Endless Evolution: Last Star Chapter 1945: Future Battle and the Remaining Spectators

The poleaxe, a weapon of a Lord, slipped from Midgar’s grasp and hurtled toward the ground. But before it could reach the rocky plain, cracks spread across the blade as his Arc began to shatter into countless fragments.
TREMBLE!
The blue ray swept across the entire territory and traveled much farther, moving over fields, hills, and even mountains. It seemed as though nothing could stand in the way of this ray.
For several seconds, the ray operated at full power until its energy finally ran out.
At the same time, the blue threads covering Adam’s needle vanished, as did the needle itself, breaking into a multitude of bright particles that flew past his eyes.
"Agh..." A rasping sound came from Midgar, as blood poured from his mouth in a steady stream.
There was a wide gaping hole in his torso, leaving only the edges of his flesh intact. Everything else had been destroyed.
It didn’t matter whether he was a Viscount or not. He couldn’t withstand such an attack and wound, not after Adam’s needle had become a deadly weapon against him.
"Y-You... How...?" Midgar managed to say as darkness gradually engulfed his vision.
Adam gave him a piercing, clear gaze.
"All I did was fight to the very end. Everything was decided in that split second when your demons failed to kill me. You should have done it yourself. Then you would have won."
The hardest thing for Midgar was to admit that this was true. That he most likely had a chance to win and achieve his goal, but simply failed to realize it.
"Still..." Midgar rasped. "You can’t change anything, Adam Vinter... The Befallen Crown... Sooner or later, they’ll subjugate the entire world to their will..."
Adam nodded.
"Maybe, but even if that ever happens, you won’t be around to see it."
Midgar wanted to say something as his blue eyes lost their last glimmer and color. With a vacant stare, his body lost its balance and plummeted straight to the ground.
The Lords and Adam watched his fall in silence, accompanied only by the rush of the wind.
Soon, Midgar hit the ground, crashing into the rocky plain where he would remain for many years until he was forgotten.
The Lords exchanged glances, nodded, and one by one began to leave.
They had no intention of fighting Adam, speaking to him, or congratulating him on his victory. They were neither enemies nor allies, so there was no need for any of that.
They had come here to watch the battle and see the outcome. They had gotten what they wanted, and they had no further reason to stay.
However, two Lords remained even after everyone else had left.
Slowly, Adam descended to the ground, looking down at Midgar. His gaze was vacant, and there was no chance he could come back to life. For him, it was the end.
In fact, Adam didn’t know what to do next.
A strange feeling overwhelmed him as he simply stared at his dead opponent.
"Agh..." Adam sighed heavily. "My first victory over a Lord, and it was a Viscount. Who would have thought it would turn out exactly like this?"
True. Adam had set out for the Gray Sea not only to find the Bottomless Void, but also to carry out a mission from the Citadel.
Farla had asked him to kill Breydar, and he had agreed. Breydar was a Baron, and even if he had managed to grow stronger here, that was no longer a problem for Adam.
"Midgar... He lost, but he wasn’t just some ordinary monster. I’m sure he was stronger than most Viscounts."
Step. Step. Step.
Suddenly, footsteps sounded from the side, causing Adam to turn around.
Strangely enough, it was none other than Kalyso. The young man with long brown hair and bright amber eyes was moving toward him with an uneven stride. Midgar had left him with severe wounds, but unlike him, Kalyso was still alive.
For some reason, a smile spread across Adam’s face. He was glad to see Kalyso, because he was one of the few opponents who had simply wanted to fight him rather than kill him.
"Hey... Looks like you actually managed to do it..." Kalyso smiled bitterly.
Adam nodded.
"Yes. It was hard. I almost lost."
"Tsk. I’m always so unlucky..." Kalyso sat down on a nearby rock, looking out at Midgar. "When you arrived at the Fallen Amber Sun, I thought my luck had finally turned."
His gaze grew more intense.
"I took care of those three bastards who were waiting for you at the sphere, and then you showed up. I waited, and in the end, you agreed to fight. But... Midgar, he ruined everything."
Adam sat down on the ground as gusts of wind swept across the rocky plain.
"Yeah... If I were in your shoes, I’d be upset too. On the other hand, we fought each other for a while, and who’s to say we can’t do it again?"
Kalyso blinked before slowly turning around. His eyes flashed.
"Really?"
"Sure, but not now. I don’t even have the strength left to stand straight, let alone fight you. Although... I don’t know if you could beat me right now." Adam smirked, wanting to tease Kalyso a little.
Kalyso frowned.
"That’s the whole problem. Before, it would have been a fair fight between us, but now everything’s gotten a lot more complicated. What chance do I have if you defeated a Viscount, and not just any Viscount, but one who knocked me to the ground with just a few punches!"
"Ha!" Adam chuckled. "I’m sure you put up a good fight against him, too. It was just a trivial difference in your levels that decided it."
Kalyso shrugged.
"Maybe, but I realize I wouldn’t have been able to defeat a Viscount."
"Well..." Adam smirked. "In that case, you just need to get stronger. If you become a Viscount, we can fight again. Given your aura, you’ll be able to do that in the near future."
Whoooooosh!
With the next gust of wind, two more figures appeared in the distance, causing Adam and Kalyso to turn around.
Blafor and Ergander were looking at them as Ergander stepped forward with a friendly smile.
"Adam, how would you feel about me inviting you to visit me as the winner? You deserve a rest."
