"Did the beetle already change, young master?" Elias asked while looking inside the box where the remnants of a battle were present.

There were two dead bodies of the millipedes they had procured some time ago. And the beetle was on one of them, munching little pieces to eat.

Its fine black exterior now had green patches to it.

"Its size increased too, Elias. We will now go to the next evolution potential as soon as possible." Theo muttered. "By the end of this month, I want a beetle that comes close to the height of our mantis." He stated.

At that moment, Elias only nodded. It was the plan from the very start that their main goal was to increase the size of the insects they wanted to sell, with iterations to their abilities in the process.

"Also, watch this." Theo spoke with a grin before he moved his focus toward the beetle, and his eyes closed automatically while he was still standing.

Elias knew what Theo was doing, so he tried his best to support him.

Right now, Theo was in a dark space where his consciousness was floating.

He moved forward and soon saw the face of the beetle.

’We meet again.’ Theo spoke, making the beetle not react at all.

Theo decided to show the beetle what had happened to the mantis through experience, as he had done that a lot with the mantis and the Ant Queen, and now even the hive members sometimes.

The beetle saw the journey of the mantis getting bigger and bigger until, finally, it saw its biggest form, and there, Theo felt a few emotions.

At that moment, he hit the beetle with new images of what the beetle looked like to him before and how small it was. And now, after the evolution, what its size was.

The beetle’s intelligence was not high, but these were things beasts could understand instinctively.

Then Theo felt like it was time for the main course. He showed it an imaginary image of the beetle so big that Theo could sit on it.

That was when the beetle showed emotions it hadn’t before.

Theo knew it was not because he was sitting on its back in that imaginary image but because of how big it was in it.

The beetle went back to not thinking about anything again.

And Theo kept sending new images of how it could become bigger with his help without having to be tamed.

And after making it interested again, Theo gave it an order through the new taming space.

"All right, look at what it will do now." Theo spoke and sighed. Communicating with an insect that had little intelligence was always taxing and time-consuming.

"I have heard people make contact with a beast through the new tame space, but I never realized it could be used like this, young master." Elias muttered as he looked at the beetle.

The beetle went to the body of the millipede to the side, and then its blackish-green body opened, allowing the delicate-looking wings to come out.

It sped toward the ceiling of the box before proficiently moving its legs onto the big millipede.

Under both Theo’s and Elias’s gaze, the beetle latched onto the millipede and moved its wings even faster until they both saw the millipede’s dead body being lifted from the middle.

It came to the point where only both ends were left on the ground before the beetle moved even further up and the millipede was fully in the air.

"What in the artifact’s name..." Elias spoke in horror as he saw a small insect with tiny wings carrying the body of such a large insect.

The beetle, without any struggle, went from corner to corner without any sign of losing the millipede.

After only the third round did the beetle finally unlatch from the millipede, making it fall onto the ground of the box with a small .

The beetle could not fly any farther, and it quickly moved toward the box’s wall where Theo was standing.

It went and hit the wall with a thud, making Elias instinctively flinch forward to protect Theo, only to remember again that Theo was stronger than him now.

The beetle stayed there on the wall, and Theo moved closer. The beetle tapped its right foreleg multiple times, and Theo moved his smallest finger toward the leg and tapped it too.

A few seconds later, the beetle flew again and went back to the millipede to eat some more, making Theo chuckle.

"As you can see, it can hold many times its own body weight and still fly with it. It could only take three laps around the box for now, but with time, it will be able to travel much farther, Elias." Theo explained.

"Once it becomes bigger, I will use it like those griffins and wyverns. A way of transport."

When Elias heard that, he made a thoughtful "Hmm" before speaking up. "But with those transport beasts, a tamer is always seated on them to navigate. With the beetles you are talking about, no such tamer will be able to travel on them, young master." Elias said, making Theo nod.

"That is true. We will have to think about it, Elias. Our plans changed a little anyway. This was supposed to be a defensive beast, but it changed into one for transport. We will have to see what we can do with it." Theo said, taking a big stretch before he went and lay down on the bed.

’Mantis, are you awake?’ Theo asked, getting no response. He went into the beast space only to see the mantis sleeping soundly.

Theo sighed again. Lately, the mantis had been sleeping a lot as if it had become lazy.

And it was partly Theo’s fault, as the mantis couldn’t get out much in the academy and couldn’t go hunting either because all the forests around were owned by the royal capital and required entry logs from the tamer specifically.

Theo found a need to do something about that too.

"All right, Glutton. Let’s go on a hunting outing."

At that thought, the mantis finally woke up but stayed in the beast space. Its emotions told Theo that he should take it there himself.

It seemed the laziness had become a habit now.
