Two guard posts on Forbidden Island were found abandoned, prompting an investigation by a reconnaissance unit led by a Forbidden Wizard. The unit also disappeared, raising alarm within the Covenant. Their superior, Forbidden Wizard Richard, decided to investigate the posts himself, dismissing the elders' concerns about a greater threat.

Forbidden Island

I was looking at the control mirror. The system reminded me that someone was approaching the brick building.

Swoosh!

A middle-aged man dressed in jeans walked into the room. He was another Forbidden Wizard. I didn’t know whether he was another group leader.

A flicker of interest appeared in my eyes. I was ready to imprison him as well. Looking at him wandering around the room, I raised my eyebrows.

Just then, he called for someone, and the next second, a four-legged monster entered the room.

Richard gave a command. The four-legged monster puppet entered the room and began to look around. It went to the practice room and found nothing there.

Swoosh!

The four-legged monster puppet returned to its master’s side.

Inside the control room, my interest deepened further. I hadn’t expected a monster to appear. But when I paid closer attention, I realized that it was not real.

I immediately used the system to probe it. The next second, the system’s results echoed in my mind.

My heart stirred. I hadn’t expected to see something similar to the Zero Puppet, but it looked much more lifelike.

I know that Covenant Wizards mostly use puppet magic. So he is not one of those from the prison island; he is a core member.

My eyes turned cold. If I interrogated him, I would get more information. I waited for the right opportunity.

Time passed.

When he was about to leave the room, I appeared outside and pulled him into the system space. Then I went outside and brought the four-legged puppet into the system space as well.

The two of them were isolated by the system.

Forbidden Wizard Richard was stunned by the new surroundings. He remembered trying to leave the room moments ago. Now, he was in an unfamiliar place.

He remembered his puppet and called out to it, but the four-legged monster puppet didn’t appear. Richard raised his eyebrows.

He now believed he had entered some high-level space crack, especially since he hadn’t sensed it beforehand. He had stepped into the crack unconsciously.

He didn’t know what type of ruin this was, but he was trapped here for now. Richard sensed trouble and decided to find the edge of the ruin.

The Forbidden Island was a dangerous place. He knew that an Elder-level powerhouse had warned him not to wander around unknown areas.

That was why they used the captured wizards for all the labor.

Richard looked around. He could not see the end of the place; all he could see was an endless blue landscape. He had never seen such a landscape before.

He raised his head and looked at the sky. There was no such thing as a sky, he only saw blue space. His gaze then fell to the floor, and he tapped his foot on the ground.

Thud!

The ground was solid, but he knew it was not a natural earth surface. He suspected he was trapped inside some kind of box, though even thinking about it felt absurd to him.

Boom!

He then decided to try another method and began to cast a spell. A black magic circle appeared in midair.

From it, the skeleton of a huge monster emerged. It was another four-legged creature.

When it landed on the solid blue ground, its height reached up to three meters. If anyone from the outside saw this scene, they would think an actual monster had risen from the dead.

In truth, this skeleton monster was merely a magic construct. Richard had used his puppet magic to make the creature lifelike, and he was the one controlling it.

He had a reason for casting this spell. He had no opponent here, but that didn’t mean he was out of options. Richard decided to self-destruct the magic construct.

Boom!

The skeleton monster was enveloped in black mana. In the blink of an eye, the energy wrapped around the three-meter-tall skeleton like a sphere.

Boom!

The next second, the skeleton monster exploded. The deafening blast sent shockwaves spreading across the entire blue space.

Richard had been waiting for this moment. He observed the shockwave carefully, wanting to see whether it would hit a boundary.

Swoosh!

The blast wave continued outward, but there was no sign of an edge. Seeing that, Richard raised his eyebrows, truly bewildered.

It had been a genuine spell attack from a Forbidden Wizard, yet the blue landscape remained completely unchanged.

There was no dent in the sky, nor was there a crater on the ground where the explosion occurred. Normally, an impact site would leave a massive hole, yet the solid blue floor remained pristine.

Not only that, but he had used his mental power to scan more than a mile in every direction. The shock force continued spreading until its momentum simply dissipated, never colliding with any obstacle along the way.

Richard grew anxious. He didn’t know what kind of bizarre ruin he was trapped in.

His forbidden spell hadn’t worked. He doubted even an Elder-level powerhouse would be able to do anything here.

Meanwhile, the four-legged magic construct was running around aimlessly. As time passed, the mana inside it depleted. It would shut down once its energy ran dry.

Inside the control room, I couldn’t believe the Covenant Wizard had tried to blow the place up. Fortunately, the system was resilient enough to handle Forbidden Wizards with ease.

Next, it was time to extract information, but I needed to incapacitate him first. I waited for the right moment.

Shortly afterward, Richard gave up. He relaxed, realizing he was completely losing his composure. He figured that others must have fallen into the trap just like him.

He wondered what their condition was, assuming they were likely worse off than him. At the very least, he had come in prepared for danger.

The seniors back at the office had to be on alert by now. He was certain they would report to his master once he had been missing for too long.

Richard felt a twinge of regret. He should have listened to those seniors. This unfamiliar ruin posed a serious threat to the organization.

They needed to resolve the issue quickly. Otherwise, forget the Mage Union or external enemies, they would be wiped out by this unnatural catastrophe.
