Meng Yuexin was shocked by Lith's power, and they descended to a new layer of the prison. This layer was a dangerous flower field surrounded by soulless cultivators wielding blades. Lith managed to protect them from an immediate attack and they proceeded through a metallic door, discussing Lith's world and his mother's incredible power. They entered a new corridor filled with doors and triggered a trap, summoning a monster. Lith felt a strange resonance with one particular door, despite a whistling sound guiding him away.

"Took you long enough, my dear."

A familiar melodic voice rang in Lith’s ears within the darkness, making his heart beat even faster.

This voice, this was the one he would never forget even upon his death!

Someone snapped their fingers and within the darkness, an oil lamp was lit up, providing a mellow brightness all around.

Right in front of Lith, two figures sat around a lamp.

One was so beautiful that the entirety of star systems like Shen Ze would suffer through massive bloodshed, simply to have a glance at her.

The other looked similar to this lady, but a bit more mature and calm. Her gaze was serene while her face exuded an odd sense of satisfaction.

Both beauties were silver-haired. Though, one possessed amethyst-like purple eyes while the other had bright ruby red ones.

"Mom?" Lith’s emotions stirred and the blood connection within boiled in resonance.

If what he was looking at was an illusion, then it was far too real.

As far as he knew, there was no illusion which could replicate the blood connection. It was a Vampire’s innate ability, not to mention Lith and his mother had pretty strong bloodlines in all of Shen Ze.

Having not seen her for so long, Lith was in quite the disbelief.

"So that’s my grandson you keep talking about..." Another melodic voice rang out in Lith’s ears.

"Fufufu... that’s him." Lilith commented while looking in Lith’s direction.

Lith felt somewhat emotional, having not seen his mother for so long.

Though, he was a man now and knew how to keep himself in check.

He walked towards her and Lilith stood up and began walking in his direction too.

The scent of roses filled his nose and brought a sense of calm as she neared him.

"My baby~" Lilith let out a soft chuckle and hugged Lith.

For her, not a long time had passed.

But for Lith, it felt long. Severely long.

He embraced her firmly and rested his head on her shoulder.

Through the blood connection, Lilith could feel the melancholy and happiness of her son. It was as if he had longed for this for a long time.

"It still feels unreal, embracing you like this." Lith commented.

Lilith caressed his back and planted a soft kiss on his neck. "It’s all real, baby. This is not a dream."

Feeling her warmth for a few more seconds, Lith broke the hug and held her face, about to give her a kiss.

Lilith had a slight flicker of hesitation flash in her eyes, but it was too late.

Lith leaned in and kissed her soft, supple lips.

The familiar sweetness of her saliva and the rosy taste was back. He was really home. This definitely wasn’t a dream.

Hesitation still lay within Lilith’s eyes, a sight never seen before.

Though, it was only for a brief moment. She closed her eyes and roamed her hands on Lith’s back, kissing him back with great fervor. They both missed each other greatly and their longing was felt in the passion of their swirling tongues.

A few feet behind them, the silver-haired lady with red eyes covered her mouth and gasped softly, quite in shock. Though she didn’t say anything so as to not ruin the couple’s reunion bonding.

A minute later, Lith’s hands moved down from Lilith’s back, right onto her waist.

Lilith’s eyes snapped open and before his hands went further down, she broke the kiss and took a step back.

She cleared her throat and said while turning to the side, "My dear, let’s save our reunion for later. Come here, meet your grandma first."

Lith’s emotions weren’t in the right place and he totally forgot about the lady sitting silently in the room.

This was his grandmother!

His grandmother for goodness’s sake!

The very lady who sacrificed herself for his mother!

Wait...

Something wasn’t right.

Sacrificed herself for her mother’s survival...

Lith rubbed his eyes and squinted them, trying to get a better look at his grandmother.

Seated by the oil lamp’s brightness, the silver-haired, red-eyed lady with mature bearings, looking no older than someone in their late 30s, gestured for Lith to come closer.

There was a faint but gentle smile on her unblemished face.

Lith went towards her and looked at her from head to toe.

"Grandma?" Lith asked in disbelief. "Are you really my grandmother? Lauren Evure, granduncle Aegis Evure’s sister?"

Lauren let out a soft chuckle and turned to Lilith, gesturing for her to come closer.

Lilith nodded and did as her mother asked.

Though, it was to be noted that this was the strongest being here, who was following commands like an obedient child.

Other than her children, there was no one else in existence who could’ve made her follow commands so obediently.

Well, it was, up until now.

As Lilith stood beside Lauren, the older lady got up and glued her face with Lilith’s from the side.

"Does this clarify your doubts, my child?"

Honestly, looking at them, Lith was a bit dumbfounded. He didn’t know what to make of this situation.

Meanwhile, Lilith was also slightly dumbfounded. She was just as clueless as Lith.

Her entire life, she never knew what it meant to have a mother, that’s why she strived to be the best mother possible for her children and give them all the love and care.

Though, being a mother herself and having a mother both felt completely different.

Lilith wasn’t someone who would get flustered easily, but today was a bit different.

She was in the presence of her mother and her son.

One party did not exist her whole life while the other party knew her for a long time, inside out, figuratively and literally. It was slightly awkward.

Lilith decided to stay silent in this interaction and just observe. Nobody would know what she was feeling if she did that.

That’s the way it should be.

Meanwhile, Lith knitted his brows.

"To be honest, I still can’t tell. You look more like mom’s big sister if anything."

Lauren’s smile slightly widened. She let Lilith go and shook her head. "You sure know your way with words, sweet child. Come here, let grandma have a proper look at you first."

Lith went up to her and Lauren placed her hand on his shoulders.

Lauren was just as tall as Lith. It was to be noted that being tall ran in the family. Not all Vampires in the Evure God Clan were as tall, so it mostly had to do with Lauren’s good genes in itself.

"You’ve grown to be such a fine young man. Though, aren’t you a tad bit too mature for your age?" Lauren commented.

From what she knew about Lith from Lilith, he wasn’t even a thousand years old yet.

He couldn’t even be called a proper adult. Being called a young adult was a more fitting term.

But, despite the lack of age, his eyes spoke of experience and his aura felt calm and confident, almost like one saw in seasoned cultivators.

"I’ll take that as a compliment. Thank you." Lith replied with a slight smile.

Lauren smiled back and gently kissed Lith’s forehead.

She was happy to see him, and even more happy with his behavior.

Lilith eventually meddled in and asked everyone to have a seat.

Once everyone settled down, Lith asked what was on his mind for so long.

"So... mom... what exactly are you doing here? In the Evure God Clan’s prison of all places."

The question caused Lilith’s eyes to dim. Her gaze turned sharp and she clenched her fists, containing her rage within.

From the side, Lauren took Lilith’s hand and gently caressed it, trying to ease her emotions.

Lilith sighed. "Do you remember telling me about your encounter with your uncle?"

Lith nodded. "I do."

"Well, I didn’t know I had a mother until that point." Lilith said.

She truly didn’t.

She may be the strongest but she wasn’t omniscient. Being omniscient came at a serious cost and she did not wish to pay it. The return on such an investment was negligible for someone like her.

"Once I learnt of her, I began searching for clues related to her so I could know more about her life. Eventually, I found something which made me leave the Royal Castle immediately."

"So it was this business which kept you contactless from me and Lucy?" Lith asked.

Lilith nodded. "This was important because—"

Lilith felt her hand get squeezed by Lauren.

Looking at the side, she saw Lauren shaking her head, asking her not to say what she was just about to say.

Lith frowned. "Because what, mom? You seem to be hiding something from me."

Lilith sighed as she heard that.

On one side, there was her mother asking her not to divulge things but on the other side, there was her son who was her whole world, and in front of whom she kept no secrets.

"Mom..." Lith leaned forward and held Lilith’s other hand and gave it a gentle squeeze. "Will divulging this information harm me or put any of us in danger?"

"What?" Lilith was taken aback by the comment. "Absolutely not. There’s no such power or thing in the world that can put you or your sister in harm’s way as long as I exist. Why would you think of that?"

Lith was baffled by the statement. But right now wasn’t the time to be thinking about his mother’s power. Instead, he asked back, "Then what’s making you not say it to me?"

"That..." Lilith turned to look at her mother.

Lauren’s eyes were somewhat empty. She seemed to be wanting to avoid this conversation.

Lilith felt pained looking at that.

"Mother, I’ve never kept a secret from my baby. And I feel... he has the right to know it. Please, let’s trust him on this and not keep him in the dark." Lilith urged in a low yet soft tone.

Lauren was silent for a minute.

She then closed her eyes and leaned back on the chair, saying, "Children shouldn’t suffer in adult matters. I do not wish to bring unnecessary suffering upon my grandchild. But, given how he broke into the clan’s prison and reached this deep... he would’ve found out the truth on his own anyway had you not arrived before him."

Lilith nodded. "That’s right. He would’ve found it out anyway."

Lauren sighed. "Go ahead. Tell him. Whatever happens from here on out... those people brought it upon themselves..."
