Rise of The Demon General Chapter 917. An Alliance Between the Old and New Rulers of the Lower World
Previously on Rise of The Demon General...
Mo Wang froze for a few seconds after hearing Amon’s statement. He then burst into laughter, "Hahaha! As expected of General Amon. Your audacity truly knows no bounds. However, why should I take this risk to help you with your insane ambition?"
"Because you will never be able to defeat the Divine," Amon said.
Mo Wang didn’t rebut the statement.
"Even if you successfully enter the True Devil Stage, you can never best someone who has been in that stage for eons," Amon added. "The best you can attempt is to come close to his level, but you will never surpass him."
Mo Wang snickered mockingly. "So, are you insinuating that I can defeat him if I cooperate with you?"
"I am not insinuating. I am telling you that his downfall is a certainty if we cooperate."
Mo Wang laughed. "You are truly one arrogant son of a bitch. Don’t get over your head just because you have scored a victory in this lower world’s power struggle. You haven’t met the Divine. He is completely out of your league."
"Accomplishments will indeed cause someone to overestimate themselves most of the time, but rest assured, it is not the case with me."
"That is what most arrogant people claim."
"Arrogance is for people who know not their limits. I know what I can achieve, and my accomplishments back my claim. When we met for the first time, even after knowing my true identity, has it ever crossed your mind that I can topple the three domain lords and stand atop them?"
Mo Wang’s condescending expression slowly faded. "To be honest, I think you can, but not this early."
"Then believe me when I say I can topple the Divine, too. Even if my past accomplishments don’t convince you, take confidence from the indisputable rule of quantity. The side that possesses the same quality but has more of it will always win. One True Devil Stage cultivator can’t defeat the Divine, who is a True God cultivator, but it can be done with two True Devil Stage cultivators."
"Two...? Are you telling me..."
"It is only a matter of time," Amon answered before Mo Wang finished his question.
A realization crossed Mo Wang’s expression. "You... You have mastered the Transcendent Poison Blood Union?"
"My current look is the proof of my success," Amon uttered.
Mo Wang made a curious expression. "The Transcendent Poison Blood Union changed your physique? Really...? That’s odd... I didn’t design the poison to have such an effect. Perhaps it is an unexpected side effect."
"... My physique also changed a little when I mastered the Poison Blood Infusion Method. Is it not the same with you?" Amon asked.
"Is that so? No, my body remained the same. I didn’t experience any change."
"Hm... Odd. Perhaps it is the unintended chemistry between my demon body and the poison."
"That demon body is a clone of mine. In theory, my body should have had the same reaction as yours," Mo Wang said. He then thought of something amusing and chuckled. "Perhaps rather than a reaction to your physic, the transformation is the poison’s reaction to your soul. You are so deeply corrupted that the poison triggers the changes, making your appearance reflect your wicked self."
"Hm... Well, these transformations strengthen my body. I don’t mind if the only undesired side effect is that I look less human."
"Sure you don’t," Mo Wang remarked. He flew down and landed next to Amon. "With this revelation, I know for sure that you indeed possess my 101 Primal Poison Tome."
Amon was on full alert with Mo Wang standing so close. He hadn’t moved away because he hadn’t sensed any danger from Mo Wang yet. He put on a calm façade and maintained his position. "Do you want it back?" He asked.
Mo Wang shook his head. "No need. It is simply a copy. I only want to confirm where it is. Plus, you’ve already mastered the most valuable recipe in the tome, which is the Transcendent Poison Blood Union and the Undead Pestilence Poison... Yes, I know the undead plague is your doing. Quite cunning of you to pin that on the Divine."
"I see you don’t go full-hermit. You still follow the situation outside."
Mo Wang shrugged. "After all I have gone through, I have learned to have eyes and ears in many places. So, about my poison tome, you can see that I have no point in asking it back since you already mastered the most troublesome recipes from that book."
"There are still a few recipes after the page that contains the Transcendent Poison Blood Union."
"Those are just common poisons, capable of affecting cultivators with high cultivation. None that can affect someone at my level, so it is not a danger to me."
"Is one of those recipes the Calamity Fog Poison? Which you used against the Cryanid horde during the battle at Venal Virtuous City?"
Mo Wang smiled and shook his head. "Nope. That is a new recipe I developed after losing the tome that is now in your hand. Hehe, I know you will desire that poison. Sorry, you can’t have it."
"That’s okay. I’m not here for that poison. I’m here to offer you an alliance. It is only a matter of time before I enter the True Devil Stage. With the two of us working together, defeating the Divine won’t be a problem."
"You still need a long time to reach that level," Mo Wang said.
Amon grinned. "That’s okay. You haven’t either, because you are still at the Peak Infernal Devil Stage."
Mo Wang had been in this stage for aeons. He had already reached the limit. If he had mastered the Transcendent Poison Blood Union, he would have broken through to the True Devil Stage immediately.
Amon’s remark displeased Mo Wang. He sensed a brief danger from Mo Wang, but it vanished as swiftly as it appeared.
"Hmph! The mastery of Transcendent Poison Blood Union is uncertain. You are simply lucky that you mastered it first. I will eventually do so as well."
"That’s true. Then the question we need to ask is whether you have enough noble dragon blood to concoct more of the poison."
Mo Wang frowned upon hearing the statement. Amon had hit the heart of the problem. Though the blood he collected from Thien Huo was abundant, it was not infinite. He had already used up all the blood to concoct the poison, and he only had a few bottles left. In a few months, if he hadn’t successfully mastered the Transcendent Poison Blood Union, he would need to go hunt another noble dragon to get more blood. A prospect he was not thrilled with."
As if reading his thoughts, Amon said, "I can solve your problem. Here, consider it a peace offering."
Amon took out a few vials. They all contained the noble dragon’s blood.
"Right... Is that blood from your tamed beast?" Mo Wang asked.
"It is," Amon confirmed. "I can provide you with an unlimited supply. All you have to do is agree to our alliance."
"Hehe. I wonder what your tamed beast will feel if she knows you give her blood to the man who had imprisoned her mother."
"She won’t find out, for your and my sake," Amon responded.
"Your secret is safe with me," Mo Wang said as he took the vials from Amon’s hand.
"So, I take it we are now allies?" Amon asked.
"Sure," Mo Wang replied nonchalantly.
Words were just words. Amon understood that Mo Wang could easily break his promise. Mo Wang was a man who had climbed to the top of the lower world and remained there for aeons. Amon didn’t think it was beneath him to break a promise. Even so, Amon believed this alliance was for both their benefit. As long as that was true, he didn’t think Mo Wang would double-cross him, at least not in the near future. All he had to do was pay attention when Mo Wang showed any sign of betrayal.
"Good," Amon said. "Now, I’m going to tell you our first move against the upper world, and it will be during the purge."
"The purge? So soon? Are you insane? It is only half a year from now, give or take. Your cultivation hasn’t even entered the Devil Realm yet. If you show your hand now, the Divine will crush you before you have the chance to grow."
Amon shook his head. "I don’t believe he will. He may try, but he won’t be able to do anything so long as we hide in this lower world."
"Did you forget my story? He had come to this world before."
"If he can, he would have come after we released Di Yu."
"He is waiting for the purge to be over. It is important to him, to his upper world. He doesn’t want to jeopardize it. That’s why he waits."
Amon again shook his head. "I don’t think that is the case. I believe there are two possibilities for his absence. One, he was bluffing. He only had the means to come to this lower world that one time, probably using a one-time-use artifact, or something of the vein. Two, he was wounded or had died."
