His innocent wife is a dangerous hacker. Chapter 921 My baby?
Previously on His innocent wife is a dangerous hacker....
Leo had never imagined this day would actually come.
After so many years of disappointment, after watching Bella lose hope again and again, he had eventually taught himself not to expect anything. He had made peace with the possibility that perhaps they would never have a biological child of their own. And honestly, he had reached a point where he didn’t mind anymore.
They had Eli. They had their family.
That was enough.
Or at least, that was what Leo had told himself.
But now...
The doctor had just confirmed that Bella was pregnant.
With baby. HIS baby.
Leo stood there completely still, staring at Bella as though he had suddenly forgotten how the human body worked. His arms hung at his sides. His mouth was slightly open. His gray eyes were fixed on her stomach like it had just grown a second head.
His heart was beating so hard that he could practically feel it against his ribs.
He blinked.
His expression remained perfectly serious.
Inside his head, however, absolute chaos was taking place.
He knew how. Obviously, he knew how. He was not an idiot. He had done the thing. He had done the thing many times. He had done the thing with great enthusiasm and on multiple occasions.
But somehow knowing the biological explanation and actually realizing that there was now a tiny human growing inside his wife were two completely different things.
He looked at Bella’s stomach.
Then at her face.
Then back at her stomach.
His heart thudded harder.
He swallowed.
For years, he had watched Bella suffer through disappointment after disappointment. He had learned not to let himself imagine tiny hands, tiny feet, a little voice, a tiny version of them calling him Dad.
He had buried those thoughts so deeply that he had almost forgotten they were there.
And now the impossible had apparently decided to happen anyway.
His wife was pregnant with his child.
Leo slowly looked down at his own hands.
Somehow, those hands had contributed to creating an entirely new human being.
He stared at them for a moment.
A strange warmth spread through his chest.
Then another thought struck him.
His heartbeat became even more ridiculous.
Bella noticed him staring stupidly.
"Leo?" Bella asked. Her voice was curious.
He looked at her immediately.
"Hmm?"
"Why are you looking at me like that?" Bella asked. Her eyebrow rose.
He glanced down at her stomach again.
Bella followed his gaze.
A small smile appeared on her face.
"You’re thinking about the baby?" Bella asked. Her voice was soft.
Leo was silent for a moment.
Then, with complete seriousness, he murmured, "There’s actually a baby inside you."
Bella laughed softly. "Yes."
He stared at her. "How did that even happen?"
Bella’s eyes widened at his absurd question.
She stared at him for two seconds before bursting into laughter.
"Leo!" Bella exclaimed. Her voice was full of amusement.
"What?" Leo asked. His expression was confused.
"You know how!" Bella said, laughing harder.
"I know," Leo said. His voice was defensive.
He looked genuinely bewildered.
"I just didn’t think it would actually work."
Bella covered her face, laughing.
Leo looked at her, then at her stomach again, and the smallest smile finally appeared on his face.
He carefully placed his palm over her stomach, even though there was nothing to feel yet. His hand was large against her belly and he held it there like he was afraid to press too hard.
His expression softened completely.
"There’s really a little person in there," Leo said. The smile didn’t leave his face.
Bella’s laughter faded into a warm, gentle smile. "Yes."
Leo’s thumb moved gently. Back and forth. Back and forth. A slow, absentminded stroke.
He looked down for another moment.
Then he whispered, almost as though speaking to the tiny life that couldn’t possibly hear him yet, "Hello, little one."
His voice softened even further.
"Your father is still trying to understand how you got here."
Bella immediately started laughing again.
Leo looked offended. "What?"
"Nothing," Bella said. Her voice was still shaking with laughter.
"You are laughing at me," Leo said. His voice was flat.
"I am," Bella admitted.
He sighed but his smile remained. Then he did something that made Bella’s heart completely melt.
He slowly lowered himself and leaned forward, pressing a gentle kiss against her tummy, right over where the baby was.
"Hello," Leo whispered again.
His voice was so soft and gentle.
Bella’s eyes filled with tears.
Leo looked up at her. His gray eyes were soft and wet.
"I love you," Leo said.
Bella smiled through her tears. "I love you too."
He stood up and kissed her forehead. Then her nose. Then her lips.
When he pulled back, he pressed his forehead against hers.
"We’re having a baby," Leo whispered same thing again.
Bella nodded. "We’re having a baby."
Leo didn’t reply.
He simply kept his hand over her stomach, his heart still beating far too quickly, quietly trying to comprehend the fact that the future he had stopped expecting was suddenly growing right beneath his hand.
The doctor and the technician exchanged a small smile as they watched the couple.

On the way home, Bella sat beside Leo in the car and stared at him in complete disbelief.
She still couldn’t understand what had happened to her husband.
Apparently he had spent hours listening to the doctor explain pregnancy care as though he were preparing for a exam.
He had asked about her meals. Her sleep. What she should avoid. What she should eat more of. How much rest she needed. What symptoms were normal and which ones required immediate attention.
He had even asked the doctor for book recommendations.
And, because apparently waiting until they got home was too much work for him, he had stopped at a bookstore on the way out and bought several books about pregnancy and newborn care.
