Three pillars of pure elemental light erupted with overwhelming force and completely destroyed the remaining enemies. They were left as scattered pieces of twisted metal, flickering fire, and shattered crystals. I quickly stored everything into my inventory by calling Glutton, who happily licked every last bit and piece from the floor until nothing remained.
"Alright! We’re done," my father said with a tired but satisfied voice.
"Yeah," my brother nodded firmly. "We should keep moving. Let’s keep up with the momentum we’ve been building so far."
Without any hesitation we advanced deeper into the fourth path. After a short while we reached a much vaster open area that split into three diverging paths. We used the same proven strategy as before. From two of the paths more divine beasts emerged at once — two massive centipedes and ten of the medium-sized constructs. We eliminated them with greater precision and much better combined attacks this time, finally beginning to figure out how these creatures truly fought.
We were learning their patterns, the way they moved, and the timing of their techniques. With every fight we found clearer ways to counter their magic and physical assaults. By hunting them down carefully we also gathered a large amount of their materials, all of which were extremely precious and rare.
Once we walked through the third and final path onto the last floating platform, we were greeted once again by a familiar staircase leading upward.
Every staircase in this place almost certainly summoned a guardian of some kind.
"Here we are. This is our way to Floor 3!" I said, trying to keep my voice steady. "You ready?"
Everyone nodded with determination. The moment we stepped onto the staircase a new "boss" appeared. This time there were no small fry or supporting monsters coming along with it.
The boss itself was a tall, humanoid golem made of gleaming gold and deep purple metal. It was not arachnoid like the previous ones. Standing ten meters tall before us, it possessed eight additional arms growing from its back. Each arm ended in a sharp, glowing blade.
It glared down at us with blazing purple-gold eyes and took a heavy step forward.
This one was clearly a pure fighting type. It specialized in close combat and moved with terrifying speed!
Shit!
I intercepted its ten swords with my much larger blade, then unleashed my full aura. Dozens of additional swords materialized around me as I combined my aura with several other skills at once.
I launched a rapid and relentless assault of attacks, trying to keep the golem completely busy so it could not focus on anyone else.
While this was happening my father and my brother flanked it from the left and right sides. Yet the construct simply and dexterously fought all three of us at the same time with its ten arms. It spun in place and then released a destructive spiral sword attack that expanded outward like a deadly whirlwind.
As we groaned and were forced to take a step back, my father walked straight toward the monster again and roared with pure fighting spirit. He swung his sword in a wide arc and unleashed a deadly wave of pure white flames.
The robotic golem answered with flames of its own. It unleashed dozens of rapid swinging motions, sending blazing sword-energy slashes flying toward my father one after another.
My brother and I transformed at the same time, unleashing more of our latent potential. I fused with the rest of my spirits that were not currently protecting our mother, and together we charged forward once more.
My brother channeled the dark power he possessed and stacked it on top of the Phoenix energy. Half of his armor turned pitch black while the other half remained brilliant gold.
A dense rain of sword attacks reached the monster from all directions without pause.
While we kept the pressure high, our mother charged a powerful cannon spell and fired the moment we moved out of the way.
The boss resisted the blast but looked clearly staggered by the heavy damage. We charged in again without giving it time to recover and managed to cut several of its arms clean off in a single coordinated rush.
Father followed immediately with a powerful thrust of his blade, piercing one of the glowing cores in its chest.
The boss responded with pure fury. It kicked my father away with tremendous force and then combined its remaining blades into one gigantic sword that it controlled telekinetically.
It swung the massive weapon around in wide, dancing arcs, forcing us to constantly retreat under the relentless pressure.
"You guys!"
My divine familiars nodded at once. They appeared around the monster from every side and unleashed their combined triangle attack.
The elemental triangle trapped the golem in place for several precious seconds and gave us the exact opening we needed. We slashed at it from all angles while our mother continued firing her cannon spell without stopping.
We released our auras completely and embodied them fully, infusing every ounce of that power into our swords. We spammed our triple sword technique again and again, then followed with the quadruple spell the moment the golem tried to counter with divine flames of its own.
We roared together with everything we had left, putting every last bit of effort and strength into the final assault. At last the giant construct collapsed onto its knees and shattered into countless pieces.
In that moment we dropped our weapons and collapsed onto the floor as well. The pressure in this place was already overwhelming, and I was still a little tired from recovering earlier. This fight really was not doing my body any favors.
I sincerely hoped the last boss would not be even harder than this one.
"Everyone...! Here, get better."
My mother quickly healed us with her magic and then offered several of her strongest elixirs. We drank about four of them each. Our stamina recovered rapidly and the deep ache in our muscles slowly faded away.
"Phew... well, that was exhausting," my father sighed while wiping sweat from his brow. "I... I really didn’t think it would be this damn tough."
"Yeah," my brother nodded in agreement, still catching his breath.
"Scale-wise it’s smaller than some of the previous threats," I said after a moment. "But it felt harder than when we fought that True Demon that invaded the Dungeon, remember Dad?"
