Bai Juetian reaffirms his loyalty to the Second Prince, who inquires about Princess Consort You's confinement. Meanwhile, three of the Twelve Generals—Bone Tiger, Zhuge Shi, and Deceit Rat—prepare to ambush Mr. Xu as he escorts the Heavenly Mechanism Pavilion Master.

Mr. Xu, honored as the Eldest Godson of the Heavenly Mechanism Pavilion Master, has extensive real estate holdings in the Capital.

But there are only two residences he frequently returns to.

The first is inside the Imperial Palace, the residence within Tianji Pavilion, which allows him to be closer to the Heavenly Mechanism Pavilion Master, facilitating his protection and service.

In the earlier years, Mr. Xu resided in this dwelling long-term, laboring for public duty and was known as the Pavilion Master’s left and right arms, a great son.

However, as he grew more independent, in recent years Mr. Xu has lived in a large estate outside the Imperial Palace.

On the surface, Mr. Xu appeared to be expanding his own influence, but organizational investigations revealed that the Pavilion Master had other plans for him, assigning him tasks outside the Imperial Palace.

For instance, the rise of the Anqiao Pavilion involved Mr. Xu’s handiwork.

But it’s impossible for Mr. Xu to accomplish this alone; there’s certainly significant backing behind him.

To carry out tasks outside the Imperial Palace, tonight Mr. Xu must return to his estate.

Within the organization, speculation has already been made, regarding the visit from the Demon Capital Envoy—their origins, background, whom they’ve interacted with, and every little detail must be thoroughly investigated as per Tianji Pavilion’s duties.

Such important tasks must be entrusted to someone reliable.

"Mr. Xu cannot be spared," Bone Tiger chuckled, flexing his bones and shoulders, emitting a creaking sound.

"The Anqiao Pavilion cannot be spared," Zhuge Shi coldly stated, as her pink hair began to change color, shedding its hue for cold, dark black, her facial features gradually altering, height slowly increasing, transforming completely into another visage.

"Ssssss! Ssssssss!" Qianshe’s body writhed, under the black robe, countless small snakes crawled, making a sinister rustling sound.

"Qianshe’s right, blind the enemy’s eyes first before acting. It’s unfortunate that Mr. Xu happened to be caught in the crossfire."

As soon as Deceit Rat finished speaking, he lay flat on the ground and vanished, leaving only a squeaking sound in the surroundings, audible only to certain species, beyond human hearing!

Deceit Rat had already moved.

Sure enough, in the next moment, the horse pulling the carriage ahead started acting strange.

As if hearing an unsettling sound, it suddenly raised its forelegs high, nostrils flaring, eyes scanning nervously.

"Whoa—"

The coachman responded, his gaze puzzled as he couldn’t detect anything amiss.

Then, the coachman saw that beneath the surface skin of the horse’s massive head, peculiar changes were happening. Instantly transforming, a horse selectively bred at the Xu Mansion with Demon Blood, its whole head seemed ready to explode!

Wait!

The throbbing veins were moving?

Wriggling and crawling inside the horse’s head?

Having driven for many years, the coachman had never witnessed such manifestations, his eyes widening and mouth gaping instinctively as he was about to speak...

Boom!!

The horse’s head suddenly exploded!

With blood spurting everywhere, countless small snakes hidden within the head squirmed and scattered in all directions.

From the headless horse’s deep, dark wound, more snakes writhed within, in numbers so vast that the coachman instinctively retched!

"Who!"

"What’s happening!"

"Protect the Lord!"

These changes happened quickly, in mere seconds.

The carriage stopped suddenly, the coachman couldn’t explain why, and before anyone in the carriage could look out to assess the situation, the horse’s head exploded.

Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!

Three guards jumped out immediately, vigilantly scanning the surroundings.

Mr. Xu is a martial arts expert.

Experts, having great courage and skills.

Thus, he only kept a few personal guards, refusing to carry a large entourage.

Even so, these guards were no pushovers.

One had a head as large as an urn; under his wide-brimmed hat, he resembled a Big-headed Demon, and without the head gear, no one would mistake him for Human.

Another pulled off a cloak from his right hand, revealing a living Shark Demon’s head grafted onto it, ready to unleash a torrent of seawater.

The last one spread his arms, sharp metal spikes protruded from his forearm as jagged teeth emerged on his face.

These three were highly demonized martial artists prone to lose their minds and rampage due to combat!

"Demonization!"

"Demonization!"

"Demonization!"

Even then, they weren’t satisfied with their demonic appearance, or strength, shouting in unison, making their demonization traits even more prominent!

"Over there!"

Shark Hand seemed to locate the target, directing the shark head to aim, seawater spraying forth from his hand.

Sizzle, sizzle, sizzle!

The spraying seawater, sharp like Qi Blades, kept striking invisible entities.

"To be able to find me... your hand doesn’t perceive like an ordinary martial artist.

Amid the seawater’s rush, Deceit Rat’s hunchbacked figure was revealed; rolling over, the seawater passed, and he was gone.

Crunch!

Crunch!

Crunch!

Big Head Man widened his mouth, gnawing at the air with teeth clashing together.

The sound was like invisible soundwaves, reverberating outward.

Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom!

Water barrels along the street burst, splashing their contents.

The sound waves echoed off nearby walls, completing a cycle, launching another stronger cycle to unveil positions.

"Two in the eastern direction, one in the northwest, and one’s location is unknown!"

He loudly reported intelligence, but his expression changed.

Upon reporting positions, the trio shifted instantly!

So fast! So fast! So fast!!

What kind of movement technique was this, to relocate completely from original spots in an instant!

Where are they? Where are they? Where are they!

Big Head continued clashing his teeth like drums, anxiously turning his head, and suddenly...

Crunch!

His teeth met something.

Hard, incredibly hard, unyielding even to his demonized massive head, couldn’t bite through.

He then saw an addition before him.

No, not human—better described as... a humanoid skeleton!

What he bit was the rigid hand bone of that humanoid skeleton!

Couldn’t bite through?

From within, he felt deep panic, seeing... a smile?

Whoosh——

The hand bone reached through, grabbing his tongue.

Realizing its intent...

"Wait..."

Rip!!

His tongue was yanked out by the hand bone!

His massive demonized tongue, like a fat worm spewing blood, Big Head was forced painfully onto knees.

But peering down, he saw humanoid skeleton feet.

Struggling to lift his head, he saw the scornful grin of the skeleton hovering above.

Raised the bone hand, smashed down.

Bam!!!

Big Head’s skull shattered like fragile glass, top of the skull’s fragments scattering as his consciousness plunged into darkness.

The post-mortem agony of having the hand bone stirring his brain was spared.

While Bone Tiger settled Big Head, the other two were already on the ground.

Shark Hand’s corpse lay covered by countless snakes, seemingly corroded by potent acid, with hardly any body parts left intact.

Metal Spike Guard’s arms chewed short, eyeballs inhabited by squeaking rats, only a hollow shell remained, insides devoured clean.
