Regression - Second Chance At Life Chapter 357: The First Move
Previously on Regression - Second Chance At Life...
Ellie snaps out of her dazed state and looks at Adam standing by the door.
"Adam, come in," She says, getting up from her chair and flattening her dress.
"What are you doing in here all alone?" Adam asks, stepping into the room and closing the door of the office behind him.
"Nothing, just catching some alone time," Ellie says, giving him a gentle smile. "Come join me," She says, picking up the wine bottle, showing it to Adam.
"Sure," Adam says as he walks up to her.
Ellie takes out a glass, pours one for Adam, and passes it to him before sitting down on the edge of her desk.
Adam closes the distance and stands before her, staring into her eyes while putting on a pleasant smile on his face. He wanted to make sure that Ellie feels comfortable even with him standing right in front of her, blocking her view of the rest of the room.
And before she starts to feel suffocated by his large silhouette, he brings his glass forward and clinks it against hers. "Cheers," He says with a soft smile before taking a sip.
Ellie copies him, taking a sip from her glass before looking up at him. Seeing his face from where she is, Ellie couldn’t help but admire how handsome Adam looks.
His strong jawline, his sharp facial features, and his flawless skin. ’With such a handsome face, no wonder he got so popular with the ladies,’ Ellie thinks as she recalls how any woman who was exposed to Adam couldn’t help but find themselves drawn to him.
Whether it was his coworkers or the ladies’ customers.
As she admires his looks, the scent of his perfume drifts into her nose. That sweet yet mature blend makes her want to put her nose against his neck and take a strong whiff.
The thought makes her blush, so she looks away to take another sip.
Adam, the always observant one, notices this and smirks. Of course, he is not stupid enough to call her out on it. Girls like Ellie are like gazelles; you startle them, and they run.
He needs to make her walk up to him rather than him chase her.
"So..." Adam speaks, getting her attention again. As their eyes meet, Ellie blushes a little, and the wine’s not helping her case.
"What?" She asks.
"What are you doing here, drinking all alone instead of being out there with the guests?" Adam asks.
"I..." Ellie struggles to say the words that are stuck in her throat.
"Ellie, we are partners now. I think you can trust me enough to tell me what’s bothering you," Adam says.
"It’s nothing, I am not just a fan of crowded places. It was too loud out there, so I needed some peace and quiet and something to calm myself down, hence the wine," she says, raising the glass and taking another sip.
Adam stares at her for a second and realizes that she’s not lying.
"If you hate crowds, why even hold this party?" Adam asks.
"Silly, this is not for me, it’s for you," Ellie says. "I know, it’s supposed to be for the new direction that this restaurant is going to take, but it wouldn’t have been possible if not for you. So I wanted to do something for you," She says, looking into his eyes.
As she stares into those amber eyes that look golden, her heart couldn’t help but flutter; she realizes that she could stare into them for hours and not get tired.
Then she sees him smile, a gentle one. The smile makes her smile on reflex; she can’t help it.
"You know, I am not a fan of crowded places either. If we had sat down and talked about it, we would have avoided all of this," Adam says, to which Ellie shakes her head.
"No, this was necessary. I wanted our partnership to start in the grandest way possible. I want this to succeed. I want us to succeed, and I think a grand start is a great way to motivate everyone who works for us," Ellie says.
"You worry too much. I know for a fact we will succeed," Adam says.
Ellie stares at him, his eyes, his lips, his relaxed smile. She wonders why Adam is so confident in their success.
"Why?" She asks.
"Why what?" Adam asks in return.
"Why are you so confident that we are going to be a success?" She asks.
"Well, because I have seen the future," Adam says with a smirk.
Ellie chuckles, hearing his answer. "Come on, stop joking around, tell me, why are you so confident?" Ellie asks.
Adam stares into her eyes, letting the silence linger for a second or two, trying to make her a little nervous, which seems to be working.
"Well, it’s really simple," Adam says. "Since the day I started working here, all I have seen you do is work your ass off. You’re the first through the door in the morning and the last to leave at night. You do things you don’t have to.
So you tell me, how can this not succeed?
I don’t expect this to succeed on the first try, or any time soon, but what I know for certain is that hard work always pays off, and you, Ellie, are one of, if not the hardest working, I have ever seen.
So, this is where my confidence comes from. I know this will succeed because of you." Adam says, his tone getting gentle and positive at the end.
As he finishes his sentence, he places his hand on her soft, exposed thigh and gives it an affirming squeeze.
Ellie feels butterflies in her stomach, her heart is beating heavily against her chest, and a soothing warmth is creeping up against her core.
Hearing his words, staring into his striking eyes that are filled with confidence for hers, looking at his reassuring, gentle smile, and those soft lips, Ellie could only think of one thing.
Her eyes then drifted down to her thighs, seeing Adam’s hand on top of them, giving her an affirming squeeze, maybe a little too high for it to be appropriate, but Ellie didn’t care.
What she cared about right now was how Adam was making her feel, and she could no longer hold them back.
Looking up at Adam once again, meeting his gaze, and then looking at his lips, she stopped thinking and moved.
Reaching out for the back of his neck with her hand, she pulled him in to press her lips against his.
A kiss that’s been brewing for a while now.
Ellie might be the one who initiated it, but the brewer is Adam through and through.
He has been strumming the strings of Ellie’s heart for a while now, showering her with words of affirmation, raising her confidence, giving her reassurance that she couldn’t get from anywhere else, and then providing her with enough funds for her to envision her dreams coming true.
Add to that his looks and charming personality, and it wasn’t long before her feelings for him bloomed.
This is the moment Adam had been waiting for all alone. Ellie, being someone who stood by her morals, would have backfired if he had made the first move. So he had to be patient and continue building trust and let the affection for him grow.
One would ask, how could a woman with morals go against them? It’s simple: people give other people too much credit. Morals and values will always get overshadowed when the desire grows too strong, because at the end of the day, human beings are just a little more intelligent animal than the rest.
History has been witness to it; many had strong morals, but only a few managed to stand by them.
Ellie’s not one of them. She didn’t have the resolve or the circumstance to stand by her morals.
She was in a fading relationship, her partner was not supportive, she wasn’t getting anything from him, but on the other side, there was Adam, who gave her everything she needed and more.
When faced with such circumstances, morals are the last thing one cares about.
So as the kiss took place, Ellie’s shoulders relaxed, while Adam made his move.
Now that Ellie has taken the first step, it’s time for him to close the distance and leave an unforgettable mark on her.
He kissed her back, cupping her face with his hand. He pulled her face closer, his lips parted, and pressed against her lower lip, pressing and pulling on it.
He placed the wine glass in his other hand to the side to free it so that he could grab her knee and spread her legs a little, to which he felt no resistance.
He then placed his hand on her lower back, pulling her body into his, pressing his crotch against hers, making her feel his body’s warmth.
Now with no place for air between their bodies, Adam cupped her face with both his hands and deepened the kiss.
Their lips parted, switching positions, and with her switch, the gap got bigger, the kiss got more intense. Adam slipped in the tongue, licking hers.
Their tongues quickly became entangled, licking, pressing, and twirling around each other.
The kiss got passionate, deeper, more intense.
The wet sounds of their lips sucking, their tongues twirling, and the saliva swirling between their mouths filled Ellie’s office.
Ellie moaned through the kiss while inhaling and exhaling deeply.
Her eyes shook beneath her fluttering eyelids, and when she opened them slightly to look at Adam, she noticed him opening his eyes to look into hers as well.
The intensity in his eyes, the vulnerability in hers. She closed her eyes again and decided to take in what’s happening right now.
The passion and desire she is feeling right now is something she has never felt before in her life, and she doesn’t want to ruin this moment because she knows this can only exist in this very moment.
