The situation escalates when the teacher notices the disturbance, and the protagonist, now identified as Mara, is forced to hold down the desk while something unseen brushes against their hand. The protagonist then finds a repair request for Desk 26, the desk of the boy sitting next to them, and as they compare the dates, the boy turns to look directly at them.
