They had to keep moving if they wanted to finish this mission and get out of here as soon as possible. Agiel moved down from Jason’s hold and placed her feet on the ground while still looking around cautiously. The two mages simply refused to let their guard down no matter what, and Jason took Agiel’s hand and kept her close as they continued on their way towards the center of the cloud.

There was a deep, unnatural silence that stretched across the darkness, and only the occasional comment from Jason or Agiel would fill the quiet for a few seconds! Agiel and Jason were doing their best to listen out for the strange voice that had spoken to them, but for some reason, it didn’t speak up again. The mouths also didn’t appear a second time, and Jason began to wonder if the voice was responsible for getting rid of the mouths attacking them!

This was how they both continued for the next few hours. Jason and Agiel passed through a few more worlds, and after a while Jason noticed that gravity had returned to normal and they were walking on the ground again. Agiel made a comment about the bodies lying dead around them and how they were now a different species, and Jason only glanced at them for a moment before he kept moving. Every now and then, Jason and Agiel would enter a region filled with buildings and man-made structures, and they would realise that they were walking through a city or town. These places always had far more dead bodies littering the area, and Jason could only wonder how it must’ve felt to be alive at one moment and to suddenly drop dead for no reason in the next! Since the dark clouds were blocking out the sun, Jason and Agiel had to rely on their superior sight to look around, and that only made the landscape seem even more eerie and dreadful! At this point, they had been inside this darkness for close to a day now, but Jason didn’t know how time worked in here, so he could only hope that time was linear and too much time hadn’t passed outside in the real world.

Finally, after what seemed like forever, they stepped into a strange-looking open room surrounded by darkness!

It felt like they had stepped through a door and into an actual mansion, and when Jason looked down and tested the floor, he noticed that it was made of marble! This wasn’t the normal grass and dirt that they had been walking on just a few seconds ago! Something had changed! Jason looked around him with narrowed eyes as he tried to understand where they had entered, but the darkness was still as thick as ever, and Jason couldn’t see anything beyond a few hundred meters in front of him.

’Over here~’

The strange voice from before finally spoke up again, and Jason turned to the side sharply once he heard it! This time, Jason finally got a chance to really hear it, and although the voice had a strange, eerie tone to it - almost like it was speaking from everywhere and nowhere at the same time - there was also a childlike innocence within the voice! It felt like Jason was listening to a child! Jason felt Agiel tighten her grip on his hand, and Agiel narrowed her eyes while looking around for any sign of an attack! Agiel was putting on a strong front, but Jason could feel the surge of fear that was passing through her heart, and Jason squeezed Agiel’s hand back to tell her that it was alright.

"Do you hear the voice as well?"

Jason asked, and Agiel nodded immediately.

"Someone spoke the Jadite tongue just now. They’re telling us to come closer."

Jason frowned when Agiel said this. So Agiel heard the voice in her native language? Jason had heard it in English. Did this mean that each person could hear the voice differently? Agiel was very put off by the voice because the fact that it knew she was a Jadite, even though she had been speaking English all this time, meant that it could somehow learn your Origin without any effort at all! There was something out there in the darkness, and it was dangerous!

The voice called out again, and this time rather than coming from everywhere, it came from the side.

’Over here~ Walk through here~’

Jason turned to glance in the direction he thought the voice was coming from, and Jason was shocked when he saw a pathway opening up right in front of him! It looked like someone had poked a hole in the eternal darkness, and the hole slowly expanded until it had formed into a tunnel leading deeper inside the Celestial Cloud! It was one of the most ominous things Jason had ever seen in his life! Jason knew at that moment that whatever was on the other end of that tunnel was something far more dangerous than anything he would imagine! Was it really a good idea to follow the instructions of an ominous voice leading them deeper into the darkness?

Jason hadn’t even felt this tense when he had been standing in front of the fucking Grim Reaper!

’Hurry up~’

The voice called out again in an impatient tone, and Jason let out a long breath as he steeled himself! Jason knew that this was a serious gamble, but Jason knew that they did not have any other choice about what to do from here! Turning back wasn’t an option because it would lead to the death of trillions across the Primordial Expanse, and walking around aimlessly was only going to waste more time! If they wanted to find a way to stop this, then this might be their best shot!

"Come on."

Jason pulled on Agiel’s hand as he began walking towards the tunnel, and Agiel hesitated for a moment! Jason could feel Agiel’s doubt creeping through their link, and Jason understood why Agiel was hesitating. Unlike Jason, who was already a Primordial, Agiel was still an SSS Rank mortal! She hadn’t even crossed into the realm of the TITANS yet, so Agiel must be feeling a lot more pressure from being in here than Jason! Agiel was just like a regular person standing in the presence of a god! The only thing keeping Agiel going right now was the fact that Jason was with her! Jason understood all of this, and he decided not to rush Agiel! Jason moved towards Agiel and put his hand on her shoulder while looking down at her.

"You okay? Hey, Agiel, look at me. Are you alright?"

Agiel swallowed, and she finally looked up into Jason’s eyes and nodded once. But Jason saw the flicker of fear pass through those eyes, and he knew that she was lying! Jason pulled her into a hug and spoke to her softly.

"You don’t need to worry about anything, alright. I’m right here, and I won’t let anything happen to you. We need to keep moving, Agiel. Do you trust me?"

’Hurry up~’

The eerie voice echoed through the region again, and Agiel glanced away from Jason and looked at the tunnel with fear in her eyes, but Jason turned her head so she looked at him before Jason shook his head.

"Forget about that voice; it’s just you and me here. I need you to trust me, Agiel."

Agiel took in a shuddering breath before she finally nodded! Agiel then let out a long sigh, and she looked up at Jason seriously.

"Yeah... yeah, I’m okay. I’m... I’m okay. Let’s go."
