Dave is killed by Alec’s Arachne minion and the Hive Queen’s webs, but his brother David uses a dangerous time-reversal spell to bring him back, albeit weakened. Alec then uses a Wyvern's soot attack to obscure the battlefield and recapture Dave, taunting David that he intends to kill them both to send a message to other lords.

David glared at Alec with bloodshot eyes, but Alec did not take him seriously at all.

Having witnessed David’s condition after he used that power the first time, Alec was certain that the toll for such an ability must have been immense.

This was exactly why he had targeted Dave again, deliberately pushing David into utter despair; after all, he believed there was no better way to defeat a master schemer than to turn the things they cherished against them.

“I will kill you!” David roared, as he reached out to touch his brother’s body that had been kicked towards him, and although he appeared to be in a state of blind rage, however his mind was actively analyzing his surroundings, calculating a way to escape as time runes began to materialize around the corpse before him.

The transparent, clearly visible runes formed a protective barrier around the body, resembling a temporal coffin.

With a simple gesture, David effortlessly moved the body to his side, and even when he lowered his hand, the corpse remained suspended behind him, floating in a continuous loop within its runic grave.

“Please, I’d like to see you try. Zenith, scorch this idiot!” Alec taunted, directing the latter half of his command to his soul beast, without a moment’s delay, the massive head of the Wyvern, matching Alec’s own height, emerged from the dark smog encircling the immediate area.

Its sudden reappearance spurred David into a frantic casting state.

Raising his hands, a massive time rune materialized before him, not stopping there, he reached out to touch the levitating time-runic grave he had constructed for his brother’s corpse for a second,

As an overlapping array of identical proportions materialized, but this was no time magic rune; on the contrary, it was a space array rune.

Simultaneously, Zenith unleashed a torrent of golden flames directly at David at that moment. The moment the blazing column struck David’s defensive array, his hands shook violently under the pressure as he could tell if he should keep this block of his any longer then he would be facing the full brunt of the attack.

Gritting his teeth, David swatted his free right hand through the air, causing a secondary network of runic arrays to manifest right on Alec’s other side.

In that fleeting split second, the wild golden flames surged directly toward him from the new runes, like he was re-directing the attacks.

Frowning at the certain development of things, Alec swiftly raised his left hand toward the incoming fire and said.

"Absorb!"

Right before David’s eyes, the wild, variant golden flames of the Wyvern, which seemed capable of melting anything in their path, were entirely absorbed by the glove that had manifested on Alec’s left hand.

The golden Wyvern ceased its breath attack only after realizing the fire would just be redirected back to its master.

David was able to see that on the back of Alec’s hand, two of the five transparent pearls embedded in the glove had been filled.

Witnessing the golden energy confirmed his suspicions, he knew that fighting in his current condition would mean certain death; though he was utterly heartbroken, he was far from foolish.

Capitalizing on the brief moment of distraction he had caused Alec, David swiftly cast a space travel portal and leapt into it.

He completely disregarded the risk of losing his city lord tokens and forfeiting all access to being a human lord in the origin realm. In his current state, he knew his life was in extreme danger if he stayed, and with that, he vanished from the spot.

Alec, who had been orchestrating his final move, was momentarily stunned by this sudden turn of events; he had never anticipated that David would possess the strength or even try to flee; the very mage he was determined to execute had slipped through his fingers, it was at this moment he realised that he really underestimated how much of a slippery eel he was.

What truly rattled him was the cold certainty that he knew that David would eventually resurface, with his heart fueled by a thirst for vengeance.

The realization that he had slain David’s brother weighed heavily on his mind.

Alec was convinced that when the schemer David finally chose to strike, he would not target him directly; instead, he would likely turn his wrath toward those he held dear, seeking to settle the blood debt through family.

Given that he likely believed Liam to be the one responsible for the leaked intelligence they had about him, Alec suspected that David might just go seek sanctuary within Liam’s city, biding his time to regroup.

Alec found himself in a precarious position; he was still unfamiliar with the vast stretches beyond the wilderness region, he even wasn’t through with the wilderness region as his arachne spies had not yet fully mapped its entirety.

Now, a new shadow loomed over him, a hidden foe he had allowed to escape.

With a grim expression, he shifted his focus toward the remaining two Tudors, his eyes cold and unforgiving.

As if sensing the mounting fury of their master, the Golems surged forward with renewed aggression to eliminate the stragglers.

Simultaneously, the Hive Queen’s assassin spawns moved, their needle-like limbs piercing the targets from multiple angles in a coordinated assault.

Meanwhile, the butcher lived up to his barbarian nature by splitting the Tudor he had targeted in two.

Having witnessed Dave’s demise and David’s flight, the remaining foes knew the battle was a lost cause and tried to escape, but they were simply unlucky, unlike David.

Alec extended his hands as he attempted to activate the Hive Queen’s web manipulation for the first time, using the strands to drag the corpses closer so he could store them in his storage ring.

Though they were already dead, the damage the twins had caused meant he was not about to let their bodies rest in peace since they were kin of the twins .

He intended to sacrifice them for System points, which would not only allow him to recoup his losses but also leave him with enough to make some progress.

“So you’re the new lord that the kings speak about?” A voice drifted straight into Alec’s ear, causing his eyes to tremble as he swiftly flew forward to retreat before turning back to gaze at where he had just been floating around.

“Zenith, Dracarys....” Alec commanded the instant he turned, just the thought that someone had managed to creep up on him completely undetected brought a different kind of dread to his heart.

Alec attempted to peer through the ash-like forcefield he had just manifested, but his vision was completely blocked, a wave of profound shock washed over him; after all, one of the active abilities of his equipment set explicitly granted him the power to see through ash, shadows, and shadow-like cloaking spells—and this particular forcefield was his own creation.

Moreover, as he moved, the forcefield should have shifted along with him. Instead, aside from the layer currently clinging to his body, the rest of the ash remained completely stationary, suspended in midair there.

A second later, his Wyvern unleashed a thunderous roar before breathing out a torrent of golden flames. The brilliant fire parted the incredibly dense, dark fog that seems to have become far thicker since he moved out of the way, exposing the figures who had been lurking undetected close by.

Three individuals stood revealed within the haze, the one in the center was dressed casually, an overly enthusiastic smile plastered across his face, while flanking him were two towering, slender men cloaked in solid black attire.

As the searing golden flames surged toward them, one of the cloaked figures standing beside the smiling man calmly stepped forward, thrust out his left hand, and unleashed a spell.
