Leo and Bella discuss the gender of their unborn baby, with Leo playfully insisting it will be a girl, while also acknowledging he will love a son just as much. Bella is touched by his paternal affection. Later, Bella tries to initiate intimacy, but Leo prioritizes her rest, claiming he knows what the baby needs through "father instinct."

Bella’s expression became even more offended, her eyes widening. "Father instinct doesn’t exist."

"It does now."

She stared at him for several seconds, clearly trying to decide whether she wanted to laugh or argue.

She chose arguing.

"You’ve known you’re a father again for less than a day and you’re already acting like an expert."

"I’m learning quickly and you can call me expert because I knew how to handle Elil."

"You’re becoming annoying quickly."

Leo smiled, the corners of his eyes crinkling. "That’s also impressive."

Bella grabbed the pillow beside her and hugged it tightly against her chest, turning her face away from him. "I’m not sleeping."

Leo looked at her pout.

He knew she was genuinely irritated but there was something almost adorable about how quickly her expression had changed. A few minutes ago, she had been laughing and pinching his waist. Now she looked as though he had personally ruined her entire evening.

He reached over and gently brushed a strand of hair away from her cheek, his fingers rested against her skin. "Okay."

Bella glanced at him suspiciously, one eye peeking out from behind the pillow. "Okay?"

"You don’t have to sleep right now."

Her expression immediately softened, relief flooding her features. "Really?"

"Really."

A tiny smile appeared on her face, tugging at the corners of her mouth.

Then Leo continued, "But from tomorrow onward, you’ll sleep early and wake up early."

Her smile disappeared.

"And you’ll do some light exercise.".

Her face went completely blank, her eyes deadening.

Leo watched the transformation happen right in front of him, biting back a smile. "...Why are you looking at me like that?"

Bella slowly lowered the pillow. "Exercise?"

"Yes." He nodded.

"I just said I don’t want to sleep." Bella replied, annoyed.

"I know."

"And your solution is exercise?" She asked in disbelief.

"Not immediately."

Bella stared at him, her gaze flat. "Leo."

"Hmm?"

"I’m pregnant, you remember right." Bella said, making a face.

"I know." He replied happily.

"I’m supposed to be pampered." Then she said, looking at him with her lips puckered.

"You will be." He said without hesitation.

"Then why are you giving me homework?"

Leo chuckled, the sound low and warm. "Because I want you and the baby to stay healthy."

Bella’s eyes suddenly became suspiciously shiny, glistening in the dim light.

Leo’s smile disappeared, replaced by immediate concern. "What happened?"

"Nothing." She said quietly.

"Bunny." He became panicked.

"Nothing!" Her voice became slightly louder and she immediately looked away, her chin trembling.

Leo blinked, his heart lurching.

A moment later, Bella sniffed softly, rubbing her nose.

"I just..." She rubbed her nose and frowned at him, her eyes watery. "You were so sweet five minutes ago."

"I am still sweet." He said quickly, panicked because of her.

"No, you’re not." Bella said, sniffing.

"I bought us books." He said. "So we can do better parenting and care for you."

"That doesn’t count." Bella shook her head.

"I carried you upstairs." He quickly made her remember.

"You didn’t let me walk." She said sadly.

"Exactly."

Bella’s eyes became even more watery, her bottom lip wobbling. "You don’t understand me."

Leo immediately softened.

He quickly wrapped his arms around her, pulling her against his chest. "I understand that my wife is currently very emotional."

"I’m not emotional." Bella said angrily.

"Of course not." He agreed with her, just to make her happy.

"I just don’t like your stupid rules." She replied back with her face having the cutest, most adorable angry expression he ever saw.

"I know." He said quickly.

"And I don’t want to exercise." She said, thinking about exercise made her feel lazy. She didn’t want to do exercise.

"We can make it very light." He said because he had read somewhere that for pregnant women, light exercise and movements are good.

"I don’t want to wake up early." Bella said, pouting.

"We’ll figure it out."

She huffed, but it came out softer this time. Less like a protest and more like a tired sigh. "And I don’t want to sleep early."

He didn’t answer right away.

"We’ll negotiate that later."

Bella looked at him for a moment, finding love and worry swimming together in his gray eyes.

He was scared. She could see it now. Under all that patience, he was terrified of doing something wrong.

She suddenly leaned forward and hugged him tightly, her arms wrapping around his neck. She buried her face in the crook of his neck and breathed him in.

Leo’s arms automatically wrapped around her, holding her close.

"I love you," she mumbled against his chest, her voice muffled.

His expression softened completely, his heart swelling. "I love you too."

A few seconds passed. The room was quiet except for the soft sound of their breathing. His hand moved up and down her back in slow, soothing strokes.

Bella pulled back and looked at him, her eyes still slightly glassy. "But I’m still angry."

Leo nodded solemnly, his expression serious. "I know."

"And I don’t want exercise." Bella mumbled.

He didn’t argue or try to convince her. Just pressed his lips to her hair and murmured, "I know."

She pulled back just enough to look at him, her eyes still glassy but stubborn. "And tomorrow I’m sleeping late."

Leo exhaled slowly, tilting his head like he was actually considering it. His thumb traced small circles against her shoulder while he pretended to think.

"We’ll discuss that."

Her eyes narrowed, "Leo."

He immediately kissed her forehead, his lips pressing warm against her skin. "Fine. No arguments tonight."

Bella’s expression softened again, the tension draining from her shoulders.

She settled against him, her body fit perfectly against his.

Leo looked down at her and smiled, his heart full.

He had no idea how many mood changes he was going to survive during the next nine months.

But judging by the way his wife had already gone from laughing, to angry, to almost crying, to hugging him and then back to being annoyed within a few minutes, he suspected he was going to need all the patience he possessed.

And strangely enough, he didn’t mind at all. Not even a little bit...
