Endless Evolution: Last Star Chapter 1980: The Island’s Energy and Amber Rays

Bam! Bam! Bam!
Breydar’s fists rained down on the bearded man’s. For some time now, they had been exchanging blows nonstop.
The young men behind him tried to help the bearded man, but Breydar’s energy control was advanced enough to block all their attacks.
When blue and green projectiles flew toward him, he used his gray mist to block them. Moreover, he had a way to make life even harder for them.
Whooosh!
When another green projectile flew toward Breydar, mist arms appeared behind him. Instead of simply blocking the projectile, they caught it and threw it right back at the young man.
"Damn it!" the other young man exclaimed as he stepped in front of his mate, creating a protective barrier from his mist energy.
Breydar paid no attention to this. He was completely focused on the bearded man in front of him, while his energy was sufficient to hold off the two Barons who were occasionally attacking him from a distance.
BAM!
Their fists collided, sending a shockwave rippling across the island.
Breydar and the bearded man were knocked aside, staring at each other. However, their expressions were different.
For some reason, it was Breydar who remained calm, while the bearded man was on guard.
"Something’s not right," the bearded man thought, furrowing his thick eyebrows. "We’ve been fighting for some time now, but his energy reserves haven’t changed at all. What’s more, I should be physically stronger than him, but he’s making up for the difference in our strength with energy."
His reasoning was correct. Considering how much energy Breydar was expending on every action, his energy reserves should have been depleting rapidly, but that wasn’t the case.
Meanwhile, the bearded man had already expended quite a lot of energy. First, he had to block numerous shots from the crystal pillars, and now he was fighting against Breydar.
"Wait..." The bearded man’s eyes darted to the side.
He wasn’t looking at the energy crystals, but at the ground. Faint, barely noticeable energy flows emanating from a crack in the ground were reflected in his eyes.
These flows completely ignored the bearded man and the two young men, since only Breydar could absorb them.
"Tsk." The bearded man clicked his tongue. "Now it’s all clear to me. You’ve subjugated this island and are drawing energy directly from it. I must admit, I didn’t expect that."
Breydar spread his hands wide in a calm but clearly haughty manner.
"Well, I had more than enough time for that. If I was able to take control of the crystal pillars, then this task was also possible. Though it was much more difficult."
SLASH!
At that very moment, a single, piercing sound rang out, causing everyone to look up.
The blue cleave split the dark sky in two, it was one of the consequences of the battle currently raging above them.
"It looks like things aren’t going very well for Raoha and Luaxa, or for you, for that matter."
Tap.
Breydar bent down as his palm touched the ground.
"Well, I think we should get serious, too. Let’s see which is stronger, the three of you, or me alone with all the energy of this island?"
Tremble.
With a tremor, the gray dome became more active as it began to grow, covering an ever-larger area until its edges crashed into the ground.
By Breydar’s will alone, a multitude of misty arms emerged from the dome, like creatures from nightmares, reaching out toward the two young men.
Basically, Breydar had set a trap for them using his mist, and it wouldn’t be easy for them to destroy the dome since he could constantly regenerate it.
Breydar didn’t need to kill them right here and now. He could win a battle of attrition. It was an unpleasant tactic for both sides, but it was his best bet.
"Grh." The bearded man grumbled irritably. "I shouldn’t have expected anything else from you. You think you can wear the three of us down? Let’s see if you can pull it off!"
With a flame in his eyes, the bearded man lunged forward while his energy released a menacing blue mist, creating two veils around him.
Breydar, in turn, narrowed his amber eyes, closely watching his opponent’s movements.
His plan could work, but to make it work, he had to avoid making any mistakes. After all, he remembered that his main opponent was not the Veiled Souls Clan, but Adam Vinter.
...
Slash!
Adam swung his blue needle as a stream of blood gushed out.
Raoha’s face contorted in pain as trickles of blood flowed from a long gash on her chest.
"Raoha!" Luaxa cried out in growing panic.
Tremble.
The white crystals trembled as a barrage of projectiles rained down on Adam.
He didn’t dodge as his dark wings sprang into action, blocking the projectiles.
However, that wasn’t quite the case, and Raoha soon realized it.
’Wait...’
Raoha blinked as she watched Luaxa’s projectiles dissipate upon contact with Adam’s wings instead of exploding.
’He... He’s absorbing them!’
"Stop! Luaxa, stop firing!"
Unfortunately for them, she realized this too late.
Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.
Adam’s wings trembled as they spread wide.
His blue eyes remained calm and confident of victory, in contrast to Raoha’s frightened gaze.
The amber swirls amid the white fabric of his wings shone brightly, full of energy.
It had been quite some time since Adam had used his wings in their original form. But after he had created all Three Grand Stars and reached the Grand Barrier, he now had enough energy to use this ability without the risk of exhaustion.
Tremble.
Raoha’s eyes widened as the swirls spun rapidly.
"Luaxa! Barrier! NOW!"
In no time, they stood side by side, channeling all their energy into the barrier.
At that very moment, a multitude of intense rays of amber energy rained down on them as Adam’s wings released all the energy they held, and Lone Blaze had more than enough to turn a single Viscount into a handful of ashes.
Adam’s gaze grew more intense.
’And that’s not even all I’m capable of now. Sooner or later, I’ll break through the Grand Barrier. I’m sure of it.’
