SSS Awakening: Rebirth of the Strongest Vampire God Chapter 771 What is your secret?

Damon stood silently for a long moment before he turned and started walking away from the small shop. Sure, killing the guy would give him an immediate bump. It could even push his bloodline a step closer to completion and might make him even more ridiculously overpowered.
But he did not want to do that.
The tiny droplet of blood hovering beside him slowly dissolved back into his body as he stepped out of the bakery. The warm smell of bread faded behind him. The door creaked softly as it swung shut. Inside, the baker continued laughing with his daughter, completely unaware that death itself had stood a few steps behind him just moments ago.
Damon walked down the narrow street in silence.
"Are you going to leave him just like that? Why?" Blood Reign's panicked voice chimed in.
"Why? Because I want to. That's what I feel like doing right now." Damon simply answered.
"My liege… I understand your hesitation but it cannot be helped. A small weakness now could cost everything tomorrow. My liege… the path of blood is not always easy to walk upon. Even if you ignore him today, someone else might claim him tomorrow."
Damon chuckled. "Little red, don't worry. I know these things already. You don't have to remind me. I also don't plan to leave the bloodline fragment just like that. He is a mortal, little red. A simple human being who hasn't awakened yet. How much do you think his lifespan is?"
"I see, my liege."
"And if someone else comes, they will face my blood avatar first." Damon materialized a drop of blood and from it, emerged a blood avatar. "Continue your research on poisons here in this world. While you are at it, stay here and protect him. I will come and see you after a few years."
Aside from everything, Damon was also curious how his blood avatars would function when they were worlds apart. This would be a good experiment to test out many things. Thinking about various ideas and where to possibly head toward next, Damon quietly walked the streets. He absolutely had no regrets about what he had just done. Maybe he really had done something today that would possibly change the course of his entire life. It did not matter. He will deal with all of it one way or the other. All his thoughts were only on his next step. Damon smiled. "That just means I have to work that much harder in the future." He exhaled having made peace with his decision and was about to once again tap into the bloodline network to head out somewhere else when suddenly his entire body stiffened.
"Aren't you the least bit curious how my pastry tastes? Hmmm… That sounded wrong. Let me ask again. Would you like some bread?"
Before Damon could react, unimaginable pressure engulfed him and the entire world around him froze. The street froze. The wind stopped. Even the dust drifting lazily in the sunlight hung motionless in the air.
Damon's pupils shrank. His body refused to move because something far beyond him had decided he would not move. His mind screamed in alarm. "Little red"
Blood Reign's voice came out strained. "My liege… this… this presence…" Even she sounded shaken.
The next instant a figure materialized out of thin air. "Who are you, kid? Where did you come from?"
Damon could tell that it was an old person's voice but he couldn't really see the man or his face or features. All he could see a vague blood clone.
"It's in your best interest to answer me, you know?" The old man spoke again.
Damon still remained silent. At the same time, he was quickly pushing more and more stat points into his body to see if he could break this pressure.
"Ba ha ha ha! Give it up, kid." The old man laughed at his failed attempt. "You cannot break free from this old man's hold. You are a baby when compared to me."
Damon did not care. He knew his body hadn't reached its limit yet and he was determined to break free one way or the other. All he needed was a fraction of a second to get the hell out of here.
"Alright. Looks like you are one determined little fucker. This should put you at ease."
Unexpectedly, a drop of blood appeared in between Damon and the blood clone. Damon's eyes widened in shock as he instantly recognized what that drop of blood was.
"Impossible!" It was unmistakeable. The drop of blood contained the very bloodline he had come here for. The fragment of the primordial bloodline!
"Take it, kid. Its yours. Yup. I am handing it over to you just like that." Damon's eyes narrowed. "Why?" he finally spoke, his voice calm despite the storm raging inside him.
The blood clone scratched the back of his head casually. "Why?" the man repeated, sounding amused. "You don't want it? Didn't you come all the way here for this?"
"Why are you giving it to me?"
The man sighed as if Damon had just asked something very troublesome. "You kids are so suspicious these days." He waved a hand lazily. "Relax. There's no trap."
The crimson droplet drifted closer.
Damon did not reach for it.
The man chuckled. "Interesting." He leaned forward slightly, studying Damon. "Most people would have grabbed it before I finished the sentence. And yet… you are not in the least affected by it. How is this possible? Shouldn't you be a greedy bastard by now? The stench of corruption is all over you and yet you are still able to resist so much. Tell me, kid. What is your secret?"
"The stench of corruption?" Damon asked.
The old man laughed. "Oh come on, kid. Don't play innocent with me." He pointed lazily at Damon. "You've slaughtered your way across worlds. Your bloodline is swollen with stolen fragments. Your aura reeks of death, greed, ambition… all the usual ingredients." "And yet when you saw the baker…" The man paused. "…you hesitated and even managed to turn away."
