Dragon Monarch System Chapter 1173:- [Rescue Mission - Alen And Elena (ii)]
Previously on Dragon Monarch System...
"Old man, you’re not very useful." Aditya let out a disappointed sigh. He had honestly expected much more from the former emperor.
"What did you just say, brat?" Before Aditya could react, Boris reached over, grabbed him by the ear, and gave it a firm twist.
"That hurts, old man!"
"Brat, you had better show some proper respect to your elder." Only after delivering his punishment did Boris finally let go.
Aditya immediately rubbed his sore ear while glaring at his grandfather. "You really twisted it."
"You deserved it." The two stared at each other for a few seconds before Aditya silently admitted defeat and returned his attention to the map.
"Fine... sorry."
"Hmph."
Boris folded his arms with a satisfied expression, looking every bit like an elder who had just successfully disciplined an unruly grandson. Without wasting any more time, Aditya shifted back to the topic that actually mattered.
"Alright. Since the dome doesn’t have any obvious weaknesses, what about its energy source? Or the location of its main runes?"
"Hidden inside a secret chamber located one thousand meters underground." Boris answered without hesitation. After all, he was the one who came up with the idea. Before the position of the main runes was in a position that could have been easily targeted so Boris decided to hide it away.
"Judging from that tone, I guess you must have done that." Feeling his intense stare, Boris remained silent. He decided to not comment on the matter at all and treat it as if he had not heard Aditya’s words.
Aditya - "...."
"Reaching that place is practically impossible. Even during my reign, only a handful of people knew of its existence. As for its exact location, it was intentionally designed so that no outsider could ever find it. So stop wasting your brain on that idea and think of something else."
Aditya scratched his head in frustration. "I am trying, old man."
Boris immediately shot him another sharp glare after hearing the familiar nickname. Aditya, however, pretended not to notice. He was copying his grandfather.
Instead, he leaned over the map with complete seriousness. He carefully began studying every road, courtyard, wall, and structure drawn on it as though Boris’s glare did not exist.
Seeing his grandson deliberately ignore him made the corner of Boris’s eye twitch.
"This brat..." Boris muttered under his breath.
Aditya simply kept staring at the map with great interest, acting as if he had suddenly become deaf. Watching him shamelessly ignore his elder, Boris could only shake his head before letting out a helpless sigh.
’He really has no fear when it comes to provoking me.’
But after thinking for a while, neither of them could think of a solution."Bruh! Why the fuck did you have to make things so tough?" Aditya glared at Boris.
The more he learned about the Imperial Royal Palace, the more difficult the entire mission seemed to become. Every possible route was blocked, every weakness had been covered, and every security measure had been improved to an absurd level.
And the reason behind all of this was standing right in front of him. Boris had spent 20,000 years continuously strengthening and improving the Royal Palace’s defenses. No wonder the place was so tightly protected and left almost no room for infiltration.
"You wanted your grandpa to die from assassin attacks?" Boris asked with a hurt expression. His eyes became slightly watery, and he looked as if tears were about to fall at any moment.
The old man’s expression was filled with such deep sadness that, for a brief moment, it looked as if Aditya had truly committed some unforgivable crime against him.
Seeing his reaction, Aditya rolled his eyes. "Well, you could have taken those attacks given how tough you are."
Aditya muttered under his breath. Boris clearly heard him. However, he deliberately pretended that he had not heard anything and remained silent. After all, now was not the time to argue with his grandson over jokes.
"I am guessing I cannot teleport from outside either. Like, effectively bypassing the barrier through teleportation." Aditya stared at the map while thinking carefully.
Since his teleportation ability allowed him to move to any location he could see, there was a possibility that he could simply stand outside the Imperial Royal Palace and teleport directly inside.
If that worked, then many of the palace’s defenses would become meaningless. However, Boris immediately crushed that hope.
Boris nodded his head. "No one can teleport inside regardless of the method they use."
Hearing this, Aditya’s expression instantly darkened. His last possible shortcut had disappeared. "Is there anything that you did right in your life?"
Aditya looked at Boris with complete seriousness. For a moment, silence filled the area.
Boris slowly turned his head and stared at his grandson. "Brat."
"It looks like you need to be disciplined."
Aditya immediately realized the danger in those words and took a small step back. "Old man, why did I even bring you out of the pocket dimension when you cannot be useful?" Aditya said bluntly.
However, he was not actually insulting Boris with any real hatred. The reason he spoke so casually with his grandfather was because he knew Boris would not take his words seriously. In fact, this kind of relaxed interaction was something that allowed the two of them to become closer.
For thousands of years, Boris had been an emperor. He had spent most of his life carrying authority, responsibility, and the pressure of ruling an empire. But with Aditya, he was not the former emperor. He was simply a grandfather listening to his grandson complain.
Boris looked at Aditya’s shameless expression and felt his eyebrow twitch. This brat really had no respect for his elder. "After everything I have done for this empire, this is how you speak to your grandfather?"
Boris placed a hand over his chest and acted as if he had suffered a devastating emotional injury.
Aditya glanced at him. "Are you seriously acting hurt right now?"
"Yes."
"Your acting is terrible."
"Get over here. I am going to teach you proper respect."
Seeing Boris move toward him, Aditya immediately turned back to the map. He did not want to get his ear twisted. That shits hurts a lot.
"Anyway, we have more important things to do." This grandson of his was really good at changing topics whenever he wanted. Despite himself, Boris could not help but smile slightly. Even during such a serious situation, Aditya still had the ability to make things feel less heavy.
Boris let out a tired sigh.
’This kid is rebellious just like I was when I was young.’ At that moment, Boris suddenly understood the tired expressions and helpless sighs that his own parents used to make whenever he caused trouble during his childhood.
Back then, he never understood why his parents looked so exhausted whenever they dealt with him. He always thought they were simply overreacting. But now, after experiencing it himself, he finally understood.
Having a stubborn and rebellious child was truly exhausting. But it can also be fun. It can be a real way to bond with his grandson.
The situation was far too serious for them to waste time arguing. After carefully observing the map for a while, Aditya suddenly spoke. "What about underground?"
Boris looked at him. "That is also not feasible."
He pointed at the map while explaining. "The defensive dome does not only cover the sky. It also extends underground. There is an inverted-shaped dome covering the ground beneath the Imperial Royal Palace."
"So essentially, the entire Imperial Royal Palace is completely separated from the rest of the world by this defensive barrier?"
Boris nodded his head. "Yes."
Hearing this, Aditya fell silent.
The more information he received, the more he realized just how terrifying the defenses of the Imperial Royal Palace truly were.
"Is there really nothing we can do about this situation?" Aditya asked feeling very frustrated.
Boris did not immediately answer. He simply continued staring at the map in silence. Because at this moment, even he had to admit that the situation was extremely difficult. The Imperial Royal Palace that he had spent thousands of years strengthening had become the greatest obstacle standing between Aditya and his parents.
After another few minutes of silence, Boris finally spoke. "Beyond the walls surrounding the entire Imperial Royal Palace and the defensive dome covering it, our main problem is avoiding all forms of detection. We need to find your parents and bring them out without being seen or detected by anyone inside the palace."
Breaking through the defenses was only one part of the problem. Even if they somehow managed to enter the Imperial Royal Palace, they still needed to locate Alen and Elena without alerting the countless guards, officials, and experts stationed throughout the palace.
One mistake could cause the entire plan to fail. Hearing this, Aditya suddenly felt as if he had thought of a brilliant idea.
"Wait. I heard that as soon as my cousin became the Emperor, he removed the previous Prime Minister from his position and appointed a new Prime Minister."
Aditya looked at Boris with a smile. "Maybe we can use the old Prime Minister for safe entry into the Imperial Royal Palace. We can disguise ourselves, enter together with him, and then use his knowledge of the palace to find my parents."
The moment Boris heard Aditya’s suggestion, his eyes immediately lit up. "That is a good idea. As expected of my grandson." Boris smiled with satisfaction.
This was exactly the kind of thinking he expected from Aditya. Instead of being overwhelmed by the seemingly impossible defenses of the Imperial Royal Palace, his grandson was searching for a weakness that could be exploited.
Aditya also grinned. Finally, they had found a possible path forward. It was not a guaranteed success, and countless difficulties still remained ahead of them. But for the first time in a while, it felt like they had a real chance of bringing his parents back safely.
