Brandon revealed the truth of his five hundred years spent in the past, explaining his connection to Rheanne and the events that led to his unusual circumstances. Meanwhile, Eira and others expressed their desire to learn more about Brandon's past, leading to a lively discussion about how to accommodate everyone for a late-night talk. Brandon later confided in Naevora, sharing the hardships he endured and finding solace in her presence.

After a moment Naevora moved closer on the bed, raised her hand, and ruffled his longer hair.

Her fingers pushed through the dark strands, undoing what remained of the bun, before settling loosely against the back of his head.

A faint smile touched Brandon’s lips, and he leaned into her ruffle without resistance.

Seeing this, a quiet chuckle escaped her lips, and she wrapped her arm around his shoulder, pulling him closer.

"You must be stronger than me now, right? Do you even need a Master anymore?"

He let out a low chuckle and turned his head just enough to rest his cheek against her shoulder.

"Stronger?" he murmured. "Maybe. In raw power, yes. In the things that matter..."

He tilted his face upward, meeting her gaze with that same shameless half-smile she had always hated and never quite managed to scold out of him.

"I still need my Master."

Naevora gave the back of his head a light, reprimanding pull.

"You’re still the same brat. Just... a bit taller. And apparently quite divine now."

Her thumb brushed along the nape of his neck almost absent-mindedly. "I still... don’t fully understand this whole time-travel stuff, but I am glad nothing happened to you."

Brandon shifted closer, sliding an arm around her waist so they were properly leaning into each other on the bed.

"I know it sounds ridiculous... Others were stoned when I told them the full truth."

A soft breath escaped his lips "But yeah... I am also very glad that I was able to come back. I missed you so much, Master."

She glanced down at him and saw the maturity in his face.

For her right now, he is the only one very close to her... someone she can call family.

Naevora’s eyes traced the faint lines at the corners of his eyes and the quieter weight in his gaze that wasn’t there a week ago.

It made something tighten in her chest.

She reached up, letting her fingers slide into his hair again.

Brandon’s arm tightened around her waist, and he moved again, this time turning more fully toward her so that his chest pressed against her side.

Without saying anything, he lowered his head and rested his face against the soft swell of her breast.

Naevora’s body stiffened for half a second out of pure reflex.

"You- already?" she muttered, but her hand stayed in his hair instead of pushing him away.

His breath was warm through the cloth. "Missed this too."

Naevora’s eye twitched, but the corner of her mouth betrayed her.

She looked down at the top of his head buried against her and felt that same complicated warmth she always did with him.

"...Fine. Just a little."

---

A few minutes later, soft footsteps approached from the hallway.

Rheanne peeked inside the open doorway.

When she saw Brandon and Naevora sitting close together on the bed, a gentle smile touched her lips and she stepped inside without hesitation.

Naevora reacted instantly and stood up quickly, putting a clear half-step of distance between herself and Brandon.

Brandon stood up more slowly and gestured between them with an easy smile.

"Master... this is Rheanne. The one I told you about."

He turned slightly toward the goddess "Rheanne, this is Naevora. My Master."

Rheanne’s eyes softened, and she stopped in front of Naevora and pulled her into a warm, sincere hug.

"I’ve heard so much about you. He spoke of you often in the past. Thank you... for taking care of him all this time."

Naevora’s body went stiff the second those arms wrapped around her.

Her hands hovered awkwardly in the air for a second before she reluctantly returned the hug, patting Rheanne’s back with the stiff formality.

"...You’re welcome," she managed to mutter.

When Rheanne finally released her, Naevora took a small step back, trying to reclaim some composure.

She didn’t expect the Goddess herself to come to the house like that.

Smiling, Rheanne asked "Well, if you don’t mind, can I borrow Kael for a little?"

Naevora quickly nodded "Go ahead."

Rheanne turned to Brandon and held out a hand. "Come with me for a moment."

Brandon reached out and gave Naevora’s wrist a light, familiar squeeze as he passed before taking Rheanne’s hand.

"I’ll be back, Master."

"Mhm." Naevora hummed with a faint smile on her lips.

As they left, Naevora let out a deep breath ’That was nerve-wracking... she appeared out of nowhere.’

---

Rheanne pulled him farther down the quiet hallway until the soft voices from the rest of the house faded behind them.

The moment they were alone she stepped in close and wrapped her arms around him, pressing her face into the curve of his neck the way she had done so many times in the past when words felt insufficient.

Brandon’s hands came up automatically and hugged her back "You disappeared right after we got back to the house. Where did you go?"

Rheanne kissed his neck for a moment before replying "I received an urgent summon from the council so I went to the God Realm."

"You were busy with the others, so I didn’t want to disturb you."

Brandon frowned slightly, noticing the seriousness in her tone "What happened?"

Rheanne’s gaze lowered in thought "A Higher Divinity is preparing to descend into our cluster."

Upon hearing this, his eyes narrowed further "...A Higher Divinity?"

He spent decades among divinities, so he knows the hierarchy better than most mortals ever would.

Usually, Lesser Divinities ascend through the concentrated belief of a single world’s people.

That’s the path Rheanne took and the path Freya, Scylla, Camille, Selene and Lisette followed after her.

As for Elder Divinities, they require the beliefs of billions across many worlds, an ocean of worship vast enough to push them beyond the limits of a Lesser Divinity.

But Higher Divinities...

Those are different.

You could not simply ascend to that seat through belief, no matter how many worlds prayed to your name.

Higher Divinities... are like Primordial Gods.

They govern laws and concepts in this universe.

There is a hierarchy even among those Higher Divinties based on age, authority, and the breadth of the laws they govern.

Why would such an entity come to their cluster of worlds?
