Leo displays an overwhelming amount of care and attention towards Bella after learning about her pregnancy. He carries her, reads pregnancy books, and ensures her comfort. Bella questions his unusual protectiveness, but he explains it's because she's carrying their baby. As Bella wonders how they'll announce the news, Leo playfully suggests making everyone wait.

"You’re getting very mischievous today." His voice was warm. "Looks like the baby is very very naughty..."

Bella giggled, that sound very light and airy and placed one hand over her stomach where his fingers had been tracing lazy patterns. "Obviously. The baby is very mischievous." She tilted her head back against his chest, peering up at him through thick lashes. "Do you think it’s a boy or a girl?"

Leo chuckled softly, the deep rumble moving through his chest and his hand settled over hers on her tummy. His thumb moved in slow circles against the fabric of her shirt. "Baby girl."

She looked at him curiously, her eyebrows lifting toward her hairline. "How do you know?"

"I just know." He said it casually like he was stating the weather.

Bella smiled and rubbed her tummy gently. "Who knows? There could be a little boy in there."

Leo shook his head immediately, his jaw setting with mock seriousness. "I want a baby girl."

"You’ve already decided?" She asked, raising her brows.

"Yes." He said seriously.

"And what if it’s a boy?" She asked.

He looked down at her stomach with complete seriousness, his gray eyes narrowing slightly as if he could see straight through to the tiny life inside. "Then I’ll love him."

Her smile softened, her heart squeezing at the gentle certainty in his voice. "But?"

"But I’m still going to hope for a girl." He said.

She giggled again, her shoulders shaking against him. "You really want a daughter?"

Leo nodded without hesitation, his expression earnest. "I want a tiny little girl who looks like you."

Bella’s cheeks warmed and the heat spread down her neck, flushing her skin pink. "Aww."

"And I’ll spoil her."

"Oh wow..." Bella looked happy hearing this, her eyes going soft and dreamy.

"She can have anything she wants."

Bella looked at him suspiciously, one eyebrow quirking up. "You’ll spoil her too much."

"I’ll be her father." He shrugged one shoulder, completely unapologetic. "That’s my job."

She laughed and leaned closer, her shoulder pressing against his arm. "And what about if it’s a boy?"

Leo placed his hand over hers and his fingers curled around hers. "Then I’ll have my little son." His expression softened and his eyes went distant for a moment, like he was already imagining it, a small boy with skinned knees and a gap-toothed grin. "Either way, I’ll be happy."

Bella looked down at their hands resting over her stomach, his larger fingers intertwined with hers. Her heart melted at the thought. She could almost see it. A tiny boy with Leo’s gray eyes. A tiny girl with her brown ones. Either way, their baby.

She smiled, the corners of her mouth tugging upward. "Maybe the baby is listening to you."

Leo’s eyes lowered toward her stomach and he looked at it for a long moment, his gaze intense and focused. "Then listen carefully, little one."

Bella covered her mouth to hide another giggle, her eyes crinkling at the corners.

Leo continued with complete seriousness, his voice low and firm, like he was giving an order to a subordinate. "Your father wants a daughter."

Bella laughed so hard that she had to lean against him, her body shaking with the force of it. "Leo!"

He smiled, his eyes warm with amusement. "What? I’m making my request early."

She wiped her eyes and looked at him. His gray eyes were warm and his lips were curved into a small, genuine smile. He looked happy. Really happy.

She reached up and touched his cheek, her fingertips brushing against the slight stubble along his jaw. "You’re going to be such a good father."

Leo turned his head and kissed her palm, his lips pressing warm and firm against her skin. "I am."

Bella smiled at him for a moment before she leaned up and kissed his lips.

Leo froze for barely a second.

Then his arm slipped around her waist and he deepened the kiss. Bella’s fingers curled lightly into his shirt as she melted into him, her heart fluttering as she felt his warmth so close to her.

When they finally parted, Bella looked at him through her eyelashes, her gaze expectant.

She waited.

Leo looked at her, his expression unreadable.

Then, without saying anything, he simply pulled her into his arms.

Bella blinked, confusion flickering across her face. "...Leo?"

"Hmm?"

He tucked her comfortably against his chest, one arm wrapped securely around her while his other hand rested gently over her stomach.

Bella stared at him, her brow furrowing.

She had expected something completely different... like getting some good night exercise.

Instead, Leo adjusted the blanket around her, kissed her forehead and closed his eyes.

"Sleep, bunny."

Bella’s eyes widened, her mouth falling open. "Sleep?"

"Mhm."

He sounded completely content.

Bella remained frozen in his arms, her mind scrambling to catch up. "That’s it?"

Leo opened one eye, peering at her. "What else?"

She stared at him, utterly speechless.

He looked genuinely innocent.

"You need rest."

Bella’s eyes narrowed immediately, her lips pressing into a thin line. "No, I don’t want to take rest," she said, pulling the blanket away from herself with a little huff. "I’m not tired."

Leo watched her for a moment, already recognizing that particular expression. Her mood had been changing so quickly since they received the news that he almost didn’t know which version of his wife he was going to meet from one minute to the next.

"But the baby wants to take rest, bunny," he said seriously, his tone gentle but firm. "You can’t make bad habits for the baby."

Bella froze, her hand stilling on the blanket.

She slowly turned her head toward him, her eyes narrowing to slits. "...What?"

Leo remained completely serious, his expression unchanged.

"The baby needs proper rest." He repeated.

Bella stared at him as if he had just said something completely ridiculous, her mouth opening and closing.

"How do you know what the baby wants?" She asked.

Leo glanced at her stomach, his gaze dropping briefly. "I just know."

"You just know?" Bella asked seriously.

"Mhm."

Bella’s lips pressed into a pout, her bottom lip jutting out. "The baby can’t even talk."

"It doesn’t have to."

"Then how did it tell you?" She asked, tilting her head.

Leo thought for a moment, his brow furrowing slightly. "Father instinct."
