A: My initial thought was that this narrative would incorporate numerous everyday, slice-of-life elements. If it were a paid publication, many readers might opt to skip these sections to manage costs. Therefore, I aimed for free access to ensure that the majority of readers could experience the story in its entirety.

A: I'd assess it as average. While I'm tempted to praise myself, realism prevails. Inspiration naturally began to wane during the mid-to-later stages of the novel. Fortunately, the conclusion still felt satisfying.

A: The current established lore is that Xu Xi functions as an independent, self-contained entity. Earlier drafts explored an origin connected to a Daoist sect, but I deemed it superfluous. As the finale approached and I wished to avoid introducing further tragedy, that concept was discarded.

Q: What is the reason behind the name Xu Xi?

A: The surname was chosen arbitrarily. The character 'Xi' was specifically selected because it signifies 'system.' During the outlining phase, I consistently envisioned Xu Xi as akin to a 'grandfather figure bestowing cheat codes,' empowering the heroines.

Q: Following the completion of this book, what are your plans for commencing a new project?

A: I intend to take a two-month sabbatical. Several ideas have surfaced, but none have yet ignited a strong creative impulse, so a period of rest is prioritized.

Unbeknownst to me, this novel has now surpassed the one million-word mark.

My writing journey commenced on September 10th, 2024, but if we consider the true start of my outlining process, it's been a full year.

On my computer's desktop, a TXT document served as a repository for this book's inspirations. Each time a narrative segment was finalized, I would prune the outline and incorporate fresh concepts.

Just moments ago.

Having concluded all narrative arcs, I proceeded to erase the entirety of that document's outline.

Gazing at the now-empty digital canvas, I opened and closed the file approximately ten times, finally grasping the profound weight of this accomplishment.

The document itself was created on July 9th, 2024.

Coincidentally, today marks precisely one year from that date—no more, no less.

No further updates will be necessary.

The saga of Xu Xi is now definitively concluded, exactly one year after its inception.

Should I express gratitude? That sentiment doesn't feel entirely accurate. I am, however, immensely pleased that so many individuals found enjoyment in this work and accompanied Xu Xi until its very conclusion.
