Magic City - Auction
Auctioneer Elowen looked toward the VIP section. She was not looking at the ground floor; she knew they couldn’t afford to make the bid.
"140,000 once!"she said.
Her words reverberated throughout the auction house. The wizards seated on the ground floor were expecting someone to increase the price again.
They were all looking toward the VIP section as well. Only they could afford to increase the price. Some were looking toward the room of the female wizard,
while others were looking at the room of the person whose voice was deep. Some were also looking at the room that quoted the current bidding price.
Elder Elowen knew that the clock was ticking. A couple of seconds had already gone by. She could not waste any more time.
She said, "140,000 goes twice."
Hearing that, everyone was shocked. They didn’t expect the VIPs to be quiet, but people with discerning eyes could tell that they were likely waiting for the final auction item.
Nobody wanted to bet money on an unknown antique piece. It didn’t matter whether the antique piece was attractive or not,
because the final auction item was not going to be some unknown item. It had to be better than the current auction item.
The female wizard made a decision not to bid. Her target was the final auction item. It was the same case with the others.
They were not ready to take a risk on this auction item.
Auctioneer Elowen saw that no one was going to make a bid now.
She said, "140,000 goes thrice. The final bid is won by the gentleman in the 5th room."
Gasp!
A loud exclamation occurred. Finally, the bid was won by someone in the VIP rooms. They were curious whether the person had identified the item or not.
Not only them; the other VIPs were curious as well.
The Manager and the Magic Lord were shocked. Both of them showed greed in their hearts. They had confirmed the fact that the young man in the 5th room didn’t have a bodyguard.
They all started having conversations in their minds. The Magic Lord decided to target the young man. He knew that the Manager might be thinking about doing the same.
The Manager had helpers in the city, but the old Magic Lord had his own ways.
Meanwhile,
I was smiling inside the room. I didn’t expect to get the special relic for this amount. The zero puppet in red smoke form was hovering next to me.
I stood up from the seat and walked up to the door.
Creak!
I opened the door and saw the staff outside. Two female staff members along with the manager had come to the room. It was the same manager who had given me the passkey.
I greeted them inside.
"Young guest, I didn’t expect you to be from a rich background," the Manager said, but his real intention was to gather information.
To that, I smiled and didn’t respond. Instead, I took the mana pouch from my storage bracelet and gave it to him.
The Manager’s smile disappeared. He accepted the pouch. He didn’t know why he felt a strange pressure here.
He looked at the young man. He confirmed that the young man was a Supreme Wizard. He looked around and found that the room was empty.
He understood that the young man didn’t have followers either.
On the other hand, I accepted the storage box. I opened the storage box in front of them. I saw the unknown metal object inside.
[Ding! A worn-out special relic was detected. Does the host want to use the item? YES/NO]
I heard the system voice in my mind, but I didn’t use it right away. I stored the relic inside the storage bracelet.
The Manager saw these actions. His eyes gleamed with a twinkle. He was already thinking about attacking and looting the unknown item.
Now that he confirmed the fact that the young man had no support, he was going to act right away. The Manager left the room with the female staff.
When they were all gone, my eyes turned icy cold. I didn’t like the vibe of the manager at all. I was sure he was going to do something.
Next, I shut the door and returned to my seat. Then I took out the special relic under the gaze of the zero puppet in red smoke form.
I held the unknown metal object in my hand. I heard the system reminder in my mind. Then I said yes to the system’s question.
Next, the unknown metal object disappeared before my eyes. It was consumed by the system. The next second, I felt something changing in my body, mind, and soul.
It reminded me of a talent level-up. Such a change happened when an awakened talent was leveled up to the next tier.
I waited until the transformation was over.
On the other hand, the VIPs all had different intentions. They ordered their followers and the guardians outside to collect intel on the person staying in the 5th room.
They wanted to know if the person was from a big family or had stumbled upon a fortune. If the latter was true, then they would attack for sure.
However, the female wizard and the person with the deep male voice didn’t do anything like that. They felt it was unnecessary to bother.
It was because the item was just an unknown object found in the ruins. There was a high chance the item would turn out to be a failure. They didn’t have to stress over something like that.
Outside,
Auctioneer Elowen was ready for the next auction item. It was not the final auction item, but the item right before it.
She said, "It’s time for the next item. It’s the item before the final auction item: a 10th Grade Mid-Tier healing potion. It has a slight effect on Magic Lord-level injuries as well."
"The base price starts at 90,000 Mid-Grade Mana Stones," she added.
Gasp!
Another loud gasp sounded. The wizards seated on the ground floor were shocked again. Last time, the final auction item was set at this amount.
So they were curious about what the final auction item was going to be next. They were also looking toward the VIP rooms.
