Kill the Sun Chapter 992 Epilogue

Previously on Kill the Sun...
The Duskbringer and Daniel returned to a ravaged Earth, coordinating the rescue of survivors and setting up Starbreaker Base while mapping out a plan for Earth's recovery. They traveled to Mars, where they convinced the leaders of humanity to suppress hostile Specters and adapt genetically to endure the harsh environment. On Venus, the Duskbringer assumed control to reshape the human population into Pure Energy absorbers, establishing a symbiotic relationship between the three planets. As centuries passed, they developed the ultimate antimatter weapon, and with it, Daniel launched a decisive strike against a powerful Nightman, culminating in the Duskbringer embracing his identity as Nick Dusk, the Emperor of Humanity.

As the following years passed, the growth of humanity persisted without pause.

Eventually, after several centuries had rolled by, visitors arrived at the borders of human space.

It was the Amorphous Race.

Rather than a fleet of warriors, however, these arrivals were diplomats.

The vessel carried two Representatives who held the highest authority, and they were accompanied by a pair of Strategists.

Notably, no entity of the Tenth Realm was among them.

Nick initiated contact with these Representatives, and the two parties began their dialogue.

The ensuing negotiations were grueling.

The initial proposal from the Representatives was for humanity to be recruited as a vassal state.

In exchange for Zephyx, they offered to provide humanity with protection.

Nick, however, dismissed that suggestion immediately.

Humanity had no requirement for their protection.

When the diplomats turned to threats, Nick simply called their bluff.

He told them they were welcome to attack. Humanity had already dispatched two Generals, and they had done so without even utilizing their most devastating weaponry.

The Tribe was free to deploy more forces, but the result would be total annihilation.

Humanity was no longer the fragile race it had been during the first war.

The Amorphous Race contacted the Mother and returned a short time later.

This time, they presented entirely different terms.

An alliance.

The Mother was seeking to recruit warriors to bolster her side in the conflict against the other Tribes.

In return, humanity would be granted access to advanced technology and rare resources.

Nick agreed to these conditions, but only under the stipulation that their warriors would not fall under the Mother’s direct command.

The Mother would designate the targets she wanted eliminated, and humanity would decide the methods of execution for themselves.

Both sides reached an agreement.

While humanity naturally harbored a deep hatred for the Amorphous Race, they required a gateway to understand the inner workings of the universe.

Over the following centuries, humanity assisted the Tribe, and the momentum of the war began to shift.

Nick performed the majority of the heavy lifting, yet the Amorphous Race never realized he was the one responsible.

The Tribe would provide a target, and by some means, humanity would ensure its destruction.

The Mother remained ignorant of their methods.

She naturally attempted to send spies and scouts to uncover humanity’s secrets, but for some unknown reason, none of these agents ever made it back.

It was obvious that the humans were killing the spies, but the Mother had no grounds to complain.

After all, sending spies was a violation of their arrangement in the first place.

Furthermore, whenever humanity neutralized a target, they claimed all the spoils and resources for themselves.

While the Mother’s enemies were being whittled away, she gained no material wealth from these victories.

A millennium later, the war concluded with the Mother emerging as the victor.

With her Tribe no longer under siege, she was free to harvest as much Pure Energy as she desired.

The Tribe began its recovery.

She advanced her Cultivation until she reached the Peak Tenth Realm.

Following this, she birthed a massive legion of Tenth Realm warriors…

And commanded them all to eliminate the humans.

More than 200 warriors of the Tenth Realm were mobilized.

As the army entered the solar system, a strange event occurred.

Every single one of them began to convulse before dropping dead.

If Nick possessed one supreme talent, it was the art of infiltration.

He had anticipated this betrayal a long time ago.

He had successfully infiltrated the Mother’s Tribe and altered the nourishment used to empower the warriors after their birth.

The modification was so subtle that it went unnoticed until the moment Nick triggered the killswitch.

Once the warriors perished, Nick moved in to consume them all.

Being a Pure Energy entity with a Soul, Nick was capable of siphoning Pure Energy directly from other beings.

After absorbing the power of the fallen army, Nick ascended to the Peak Tenth Realm and sought out the Mother.

There was no grand battle.

True to his style, it was a silent and efficient assassination.

Not a single member of her race witnessed Nick’s arrival or his departure.

In one breath, their Mother was alive; in the next, she was gone.

Nick naturally consumed her and the rest of her remaining warriors as well.

Deprived of the Mother, the Tribe was destined to slowly fade away.

However, this was not the sole Tribe inhabiting the universe.

Many others existed.

Humanity established contact with various other races and opened diplomatic channels.

The Human Empire eventually joined a galactic alliance alongside several other species.

But, as is the nature of the galaxy, that alliance was locked in conflict with rival factions.

Nick was dissatisfied with the way the alliance governed some of its members and decided to implement changes.

His ambition had always been to protect the weak, and that conviction remained firm.

Humanity suffered the loss of many lucrative trade agreements because Nick refused to endorse unethical practices, but this did not hinder their progress.

They continued to advance regardless.

It was during this era that Nick discovered a fascinating piece of information.

In theory, reaching the Eleventh Realm was possible.

Historical records showed that some beings had managed to achieve the Eleventh Realm in the past.

Yet, none of them remained in the known universe.

It seemed that those who reached the Eleventh Realm tended to disappear after a certain period for mysterious reasons.

They would be present one day and simply vanish the next.

Because of this phenomenon, the most powerful leaders stayed at the Peak Tenth Realm, fearing the prospect of vanishing.

They possessed the resources to ascend to the Eleventh Realm if they wished.

However, they chose not to use them for advancement.

Nick governed humanity for thousands of years.

The Empire remained stable and prosperous.

While Kiran was no longer among them, Daniel had also reached the Peak Tenth Realm.

Daniel was fully capable of guiding humanity.

Nick came to the realization that his presence was no longer a necessity for humanity’s survival.

Even if he were to pass away, the human race would endure.

They were now powerful enough to protect their own future.

The crushing weight of responsibility finally lifted from Nick’s shoulders.

He no longer had to survive solely for the sake of others.

He was finally at liberty to follow his own path.

Nick was not the type of man to stop moving forward.

He sought a new objective.

He had secured humanity’s place and had corrected the injustices within the galactic alliance.

The only task remaining was to maintain the status quo forever.

But that kind of existence held no appeal for Nick.

Thus, Nick made the decision to ascend to the Eleventh Realm.

Once he had advanced, Nick bid his final farewell to Daniel.

He intended to explore the vast, uncharted reaches of space to see what mysteries lay in wait.

And with that, Nick disappeared.

He never came back.

Humanity, however, never lost his memory.

He was revered as the first Emperor of humanity.

He was the savior who had secured their freedom.

Occasionally, rumors would surface of a lone human who claimed to have seen the Emperor, though the truth of such encounters remained a mystery.

Nick was the mightiest human to ever live, and he had established the most powerful Empire in existence.

Now, the time for living for others had ended.

It was finally time for him to live for himself.
