimated the Covenant Organization. If they have such Elder Level Wizards among them, then they can really trouble the Mage Union.

After collecting my thoughts, I asked the system once again. The system results said that it was safe outside now. No mental power was detected.

Swoosh!

Then I appeared outside alone. I immediately looked around me. Seeing that the vast terrain was empty, I then resumed my goal.

I rushed towards the prison cell, speeding fast and quickly covering the distance. Following the markings Hank had drawn, I got closer towards the final mark.

Finally, I saw a structure ahead. The structure’s walls were huge, and it seemed like a well. When I got closer, I realised that it was really a well-like structure.

Only the mouth of the well was huge. Then I used the system to probe the place.

[Ding! Prison cell is detected. Hundreds of Wizards are imprisoned inside.]

[Ding! An Elder Level Wizard was found in the deepest part doing an inspection.]

I heard the system’s voice in my mind. Then the whole picture became clear. She had come here to investigate.

So she started by inspecting the prison itself. Like Otto said earlier, no other wizards dared to come near the prison cell.

No one was in my sight. Then I turned towards the well entrance. I thought there was no need to hurry. I believed she would leave sooner or later.

An Elder Level Powerhouse must have other work to do on the main island. My eyes flashed with a glint.

Then I appeared inside the system space. I brought it to the control mirror next. I gave instructions to watch over the entrance.

The zero puppet obeyed the order. In the meantime, I decided to take a rest. I was not going to practice; instead, I was going to take a nap on the floor.

Time passed.

The wizards all over the island were in a state of panic. A few of them spotted the black streak of light entering the prison island sometime before.

The news quickly spread to others. It didn’t take long for everyone on the island to know about it. They were worried that the Prison Head might take her anger out on them.

As time passed, they were puzzled. It had been several hours since her arrival, but she had not summoned them once.

They didn’t know what to expect except to keep following the daily routine. They were doing continuous patrols around the island’s edge.

Meanwhile, inside the prison cells, everything had quieted down. Not even the sound of breathing could be heard.

They all knew that crazy woman was here. She had not left the prison cell since then. Many of them died at her hands because of torture.

They would have preferred dying by the self-destruction of their mana cores, but the prison cell was different. The Elder Level magic restrictions could sense such changes.

The power would strike them before they could self-destruct, so they were completely stuck here.

Unless the crazy woman lets you out by herself, you cannot leave the place on your own. There is another way: if you are an Elder Level Powerhouse yourself, then you can break the restrictions easily.

On the other hand, Elder Muriel had completed half the work. She had not found the triggered area, but she knew it would be a matter of time before she found the exact spot.

She did not inform her colleagues about it, because the restrictions could be triggered by other phenomena and need not be the work of trespassers.

What’s more, if the restrictions were triggered by an Elder Level Powerhouse, then the response would have been even bigger. So she ruled out the chance of an Elder Level Wizard coming to her island.

She then resumed her work.

....

Gregor Mansion

I had summoned the others and briefed them. Knowing that they were next to the underground prison cell, everyone was worried now.

They knew they were inside some space treasure held by their Master, but they didn’t know whether the Elder Level Powerhouse could see through it.

At the same time, I saw through their thoughts. They were worried about facing the Elder Level Powerhouse.

Both Elder Caitlin and old man Rock showed their concern against the Forbidden Wizards. It was a whole new level above them.

The Elder Level Powerhouse was something even above the Forbidden Wizards. It was totally natural for them to be scared.

"Don’t worry. I have decided not to go outside until the Elder Level Wizard leaves the prison island," I said to them.

"How do you know?" Lady Caitlin asked.

"The Elder Level Wizard can cover the whole island with mental power without any effort. If you appear outside, then it will be noticed by her," she added.

Hearing that, I smiled. She didn’t know about the system and its capabilities.

"I have a way. Trust me. You guys can now leave. I will call you when I need your help." After saying that, I went back to the control room.

Lady Caitlin watched my back. It was true that she was scared of the Elder Level Powerhouse, but it was also a fact that she was worried about the young man.

She didn’t know whether the young man was truly confident or reckless. The slightest mistake could take his life along with the others.

Otto, Patrick, and the others left the place.

Like the others, she then went back to her room.

I looked at the control mirror. The red smoke was hovering next to me. It was going to be morning soon. I didn’t know what the Elder Level Powerhouse was doing.

Was she waiting for the intruder to appear? With her power, it was easy to tell whether any wizards had trespassed into the place.

I shook my head and continued to monitor the mirror with patience.
