Bella had watched him carry them into the car with the most serious expression imaginable.

Now, one of those books was sitting beside him. He had already marked several pages with small sticky notes.

Bella stared at him.

Leo caught her gaze. "What?"

She narrowed her eyes. "Nothing."

"You’ve been staring at me for five minutes." He glanced at her from the corner of his eye.

"I’m trying to understand you." Her voice was serious.

Leo raised an eyebrow. "What’s there to understand?"

"You."

He glanced at her. Then at the book. Then back at her. "I don’t understand."

Bella shook her head.

When they finally reached home, Leo got out first and immediately walked around to her side of the car.

Before Bella could even open the door properly, he had already pulled it open and held out his hand.

She stared at him. "I can get out myself."

"I know."

Still, he waited until she took his hand.

The moment she stepped onto the ground, his other hand settled carefully at her back.

Bella glanced at him suspiciously. "I’m just walking."

"I can see that."

They hadn’t even taken ten steps when Leo slowed his pace.

Bella looked at him helplessly. "Why are you walking so slowly?"

"So you don’t trip."

She stared at him. "I have been walking since I was a baby."

Leo ignored that.

When they reached the stairs, he looked at them as though they had personally offended him.

Bella noticed. "Leo."

"Hmm?" He didn’t look at her.

"It’s a staircase. Why are you glaring at them?"

"I know."

He glanced at her. Then at the stairs. Then back at her.

Bella immediately understood what he was thinking. "Don’t you dare."

Leo’s arms suddenly slipped beneath her knees and around her back.

"Leo!" Bella gasped, her hands flying to his shoulders.

He lifted her effortlessly.

"I can walk!" she protested.

"I know."

"Then put me down!" She tapped his back.

"No."

Bella stared at him in disbelief as he calmly carried her upstairs.

"You’ve become crazy," she muttered.

His lips curved. "Your mood swings are cute."

Bella’s eyes widened. "My what?"

Leo’s smile became even more shameless. "Your mood swings."

"I don’t have mood swings!" she said, her voice rising.

"You just yelled at me three times." His expression turned sad.

"Because you’re irritating me!"

"Exactly."

Bella smacked his arm lightly.

Leo looked down at her hand. Then at her face. And smiled stupidly.

Bella’s expression became speechless. "What are you smiling at?"

"You."

"Why?"

"You’re cute when you’re angry."

She stared at him. Then she sighed and buried her face against his chest.

Leo carried her all the way to their bedroom. He pushed the door open with his shoulder and walked inside. Then he carefully set her down on the bed as though she were made of glass.

Bella looked up at him. "I’m not fragile."

Leo looked at her stomach. Then at her face.

"You’re carrying our baby."

"I know."

"So you’re fragile."

Bella stared at him. "That’s not how it works."

Leo ignored her. He pulled the blanket over her legs and adjusted the pillow behind her back.

"Do you need anything?" His voice was serious.

"No."

"Water?"

"No."

"Food?"

"Leo."

"Snack?"

"Leo!"

He stopped. His gray eyes were wide and innocent.

Bella sighed. "I’m fine. I just want to rest."

Leo nodded. He pulled a chair beside the bed and sat down. Then he opened one of his pregnancy books and started reading.

Bella watched him. "What are you doing?"

"Reading." He said.

"I can see that. Why?"

"Because I need to know what to do."

"About what?"

"About everything."

Bella stared at him. Then her expression softened.

She reached out and placed her hand over his.

Leo turned his hand over and laced his fingers through hers.

"By the way..." Bella suddenly looked up at him, a small smile spreading across her face. "How do you plan to reveal this good news to everyone?"

Leo looked down at her.

For a moment, he didn’t answer. He just looked at her, his gray eyes soft like he was still trying to believe this was real.

Bella’s heart felt almost too full.

There was Eli, their little boy who had already brought so much happiness into their home. And now there was another tiny baby growing inside her.

And Jay and Jace were waiting for their little one too.

Two tiny babies. Coming into their family around the same time.

The thought alone made Bella feel almost dizzy with happiness.

She smiled to herself and, unable to contain it, reached over and gave Leo’s waist a playful pinch.

Leo looked at her speechlessly.

Bella tried to look innocent.

"What?" Her eyes were wide.

His eyes narrowed slightly.

"You just pinched me."

"I did?"

Bella’s smile widened.

"Yes."

"Maybe."

Leo stared at her for another second. Then a helpless smile broke across his face.

"I don’t know what to do with you."

Bella slipped her arms around his waist and rested her cheek against his chest.

"You can’t stay mad at me."

Leo’s expression softened.

He wrapped his arms around her, holding her close. His hand settled over her stomach, resting there naturally.

Then he looked down at her.

"As for telling everyone..."

Bella lifted her head.

"Hmm?"

A small, mischievous smile appeared on his face.

"I think we should let them suffer a little first."

Bella’s eyes widened.

"Ohh..." She looked genuinely shocked for a second before a giggle escaped her. "I didn’t expect this from you."

Leo looked at her with a faintly amused expression.

"Why not?"

"Because you’re usually the serious one."

"I am serious."

"That’s exactly why it’s surprising." Her smile grew as she imagined everyone’s faces when they finally found out, especially Eli, Jay, and Jace.

Leo watched her quietly, and the corner of his lips lifted.

"Besides," he murmured, "they’ve been keeping secrets from us too. I am just returning the favour after long."

Bella blinked. Then she laughed softly. She knew what he was talking about. Jay and Jace’s relationship, and many more things they both hid from them.

She playfully pinched his waist again.

Leo immediately caught her hand, looking at her with helpless amusement.

"You’re getting very mischievous today." His voice was warm. "Looks like the baby is very very..."
