The Invincible Full-Moon System Chapter 2075: One Glaring Weakness
Previously on The Invincible Full-Moon System...
His battle against High Lord Ursa was quite a distance away.
More than two dozen miles away from where the other battle—but he was still paying attention to what was happening there. From the death of multiple High Millinars, the remaining High Millinars’ attempt to free Diamantona, and even what happened to Vadyn—he knew it all.
At this point, he believed Rex’s words as if they were his own.
If Rex said that Diamantona was extremely dangerous, then he believed it.
And that’s the reason why he gave several life-saving measures to Vadyn in case things got too hard.
None of them were broken, but the moment Diamantona broke free from the dimensional prison, several of them were shattered in an instant. It was surprising, but he reckoned Vadyn made a fatal mistake and she paid dearly for it.
But now that she knew how strong Diamantona was, it would be harder to land a killing blow on her.
Rex would deal with Diamantona.
Or at least, that was what he said he was going to do.
High Lord Rashal believed him—but the moment the blue crystal tree appeared, that confidence drained away like blood from severed major arteries. Even he could not believe the amount of strength that was coming from Diamantona right now.
It reached him from miles and miles away.
And the intensity placed Diamantona unmatched among Awakened Demigods.
In fact, it would not be an exaggeration to say that he’s a Pseudo-Transcendent Demigod.
Going against something like that would be hard for Rex.
As much as High Lord Rashal wanted to honour his wish to be the one to fight against Diamantona, he simply couldn’t stay out of the battle anymore. The Purgation Duel impacted him the most, so he could not take any chances.
Boom—!
High Lord Rashal blasted away, heading back to help Rex deal with Diamantona.
Just one fatal hit should be enough for Rex to finish him.
’No... All I need to do is destroy that crystal tree.’ High Lord Rashal thought inside—sensing the highly concentrated immortal energy within it. Even Diamantona wouldn’t be able to summon it several times easily. ’Yes, that’s what I’m going to do.’
Once he knew what to do, High Lord Rashal opened the portal on his palm again.
Unlike a normal portal that sliced through the dimensional fabric and opened the path to another place— the skin on his palm sliced open instead. A slitted cut from the base of his index finger—and went down all the way to the base of his palm.
As it opened, a steaming white realm was revealed.
High Lord Rashal’s power was directly tied to the Pure Black Realm.
And that meant his body contained the realm—allowing him to grow stronger alongside it and unleash his power from every part of his body. He pulled back his hand, charging an annihilation ray to entirely obliterate the crystal tree.
But something latched onto his wrist.
High Lord Rashal could only glimpse the water around his wrist before he was yanked downward.
Splash—!
A column of water rose once his body was slammed against the water.
Not even a second later, the water splashed again as High Lord Rashal emerged back on the surface.
"Don’t change your mind now, Rashal." High Lord Ursa’s cold, throaty voice reverberated through the air—as he walked on the water’s surface. His right arm held his long trident at an angle, letting its prongs drag across the water. "You’re the one who wanted to bring our battle away—from the others. Let us see it to the end."
Just like High Lord Rashal, High Lord Ursa was riddled with wounds.
But instead of cuts, his body was covered more with burn marks.
And compared to High Lord Rashal, he was no doubt in a worse condition.
Even then, there was no fear on his face. Just the cold determination of someone following his plan.
High Lord Ursa tilted his face skyward, seeking comfort in the moonlight—even now, when the moons had become his enemies. He closed his eyes and drew in a deep breath through his nose, filling his lungs to their limit. "I think it’s about time."
His words came out as a whisper, but High Lord Rashal could hear it.
It was an ominous sentence, one that struck dread into High Lord Rashal’s heart.
But before he could even begin to think, High Lord Ursa spoke again.
"I must give credit where it’s due. I know you would be a formidable opponent—in the future, Rashal." He complimented, catching High Lord Rashal off guard. "Someone hard to control. Your family circle is small, you valued things differently than any High Lord, and you grew exponentially fast. Just a few more decades, and you might be a force answerable only to the Overseer and his direct servitors."
"You still underestimate me." High Lord Rashal shook his head. "I only need a few more years."
High Lord Ursa didn’t argue.
Surprisingly, he even nodded as if he agreed with that overzealous statement.
"You are formidable, but you have one problem."
"And what is that?"
"You came from the bottom."
High Lord Rashal’s eyes narrowed.
He couldn’t fathom how that would be a problem for him.
On the contrary, it should be a good thing, as it proved that he was an excellent individual who had gone through many trials—in order to reach where he was right now. Even though he wanted to say that High Lord Ursa was simply envious, he felt that this was genuine.
Not a mockery.
"For you to reach your position, you naturally needed to prove yourself. You need to show everyone that you’re someone worth keeping around." High Lord Ursa fixed his grip on his trident and looked at it with a smile curling on his lips. "You have gone through plenty of wars—Rashal. Plenty of material for me to learn from."
High Lord Rashal’s eyes narrowed.
Only now did he realize what High Lord Ursa was talking about.
Considering that he had fought countless wars, with many of them against powerful forces that came from another Sovereign Realm, it was natural for him to fight with all he had. Many warriors out there could contend with him or even overpower him.
It was inevitable for him to fight with everything he had.
And naturally, High Lord Ursa could simply learn from those battles.
Even though the records of those wars were highly classified, it was possible for High Lord Ursa to get his hands on them. "Your power is a unique one and is incredibly strong, but it has a fatal weakness. It also damaged your body, isn’t it?"
Every time High Lord Rashal opened a portal, it sliced through his skin.
It put a heavy strain on his body, especially since he couldn’t wield any other power.
He couldn’t master a healing power that would allow him to mitigate the strain caused bis his power.
Something that he still couldn’t find his way around.
"And in turn, your greatest weakness is your stamina." High Lord Ursa’s icy gaze shifted back to High Lord Rashal—specifically to his palms. "Your exhaustion never showed in heavy breathing—or any natural sign. It showed in your power. The portals on your palms—they began to open and close more slowly than before."
High Lord Rashal gritted his teeth.
It was true that he had anticipated this from happening—but he thought that the battle would not stretch for this long. He also had gathered as much information about High Lord Ursa, and he was certain that the battle would end quickly.
Unlike him, it had been a really long time since High Lord Ursa fought directly.
His battle senses and body should be rusty by now.
And more importantly, High Lord Ursa was strong in offense.
Since his offense was stronger, there should be no reason for the battle to stretch for long.
’Even if he has many life-saving treasures, I should be able to take him down. But now I knew why it’s hard to take him down.’
"Do you understand it now?" High Lord Ursa smirked—mischievously. "I have spent most of my power to bolster my survivability. I didn’t even bring my usual treasures to end the battle quickly. Against you, I don’t need to take you down. All I need to do is outlast you. And from the looks of it, I succeeded."
Boom—!
In an instant, High Lord Ursa infused his trident with an enormous amount of immortal energy, drawing in the power of the dark ocean below, and launched it at High Lord Rashal. Everything happened in the time it took High Lord Rashal to blink.
But even then, he was still able to react.
High Lord Rashal pointed his palms forward and fired two seething white rays to meet the trident.
The two seething white rays collided with the rising trident, creating a violent spark of blue and white.
High Lord Rashal faltered.
His rays had come out a moment too late for his comfort. He had calculated the trajectory, the timing, the precise angle of deflection—but the trident was faster. It had already reached its peak momentum, a rising comet of cold, divine steel, and his rays did not have enough time to fight back against it.
Even then, he poured more power into the blast, opening the portals on his palms wider.
Both rays thickened, but there was simply no more time for this attempt to make a difference.
With a shattering sound, the white beams broke apart, dissipating into the air.
And then the trident pierced through.
Swoosh—!
High Lord Rashal’s eyes widened.
Time around him seemed to dilate. The world slowed, stretching into a single, suspended instant.
He could see the trident coming—the three prongs, the gleaming metal, along with the thick drops of dark water that clung to its barbs. He could see High Lord Ursa’s face in the distance. He could see the snow, the dark ocean below, and the shattered remnants of his own power floating in the air.
Inside, his mind frantically fired his nerves, telling his body to move.
But his body moved far too slowly.
It was a cruel irony. His mind was fast—faster than it had ever been.
It could keep up with the rising trident, but his body could not keep up. Not even close.
And with the sound of a wet crack, the trident slammed into his chest.
Splash—!
It carved deep, tearing through flesh and bone, piercing the armor of his ribs and sinking into the cavity beneath. High Lord Rashal’s eyes widened. Blood burst from his mouth, a coppery spray—that painted the air crimson.
His body drew an arc across the sky, a broken doll thrown by a petulant god, leaving a trail of blood as he fell toward the dark water below. Even before High Lord Rashal could do anything at all—still stuck in a stupor, his mind reeling from the impact—High Lord Ursa waved his hand.
Around, the dark ocean answered.
He drained the dark water in a mile radius underneath him, with High Lord Rashal at the exact center.
The massive volume of water lifted into the sky, a floating ocean that defied gravity. He swung his arm down. Immortal energy seeped into the water, shaping it into a massive dark water dragon. The dragon’s body coiled, and it unleashed a devastating roar that shook the very foundations of the realm.
Like a furious beast, it slammed straight into High Lord Rashal.
BOOM—!
The impact was a massive splash. The dragon’s force and weight crushed him—hammering him down into the depths of the floating water. Even if he survived the impact, the water would choke him, filling his lungs, drowning him in the dark, cold embrace.
High Lord Ursa was not finished.
He poured more immortal energy into the dark water—drawing more water from the surrounding ocean to thicken the deluge, to make it denser and heavier. It locked High Lord Rashal deep inside, a tomb of liquid and rage.
Only then did High Lord Ursa’s eyes shift towards the far side of the realm. Towards the other battle.
Towards the other battle.
