Dragon Monarch System Chapter 1172:- [Rescue Mission - Alen And Elena(i)]
Previously on Dragon Monarch System...
Boris looked at the grandson before continuing his explanation. "As I have already said. The entire Imperial Royal Palace is protected by an extremely powerful defensive dome. It is strong enough to block the attacks of Seventh-Order cultivators. Only the attacks of an Eighth-Order cultivator are capable of weakening the barrier."
He paused for a moment before adding another important detail. "Even then, an ordinary Beginner Eighth-Order cultivator would not be able to break it with just a few attacks. It would require repeated strikes over a period of time before the defensive dome showed any signs of weakening."
"Is it really that strong?" Aditya asked, unable to hide his surprise.
Boris nodded. "I was not the one who created this defensive dome. It was built by one of the Founding Fathers of the Celestial Dragon Empire. At that time, its purpose was simply to protect the Imperial Royal Palace, which was much smaller than the one you see today."
"As the Empire continued to prosper, every generation of rulers expanded the Imperial Royal Palace. Whenever its territory grew, the defensive dome was also expanded to cover the newly added sections. This process continued for countless generations."
"Finally, around one hundred and fifty thousand years ago, the Imperial Royal Palace reached its current size. From that point onward, there was no longer any need to expand it further. The defensive dome also reached its maximum coverage and has remained unchanged ever since."
"The growth of the Imperial Royal Palace and the expansion of the defensive dome always went hand in hand. Every new section that became part of the Palace was eventually brought under the protection of the barrier."
Boris reached into his Storage Ring and took out a detailed map of the Imperial Capital. He spread it across the large boulder before them. At the very center of the map stood the enormous Imperial Royal Palace, surrounded by the vast Capital City.
"Currently, just entering the Imperial Royal Palace presents us with two major obstacles." Boris said as he pointed toward the outermost layer of the Capital. His finger rested on the massive walls that completely surrounded the city.
"These walls will be our first and biggest hurdle."
He looked at Aditya before continuing. "To enter the Capital, everyone must pass through strict inspections and identity checks. Under normal circumstances, our usual disguises might have been enough to get us through. However, the situation has changed. The Civil War is about to begin. I am one hundred percent certain that the security measures at every entrance to the Capital have become much stricter than before."
Aditya studied the map for a few moments before speaking. "We need to gather information first. We can’t make any plans until we know how tight the security has become."
Boris nodded in agreement. At the moment, they knew very little about the current situation inside the Capital. Making assumptions would only increase the chances of failure.
"I will send my men to gather information." Aditya said after thinking for a moment.
"The fastest way is to bribe the right people. Money has always been one of the most effective ways to obtain information."
"Yes. But this operation must remain completely secret. No word of our investigation can be leaked. If even a small rumor reaches Ren, he will immediately strengthen the city’s defenses even further."
Aditya gave a confident nod. "I will send Nathan and Lou Han. Nathan has plenty of experience handling this type of mission. He knows how to gather intelligence without attracting attention. Lou Han will accompany him to ensure his safety in case something unexpected happens."
"Good." Boris nodded with satisfaction.
"That is the most suitable arrangement. Let Nathan investigate the current security around the Capital first. Once we have accurate information, we can begin planning our next move."
"The second obstacle we will face is the biggest one I mentioned earlier and that is entering the Imperial Royal Palace itself."
"The legal way of doing it would be to disguise ourselves and enter through the proper channels."
Aditya listened without interrupting. "But the problem is that we would need a long time to prepare everything. We would have to create completely believable identities, establish convincing backgrounds, and come up with a legitimate reason for entering the Imperial Royal Palace."
But Boris shook his head. "And even then, it would take at least a few months just to complete the preparations. The Imperial Royal Palace does not allow unknown individuals to enter so easily. Every person who is granted permission to enter must undergo a thorough background investigation."
They would need to create fake identities and live those fake identities for a few months just so that even if the guards do conduct a background check, it doesn’t appear like they just appeared out of nowhere.
He continued explaining the palace’s security procedures. "The palace must also be notified of your arrival and the purpose of your visit at least three days in advance. That requirement exists for a reason."
"Those three days give the palace enough time to investigate and verify every piece of information related to the visitor. They will confirm your identity, your status, your affiliations, and even the reason you claim to be entering the palace."
Boris folded his arms while speaking in a serious tone. "The security system is designed to eliminate uncertainty. If even a single detail appears suspicious or cannot be verified, your request will either be rejected outright or you will be placed under close surveillance the moment you arrive."
He looked directly at Aditya. "That is why infiltrating the Imperial Royal Palace through legal means is so difficult. It is not enough to wear a disguise. Your entire identity has to withstand an investigation conducted by the empire itself."
For a moment, silence fell between them.
Aditya now understood why Boris had immediately dismissed the idea of simply creating fake identities. The palace’s security was not focused solely on stopping intruders at its gates. It was designed to identify and eliminate suspicious individuals long before they ever reached the Imperial Royal Palace.
Hearing Boris’s explanation, Aditya immediately realized that the legal route was no longer a realistic option. Given the time they had available, waiting several months to establish false identities and create believable backgrounds was simply impossible.
That left them with only one choice. And that was the illegal way.
"What’s the second way?" Aditya asked curiously.
Although he had lived in the Imperial Royal Palace during his childhood, he had never paid attention to such details. As the Crown Prince, he had never needed to think about methods of entering or leaving the palace. He could come and go freely, and security procedures had never applied to him in the same way they applied to everyone else.
However, instead of answering immediately, Boris quietly stared at the map spread out before them.
Boris’s expression gradually became more awkward.
Aditya felt something was odd. Not hearing any words, he raised his head only to find Boris looking awkward and a little bit embarrassed.
Then several moments passed in complete silence.
"I... don’t know."
"Sorry... come again?" Aditya stared at his grandfather in disbelief. For a brief moment, he genuinely thought he had misheard him.
"I said I don’t know." Boris repeated his answer while looking deeply embarrassed.
After all, he was the one who had confidently taken out the map and begun explaining the Royal Palace’s defenses in great detail. Yet, when they reached the most important part of the entire discussion; how to illegally infiltrate the palace, he had no answer.
Aditya remained completely speechless.
"..."
He simply stared at Boris with an expression that mixed disbelief, confusion, and mild frustration. Seeing his grandson’s reaction, Boris awkwardly cleared his throat.
"What?"
"I spent twenty thousand years making sure no one could illegally enter the Imperial Royal Palace. Why would I know how to sneak into the place myself?" When Boris put it that way, Aditya suddenly realized how ridiculous his own expectation had been.
Boris had devoted thousands of years to strengthening the palace’s defenses, not searching for ways to bypass them. Asking the man who designed one of the world’s most secure fortresses how to secretly infiltrate it was almost like asking the person who built an unbreakable lock where its hidden weakness was.
Even so, Aditya still could not help but sigh.
"Old man, you’re not very useful." Aditya let out a disappointed sigh. He had honestly expected much more from the former emperor.
"What did you just say, brat?" Before Aditya could react, Boris reached over, grabbed him by the ear, and gave it a firm twist.
"That hurts, old man!"
"Brat, you had better show some proper respect to your elder." Only after delivering his punishment did Boris finally let go.
Aditya immediately rubbed his sore ear while glaring at his grandfather. "You really twisted it."
"You deserved it." The two stared at each other for a few seconds before Aditya silently admitted defeat and returned his attention to the map.
"Fine... sorry."
"Hmph."
