My mother quickly healed the worst of our injuries with practiced hands and then offered us several of her carefully prepared elixirs. We each drank four of them in succession. The potent liquid spread through our bodies almost immediately, rapidly restoring our drained stamina while the deep ache in our muscles slowly faded away.
"Phew, well, that was exhausting," my father sighed as he rolled his shoulders and stretched his neck. "I... I really didn’t think it would be this damn tough."
"Yeah," my brother nodded in agreement, still catching his breath.
"Scale-wise, it’s smaller than some of the bigger threats we’ve faced," I said while looking around at the scattered remains of the divine beasts. "But it felt harder than when we fought that True Demon invading the Dungeon. Do you remember that one, Dad?"
He nodded firmly. "Yeah! Although these divine beasts don’t make nearly as much of a ruckus as the larger monsters, they’re damn tough as hell. One single mistake can kill you instantly. If anything, they might even be harder to handle than the big, bulky ones you can always attack and aim for from any direction."
I nodded along with his assessment. My brother looked at both of us with a little jealousy in his eyes. "Oh wow, I’m jealous. You actually fought a True Demon Duke?! I wish I could’ve been there!"
"Well... I’m sure we’ll eventually fight many more of them," I laughed lightly, trying to ease the tension. "So don’t worry too much. That fight is definitely not going to be the last of its kind."
"Sylphy, if you put it that way it’s only getting scarier," my mother sighed while shaking her head with a mixture of fondness and concern. "Anyway, how about you try eating some of these materials? Can you absorb them?"
"Eat?" I asked, raising an eyebrow. "I mean... I can try absorbing them. Let me see what happens."
I began drawing the shattered cores into my body, slowly feeling my divine energy replenish to a certain extent. At the same time my divine skills started resonating gently, growing stronger little by little as the pure energy settled inside me.
"I guess that works!" I said with a satisfied nod. "But... Hmm, something feels strange."
"What’s wrong?" my brother asked, stepping a little closer.
"Alice?" I called out softly.
Alice was still weakened by the dense divine pressure of this area, yet she managed to appear by my shoulder in her usual small form. "Yes?"
"These Divine Materials... do they work as Experience Points for skills?" I asked.
She nodded. "You can absorb them and deliberately redirect their power into a chosen skill. If the skill is compatible, it will gain up to ten times more experience than normal. This is the method Gods use to continuously level and rank up their Divine Arts and Techniques."
"I see..." I nodded thoughtfully. "Well, this place might be the perfect location to farm these divine materials as much as we want. The only problem is that I’m growing more and more exhausted the longer we stay... Maybe I’ll return on my own next time."
"A-Are you sure? Won’t you die if you come alone..." my brother said flatly, giving me a worried look.
"Hahah, nah," I shrugged with forced confidence. "It’ll be fine. Anyway, let’s get going!"
My father nodded, his expression turning serious once more. "I... I can feel him clearly now. Flamie’s over there. His soul has really been saved. When Lolth evolved together with your mother, Sylphy, his soul was somehow... separated from the rest. It’s hard to describe properly, but he’s definitely over there!"
"Well, that’s amazing, Dad. What are we waiting for? Let’s move," I said with renewed determination.
My mother nodded and stood back up, carefully brushing the dust from her white dress. "Here. I’ve created a fourth spell using the flames you shared with me earlier."
She placed her hand gently on my shoulder and began imbuing her strength into me.
I suddenly felt the crushing pressure of this realm lessen dramatically. What’s more, my divinity began flowing faster through my body and regenerating at a noticeably quicker rate.
"Mom, what is this?! This is amazing!" I exclaimed.
I honestly did not think I could ever create such an incredibly complex spell with my own current knowledge. This level of refinement was only possible because she was hundreds of years old and had been mastering magic for so long.
[You have received [Divine Flow Acceleration] Buff: Increases Divine Energy Flow Speed, Manipulation, and More by 200%.]
"Divine Flow Acceleration!" I said, reading the notification with growing excitement. "That sounds like something I could turn into a proper Cultivation Method as well."
"Go ahead and try," she nodded. "Just keep using it. I’ll share the complete magic circle with you. Here."
She pressed a small glowing imprint of the magic circle against my palm. I absorbed it instantly and began reproducing the structure on my own, stacking the same spell three times until I achieved a full 600% boost.
"Wow! Wow! Woow!" I said, practically bouncing on my feet. "T-This is incredible!"
I felt as though I had been completely reborn. The entire time we had been inside this realm I had been weighed down so heavily because my own flow of Divine Energy was simply too slow. By forcing it to circulate much faster through my body, I not only generated more energy through Divine Friction, but I could also move far more easily within areas filled with dense divine pressure.
As we continued moving forward, we climbed the long stairway that led to Floor 3. The moment we stepped onto the new level we were greeted with... nothing particularly fancy. It was a massive, completely flat area that stretched endlessly in every direction. Far, far away in the distance, a gigantic gold-and-purple crystal shaped like a dragon rose into the skies, its surface gleaming under an invisible light.
There, a powerful and familiar soul rested in silence.
"Flamie...!" my father said, his voice filled with emotion. "He’s there."
I nodded firmly. "Then let’s go. But... we’re not alone here. Stay prepared!"
