Gravity Mage with Level-Up System Chapter 2124: Part 1: Auction Day

Market City
At nighttime, the whole city was awake. Activity was especially high in the market area. She had come across exotic monster cub traders, street performers, information brokers, and various stall owners.
Information brokers from both inside and outside were working here. They wanted to get information on wealthy wizards.
She was even stalked by a couple of wizards, but they were all deterred by her presence. These information brokers were experienced wizards; they had survived many life-or-death situations.
They immediately understood that the old woman was a powerful wizard, so they stopped bothering her.
Thus, Caitlin had a calm time while exploring the market. She spent most of her time at the book stalls. Her magic was related to books.
She could tell whether a book was original or not. She found many fake books being sold in the market. Not only that, but there were also many fake spell models and treasure maps.
Still, there were wizards queuing in front of the stalls. Many of them were even buying them. Caitlin looked at them before shaking her head.
She then went to other book stalls to check. She wanted to know about the Black Mists Forbidden Land.
She wondered whether she would get any information here. It didn’t take long for her to see results; she found some old, worn travel notes.
She found out these were originals, written by travelers ages ago. She immediately paid the stall owner and bought the travel notes.
She had never had any sea journey experience in her life. It was going to be her first journey, so she knew how much danger was involved.
There were powerful monsters living in the seas; there could even be 11th- and 12th-order monsters. She hoped to get some information from these travel notes.
If there was information on the Black Mists Secret Land, it was going to be a bonus for her. She didn’t read the notes immediately; instead, she went to other stalls to check.
Meanwhile,
Supreme Wizard Hank bought something useful for enhancing his magic spells. He couldn’t believe he had come across something related to his magic.
Fortunately, he had a mana pouch given to him by Master Vincent, so he was able to buy it at a lower price.
Similarly, the other group members were finding what they wanted.
The following day,
After getting ready, I appeared outside. I wore the same mask again with a different uniform. I didn’t know whether I could get VIP tickets.
I came to the main street and found a cab. I hopped inside and asked the driver to take me to the auction house.
10 minutes later,
The cab reached the destination: the auction house building located at the center of the city. I exited the cab and paid the fare to the driver.
My gaze next fell on the crowd gathered outside. At least 200 people were here. The event was not free, so they must have bought their tickets earlier.
Next, I made my way through the crowd toward the entrance. The guards had not opened the doors yet.
My appearance and actions drew people’s attention.
"Who is he?"
"He is likely going to be stopped."
"It could be a powerful wizard."
"He might be a guest. It’s best not to offend him."
The wizards behind started murmuring one after another because some of them felt the pressure coming from me.
There were others who tried to check my strength, but they weren’t able to probe anything. Instead, they felt a sense of crisis.
Everyone grew curious. They wanted to know whether I would be stopped or not.
I stood before the main door. The guards there were hesitating; they too felt the powerful pressure coming from the person in front of them.
"I would like to see your manager," I said to them.
Hearing that, they were taken aback. They looked at each other, not knowing what to say. Before they could speak, I walked past them and entered the place.
I used the system to locate the people here. Then I saw activity on the right side of the hall, so I started walking toward that area.
The two guards were shocked. One of them started following me from behind, but they didn’t dare block my path.
They were afraid I might attack and kill them; they had seen many such situations before.
The corridor was a long, stretching path. At the end, I came across a huge meeting room with two people inside. Upon sensing my presence, they came outside to see.
Both of them were old men. One of them was the Manager, a Supreme Wizard. The other person was a Magic Lord, the guardian of the auction house.
The Magic Lord looked at me and raised his eyebrows in surprise. He didn’t expect to see such a young, powerful wizard.
When he tried to see through the young man’s strength, his senses were blocked. It shocked him even more.
"Who are you?" the Manager asked.
Hearing that, I smiled and said, "Well, I’m traveling. I decided to take a short break here, but I found out there’s a week-long festival happening."
"Specifically, I heard about the famous two-day auction event. I missed yesterday’s event, so I have come today. I hope you guys can make some arrangements," I added.
Hearing that, the Magic Lord and the old man looked at each other. Both of them could tell that this young man was not afraid.
At such a young age, the young man’s strength was formidable; his background might be powerful as well.
Still, the Magic Lord didn’t take it too seriously. They had their own backing, though his mind didn’t connect the young man to the Magic City.
He thought the young man could be from one of the big families in the Outside Land Territory.
So, they dared not offend him for the time being. The Magic Lord nodded his head at the Manager.
The Manager smiled and said, "I can give you a ticket, but it will cost 500 mid-grade mana stones."
Hearing that, my eyes flashed with a glint. I felt the price was extremely high, these guys had to be testing me. But 500 mid-grade mana stones was a small amount for me.
"Okay," I replied.
After saying that, I took out 500 mid-grade mana stones from my storage bracelet. The old manager broke into a wide smile.
He accepted the mid-grade mana stones before taking out a VIP ticket and handing it to me.
The Magic Lord’s eyes flashed with a glint as he saw the 500 mid-grade mana stones. Even for a Magic Lord, this amount of money was huge.
[Ding! Intense Greed detected from the Magic Lord.]
I heard the system’s voice in my mind. Hearing that, my heart stirred, but I showed no expression on my face.
I quickly masked my thoughts and turned toward the Manager.
"Thanks," I said.
Then I started heading back. I could feel their piercing gazes on me.
I arrived back at the entrance and showed the ticket to one of the guards. The guard saw the VIP ticket and immediately began leading me to the VIP room on the second floor.
After reaching the second floor, the guard took me to the fifth room. The first five rooms were booked; there seemed to be people inside.
"System, check whether anyone else is in the room," I asked the system.
I didn’t want to breach their privacy by expending my mental power.
[Ding! The presence of Supreme Wizards is detected in each room with their followers.]
I heard the system’s voice in my mind, giving me confirmation. The guard opened the door for me.
Seeing that, I nodded at him before stepping inside the room.
The guard closed the door before leaving. I walked up to the sofa facing the glass and sat down. I could see the wide stage and the seating areas on both the ground floor and the first floor.
As I swept my gaze across, I found that the place was quite big. Apart from that one Magic Lord, there didn’t seem to be any threat.
5 minutes later,
The guests standing outside were allowed to enter after an inspection. One after another, they made their way into the hall. The seats on the ground floor began to fill up.
Those who had first-floor tickets went to the first floor; these were more expensive than the ground-floor tickets. There were a few people with followers heading to the second floor.
They had only just arrived. The strength of these newcomers was at the Supreme Wizard rank. No Magic Lords or Forbidden Wizards had appeared so far.
I continued observing the people, including the guests in the other VIP rooms. Their magic was quite interesting. I wondered whether anyone here knew about the Magic City.
The current area seemed to be located close to the border. Beyond it lay vast wilderness, which could take a few more days to cross.
I shook my head before turning my attention back to the scene outside.
