The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse Chapter 1724: The War Couple
Previously on The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse...
"You guys should stay here for now. I’m going to register our group and our individual IDs," Rhazor said to his team after they were finally done with all forms of security validation.
The outpost is a safe haven for warriors brave enough to venture into the Ancient Battlefield. So, making sure everyone is thoroughly verified as human before being granted access was ideal.
The most important part was that they had the means to ensure every last soul that came to the outpost wasn’t an impostor.
Rhazor was impressed, but he still managed to fool the system. That, of course, means he would soon become someone they would depend on to ensure their systems were well protected.
His friends were okay with the arrangement, so he soon left, and before long, he had arrived at the place where he would register his team and obtain their IDs.
"Kindly place your hand on the screen," a lady seated behind a computer instructed, and Rhazor did as he was told. Since they had already submitted their warrior applications and group request, their details were already in the system...
The moment his palm was verified, a series of information popped up on the screen. The lady operator scanned through the content on her screen and nodded.
She approved their individual accounts and printed the IDs for him...
"I see you have requested a group. I suppose this group will include all the people in the application."
"Yes."
"Then what name do you wish to give your group? Every group is required to have a unique name."
Rhazor smiled and said, "You can name it ’The Paragon Squad.’"
The operator lifted her head and looked at Rhazor, who winked at her and smiled. Clearly, the name he had picked isn’t the most expected name a team this deep into enemy territory would use.
The Paragon is, after all, a very dangerous individual whom everyone hates. Well, he had been the bestie of many people after recent revelations.
However, while the warriors of the Human Universe might not take offense at such a name, the Foreign Race would surely try their best to attack and kill them.
Everyone affiliated with the Paragon is, after all, their enemy, and as such, they planned to kill them all.
"Uhm, are you sure about this name?" the lady asked, and Rhazor nodded.
"Well, I am the Paragon, so using my own name as a group name sounds right to me. Unless it is not allowed..."
The lady hesitated, but in the end, she said nothing and entered the name. However, just when she clicked to save the name, a red pop-up appeared on the screen.
A second later, a door leading deeper into the building opened, and a lady clad in lightweight armor walked out, radiating an intense Supreme presence.
Rhazor instantly recognised her power and knew she would be a menace on the battlefield.
"You are summoned." She didn’t even greet him. Instead, she went straight to the point, leaving Rhazor a bit disappointed.
However, since he had already anticipated this, he nodded and followed her.
She said nothing along the way, and Rhazor didn’t bother to say anything either. Soon, however, they arrived before a tinted glass door. She pushed it open and gestured for him to enter.
Rhazor nodded and entered the room.
The moment he did, the door closed and locked behind him...
’Tch, I can leave whenever I want, so no need to make a fuss where there shouldn’t be any,’ he looked straight ahead, and there, seated in two large chairs, were the two people he recognised all too well.
The man appeared to be in his late 60s, with a perfect set of black hair falling down his shoulders. His dark blue eyes looked back at Rhazor, who wasn’t even intimidated for a second.
When Rhazor knew him, he was known far and wide as the Everlasting Blade Master, someone whose handling of the sword was perfect. He was someone Klaus struggled against whenever they met.
As for the woman, she appeared to be in her early 40s, which, from how she looked, many might doubt she had lived for one era already.
In short, she is millions of years old, but she still wears her purple hair and keeps her skin as radiant as ever.
She was known as the Scarlet Fan Maiden. Her weapon of choice is the fan, and she has a good handle on it. Just like the Everlasting Blade Master, she was also good with her weapon.
As a couple, they moved together, so whenever Klaus faced them, it was two against one.
They fought dozens of battles, but none were defeated. Today, he had finally faced them again, only this time, both of them are Pseudo-Primordials, and Rhazor is merely a God Emperor.
But despite his limited cultivation base, he didn’t seem bothered. Rather, he smirked and said, "It has been millions of years since we last saw each other, but I still hate the smiles on your faces."
Maybe they wished to intimidate him, or maybe they saw this as the perfect time to end him. Regardless, Rhazor isn’t bothered...
"You two disgust me," Rhazor said before taking a seat 3 meters from the couple known widely as the War Couple.
"That makes three of us, Paragon." Scarlet Fan Maiden, whose real name is Eshun, said with a smirk on her face. Gpako, the Everlasting Blade Master, laughed and leaned forward...
"You seem rather weak this time around, Paragon. If I didn’t know better, I would say you wish to die, so you have offered yourself on a silver platter." Gpako laughed even louder.
Clearly, they didn’t seem to take Rhazor seriously, which is normal. He is merely a God while they are a step away from becoming Primordials. Such a gap is enough for them to look down on Rhazor.
Then again, Rhazor had no plans to take things lying down.
Watching them make a mockery of his cultivation, he smirked, tapped into the Blood and Flame Dao he had inherited, and spoke, channeling the power of the Dao through his voice...
"Oh, but I have the power to come and go as I please, you see..."
The atmosphere in the room tensed.
