Gravity Mage with Level-Up System Chapter 2173: Part 2: Richard’s Attempts
Previously on Gravity Mage with Level-Up System...
Forbidden Island
Richard was locked inside the system space. It had been some time since he had used the magic spell, and he had completely let down his guard.
"Gravity Spikes!"
I appeared inside the system space and executed the instant-cast magic right away.
A gray surge of energy was released from my right hand. In the blink of an eye, it struck Richard.
Boom!
Richard only felt a sense of crisis at the very last moment, but it was too late. The magic spell had been cast too close to him.
Boom!
A powerful gravitational force struck his body. It was an eight-fold stack of the spell’s attack. The next moment, Richard was hit hard and thrown from the spot.
His body arced through mid-air before crashing to the ground. His entire body was battered. His clothes were torn apart, and the surface of his skin was covered in injuries.
Richard was dumbfounded. He sat on the ground, clueless. He looked around and saw no one, but blood was dripping from his hands.
His skin was torn apart. For a second, he was at a loss for words.
A few moments later,
A realization dawned on him. He had been attacked by someone, yet there was no one around. He was utterly shocked.
"Who is it?" Richard asked, his voice laced with rage. He had completely lost his temper.
Meanwhile,
I was inside the control room. Seeing the Forbidden Wizard’s outburst, my mouth curved into an arc.
I didn’t have the confidence to tackle an Elder-level Wizard, but I could handle a Forbidden Wizard. Compared to the others, he was the most important captive. He used puppet magic as well, which made him likely to be a core member of the Covenant.
After severely injuring him, I would enlist the help of Lady Caitlin. She would interrogate him to gather more intel.
As time passed, Richard let his guard down once again. Just then, he was hit by a similar attack, worsening his already injured flesh.
Pfff!
Blood splattered across the ground. This time, the eight-fold stack of the gravity spell ruptured his blood vessels.
Because of this, his entire body was covered in blood. More blood flowed from his wounds, making him look miserable.
However, he possessed the robust physique of a Forbidden Wizard, meaning his bones were much stronger and sturdier; they had yet to suffer any real damage.
Even so, Richard was furious. He couldn’t see his assailant, yet he was continuously bleeding. This time, he tried to remain vigilant.
He realized he was only attacked whenever his guard slipped, leading him to believe some bizarre monster inhabited the space.
He was beginning to understand the terror of the Black Mists Forbidden Land. He had no idea how the higher-ups had managed to occupy the area, assuming countless lives must have been lost before they successfully claimed it.
Meanwhile,
In the underground office, the seniors grew increasingly worried about Chief Richard’s investigation. It had been several hours since they last heard from him.
His last report had come from the nearest unguarded outpost before he headed toward the coastal post. Since then, no word had arrived from the shore.
They feared something terrible might have happened to him. The five seniors exchanged glances and debated among themselves, realizing they had to make a decision.
They decided to wait a little longer before reporting the matter to the Elder. After all, Richard might have merely run into a minor complication and was currently resolving it.
If they waited, Chief Richard might still return on his own. Disturbing an Elder-level powerhouse over a trivial matter without good reason carried a significant risk of incurring his wrath.
In the end, they chose to wait.
Time passed.
Boom!
Inside the system space, Richard was struck repeatedly, one hit after another. His injuries worsened, and his blood loss grew critical.
A pool of blood had formed around him. His cowboy hat was gone, and his shirt and jeans were shredded to pieces, exposing bone in several places.
A cold glint flashed in his eyes. He still had no idea who the assailant was. Every attempt to pinpoint the attacker ended in failure; the strikes consistently landed in his blind spots.
He was a Forbidden Wizard, yet he had been reduced to such a bloody state. If this continued, he would die of blood loss rather than the inherent power of the spell itself.
After taking multiple hits, he realized the attacker was using a Supreme-tier spell. Had it been cast by a Magic Lord, his injuries would have been far worse, he would already be on the verge of death.
Moreover, had the attacker been another Forbidden Wizard, he would have died long ago. The enemy clearly understood these limitations; if that person or monster were physically present, Richard could have easily obliterated them with his own magic.
"Gravity Blast!"
Just as he was briefly lost in thought, another spell struck him from behind, yet another eight-fold stacked blow.
The blast hurled him away once more. Although the attack merely carried Supreme-tier power, the mana behind it was immense after being stacked.
It struck with overwhelming kinetic force. Richard was thrown through the air again before crashing violently onto the ground. The impact was brutal, aggravating his existing wounds even further.
Pfff!
A torrent of blood gushed from his injuries. True fear began to take hold, he was genuinely terrified of dying, especially since he still couldn’t locate his enemy.
A searing agony radiated throughout his body. His internal organs were damaged, bleeding internally, and immense pressure was bearing down on his mana core.
If a crack were to form on his mana core, he would be permanently crippled, the worst outcome he could imagine.
Worse still, if the core ruptured, the resulting detonation would kill him instantly. It was the most horrific death conceivable, and he desperately wanted to live.
As these thoughts raced through his mind, the severe blood loss threatened to drag him into unconsciousness.
Though he had been using healing items to suppress the damage, they were clearly no longer effective.
