Endless Evolution: Last Star Chapter 1979: Raoha, Luaxa and the News

Whoooooosh.
Gusts of wind swept over Island A215, ruffling the dark tips of Adam’s hair.
Not long ago, he had fought a Viscount and won. Now he was facing two opponents at once, one of whom was a Viscount, and the other a Baron.
However, Adam wasn’t worried.
He knew that Raoha couldn’t be significantly stronger than Midgar had been. He could already sense it from her aura. At worst, she possessed the same level of power.
Luaxa, for her part, was clearly weaker than Raoha, since she was a Baron.
"You - you’re Adam Vinter, aren’t you?" Raoha narrowed her blue eyes.
Adam didn’t ignore her and nodded.
"Yes."
"Why?"
Raoha stared at him.
"Why are you helping Breydar? Something tells me that today was the first time you’ve ever met him, just like us."
Adam shrugged.
"It’s my only way to kill all of you. Unfortunately, I’m not yet strong enough to kill six Lords at once, three of whom are Viscounts. So, when brute force isn’t enough, I have to resort to schemes. But I think you know that just as well as I do."
"W-What?" Luaxa blinked in disbelief. "That’s Adam Vinter... I’ve heard of him, but..."
A smug smirk spread across her face.
"How is a K4-Phantom going to defeat two Lords? Hahahahahaha!"
Apparently, Luaxa didn’t know what had happened at the Grand Abyss.
However, rumors had already reached Raoha. She knew that while they were at the Gray Sea, it was essential to gather all possible information, whether from allies or clan members.
To find out about the battle between Midgar and Adam, a monster didn’t need to watch their fight or even be at the Gray Sea.
As soon as one of the spectators told an informant about it, the news quickly spread to other lands.
The same rules applied here as everywhere else: the more important the news, the faster it spread.
"Stop it, Luaxa." Raoha’s stern voice rang out.
"Ah?" Luaxa was confused. "What does that mean?"
Raoha pointed at Adam.
"The K4-Phantom standing in front of you recently killed a Viscount, right here, at the Gray Sea. It was Midgar. I’m sure you’ve heard of him."
The Veiled Souls Clan was part of the Befallen Crown. So, Raoha, Luaxa, and Midgar - all three of them were members of the Befallen Crown, even though they belonged to different groups.
Blink.
Luaxa blinked. She wasn’t sure she’d heard correctly, but Raoha’s calm gaze told her that was exactly the case.
"Wait... Even if that’s true, there are two of us! He can’t defeat us!"
Strangely enough, Raoha didn’t stop her this time. She agreed with Luaxa.
"Sure."
Tremble.
Raoha’s aura burst forth, a powerful amber flame shooting from her body to become a pillar of light against the dark sky.
"I told you this not so that you would be afraid of him, but so that you would be careful. If you aren’t careful, you’ll die, but if you see him as just another Viscount, we’ll win without much effort."
Luaxa’s expression grew serious as her white aura emanated from her. Now, they were both ready for battle.
"I’ll attack first. You’ll help me," Raoha said as she leaned forward, preparing to lunge.
Luaxa nodded as her energy transformed into several crystals shrouded in a mist. Their shape was obvious, but the mist concealed most of them.
However, before Raoha could launch her first attack, Adam also decided to spring into action.
Like them, he was confident of victory, but he realized that together, the two of them might be even more dangerous than Midgar.
’Now I’m stronger than I was when I fought Midgar, but... She’s right. There are two of them, and I’m alone. If I want to defeat them and still have the strength to deal with Breydar afterward, I need to get serious right away.’
With these thoughts, Adam took a deep breath.
Ripple. Ripple. Ripple.
Light ripples ran through the air, like waves on the eve of a storm.
Then, Adam’s blue aura burst forth, effortlessly reaching the same level as Raoha’s and even slightly surpassing it. Sure, the aura wasn’t the only indicator of strength, but for Raoha and Luaxa, this was bad news. It showed just how much energy Adam had and how many battles he’d fought.
Adam reached out his hand as a multitude of blue threads streamed toward his wrist. A needle with a broad blade appeared in his grasp.
But Adam wasn’t going to stop there. He knew that against a Viscount and a Baron, this wasn’t enough.
Crack.
With a loud crack, two dark wings unfolded on his back.
The wings curved as their dark edges sharpened and pointed forward, three on each side. Like six blades, they were aimed at Raoha and Luaxa, ready to fight alongside him.
"Oh, I made it look so easy..." Adam muttered to himself as he thought of Lone Blaze. ’It seems that now that they’ve also gotten used to the new energy, their abilities have grown as well. Or... is it because I’ve finally seen the Grand Barrier?’
Adam pushed those thoughts aside. Right now, he had to focus on other things.
Gulp.
Luaxa gulped, her body trembling.
’W-What? How can the K4-Phantom have such a powerful aura?’
Luaxa didn’t want to admit it, but even now she realized she didn’t stand a chance against Adam.
If they had clashed in an open field and fought to the death, Adam would have won solely because of how powerful his aura was and how much energy he had. It was quite possible that he wouldn’t even need his abilities to do so.
Adam, in his turn, looked down at Island A215.
The new gray dome covered the central part of it, trembling from time to time.
’Breydar has already started his battle. Good, I have to finish before he does,’ Adam thought, remembering who his true target and enemy was. After all, the Veiled Souls Clan was only a secondary objective of his mission.
He stared at Raoha.
"Should we begin?"
