The hivemind is conquering for me? Chapter 966: ’So Not My Type’
Previously on The hivemind is conquering for me?...
Jocasta had placed me on a balcony alongside a few dozen other people.
As to be expected, I didn’t know a single one of them.
By my best guess, they were obviously influential nobles. But what influence they had, that I had no clue. I was more miffed that Valerica wasn’t here with me. She was a Spartari guardian. And while I still didn’t know just how big of a deal that was, I knew it was one.
One thing did catch my interest though.
A woman.
Though not for any bonkable reasons. She was just very tall. Taller than me. Nearing eight feet or possibly at it and looked to be in her mid fifties, but that wasn’t all. She was built like a pile of bricks and her military uniform was doing a poor job of hiding it. I was genuinely impressed if she had no genetic alterations done to her. To get that buff off genetics alone was beyond impressive. Even more so for female biology.
My gaze must have lingered for too long as the woman, who was naturally sticking out over the crowd, suddenly met my gaze and frowned.
I smiled politely, unsure of what to do. I became more unsure of what to do as the living tank began charging towards me.
She then stopped fortunately. Unfortunately she was now inches away from me and was looking down at me with a frown.
"You got a problem with me, Buddy?" She spoke, her voice did not follow the trend of her body and sounded extremely feminine.
I shook my head as I looked up at her. "No. No problem. Why do you ask?" I asked her and she scoffed.
"Oh, I don’t know. Some little shit was gawking at me from across the way. Do you know it’s impolite to stare? Let me guess you are freaked out by a woman larger than you?" She asked, prompting me to shake my head while I responded with the truth.
"Oh, no. I know women that are taller than you, my teacher is in fact. I was just impressed by your, well, the best way to describe you is an absolute unit. I was just thinking to myself, respectfully speaking, if your size is natural or enhanced?"
The woman narrowed her eyes. "Are you calling me a juicer?"
I shook my head. "No, just asking the question. If you think I am judging you, I am not. I am genuinely just curious. If anything, I am genuinely impressed by your size and honestly, it’s commendable."
There was an awkward pause after I said that where the woman just stared at me with a scowl. After a few moments passed, her sharp facial features began to smile as she proceeded to whack me on the shoulder with delight.
"Well, that is very kind of you, stranger. It’s been a long time since I’ve heard a compliment, sorry for my aggressive attitude, but it’s how I’ve learnt to deal with shit stirrers. I’m Rhamiosippe. I know, quite the mouthful, but I’m from the ancient house of Barros and we have some unique naming practices for the women. But you can just call me Rham as I am sure you have already forgotten the second half of my name. Hehehe!"
I opened my mouth to correct her, but I had already forgotten, so I replied in kind. "Well, it’s nice to meet you too Rham, my name is Apollo Lambdason."
The woman seemed to remember something as her body jolted. "Oh yeah! Purple hair, moderately good looking. I should have realised sooner." She then leant in close and whispered.
"I’ve heard through the debriefs that you killed one of the three Warlords alone? Nice job. Very respectable of you to give up the glory without throwing a hissy fit." Rham said, nodding her head as she did so.
I just shrugged my shoulders. "Less spotlight on me, I’m already a Sentinel, I don’t need more attention on me."
"Hmm, you’re cute." Rham said before changing the subject. "Hey, how is your mother by the way? It’s been a good while since I last saw her. She is a bit crazy, but is a good woman."
I smirked. Some might have seen that as an insult, but honestly, it described Valerica to a tee. "She is good. Valerica is here somewhere if you want to see her afterwards?"
Rhamiosippe raised an eyebrow, slightly confused. " I meant-"
"-Sister, who are you bullying this time? Leave them alone." A deep, yet gentle voice suddenly spoke behind Rham, prompting her to turn around.
"Oh, sup bro. I’m not bullying anyone, I’ve actually made a friend." She said, prompting the man to begin laughing.
"Hahaha! Good one sis. No Seriously, These are important nobles, don’t bully anyone... Wait, are you being serious?" Hugo suddenly said before looking behind his sister. The moment he did his one eye nearly bulged out of its socket at who of all people was standing there.
"Archon Apollo! No, forgive me, It’s Sentinel Apollo now, isn’t it?" Hugo said, trying his best to regain composure.
Looking at the eight foot tall man with an eyepatch standing next to his sister, I could see the family resemblance.
"Hi again Hugo, It’s been a long time. And please, no titles, just call me Apollo." I said, reaching out for a handshake.
Hugo managed to compose himself and smile at the young man before taking his hand and shaking.
"Good grip. Now, I hope my sister hasn’t been a bother? She can be... Rough around new people."
I shook my head. "No, we were just talking. There was a moment where she thought I was being rude, but we got past that. She has been nothing but polite.
Rham then proceeded to wrap an arm around my shoulder and stood up straight. "See! I told you I wasn’t bullying anyone. Apollo and I were just getting to know one another."
"Uh-huh..." Hugo said, frowning at his sister touching him of all people. If Gabrielle found out...
He shuddered at the thought. They needed to be separated at once!
"Apollo, forgive my rudeness, but I need to borrow my sister for a moment, I hope you understand?"
I nodded my head. "Of course. Nice to meet you, Rham."
"Likewise, cutie." She gave me a wink, prompting Hugo to visually frown. Both Rham and I spotted that and she called him out on it.
"Oh please, he is cute, but so not my type. First of all, he is not even twenty and second, I like a nice skinny twink of a man with barely any muscle that I can dominate and Peg with my massive stra-"
"-Lalalalalalalala! I’m your brother, I don’t need to hear this! Lalalalala!" Hugo put his hands over his ears and closed his eyes, prompting Rham to smirk.
She then used her head to point in a certain direction. "I also have a natural inclination for men closer to my age. Anyways, talk later Apollo. Come on oaf!" She pushed her brother ahead who was still drowning out the oversharing of information.
Out of curiosity, I looked over towards who she used her head to point at. The only person in that direction was Sigismund who was reading from a script.
’Hmm, to each their own.’ I thought before shrugging my shoulders. I fucked bug aliens after all. Everyone had their thing.
...
"Alright, you clearly have some issue with me talking to that Apollo kid for some reason, so out with it" Rham declared after she and Hugo were as far from Apollo as they could be.
Hugo put on a hushed voice. "Stay clear from that man, sis. He is dangerous for multiple reasons. Most of all being his mother. I know you know about Gabrielle, but he doesn’t and if he found out before she told him and she found out... Brrrrr." Hugo felt a chill go up his spine at the thought.
Rham opened her mouth. "OH!!! That’s why he brought up Valerica when I asked how his mother was. She adopted him, of course."
Hugo just felt another chill go up his spine. "You... You didn’t mention Gabrielle to him did you?"
Rham shook her head. "No, but I was about to before you came along. So good timing bro. But why is it a big deal? Why hasn’t Gabrielle just told him?"
Hugo wanted to say something professional about his patient and friend, but after the fiasco he just had to spend the last few hours cleaning up at Olympus when Gabrielle decided to ’discharge’ herself, all he had to say was.
"You have met Gabrielle right? She is-"
"-An absolute whack job. Yeah, good point." Rham took the words out of his mouth a little harsher than he would have said, but still accurate.
"Exactly. And she has been coming up with outlandish plans all week while in my care to finally tell her son that he is her son. So for the sake of everyone’s health here. Stay clear of him and her."
Rham proceeded to give her brother a thumbs up. "You got it." Before she suddenly smirked playfully.
"Or did you just make all that up because I called him cute and you got all defensive. You never did like your sister getting close to other men, isn’t that right, big bro?"
Hugo sighed and used his knuckle to rub his empty eye socket of the pressure building up behind it. He could tell today was going to be beyond stressful.
’Ugh... Where is a milkshake when I need one?’
