Adam confirms he witnessed the Grand Barrier but lacks the knowledge to destroy it. He discusses the different advancement methods for monsters and humans with Blafor and Kalyso. Adam then inquires about Ergander and Blafor's past conflict, learning it was a personal matter and that Adam is too weak to interfere. After accepting their reassurances and the reality of his strength, Adam prepares to depart. Ergander offers to guide him to a safe passage back to the Gray Sea, explaining how they are maintained by powerful groups.

Ergander was right. As soon as they reached a certain area, they immediately found a suitable passage that led them straight to the summit.

Ergander had a rough idea of where Prasyx’s island was, so he chose a passage that was fairly close to it.

"Alright, this is the passage we need," Ergander said, looking at Adam. "I hope we’ll meet again in the future."

Adam nodded deeply as a smile spread across his face.

"Sure. When I set out for the Grand Abyss, I imagined what I’d see in the Dark Field. I’m glad that here, in the Light Field, everything turned out exactly this way and that there are monsters like you here."

In response, Ergander shrugged.

"Apart from Blafor and a few other old, grumpy monsters I see once every few decades, I don’t have anyone to talk to. You’re still young, so you don’t fully understand how important it is to have a new conversation partner from time to time."

"I see. Then one day I’ll definitely come back here. Anyway, I don’t know of any other places at the Light Field where I’d be offered tea and cookies."

"Hahaha!" Ergander laughed heartily. "Yeah, you’re right about that."

He paused for a moment before nodding again and looking at Adam.

"Alright, in that case, until we meet again. I know you still have unfinished business at the Gray Sea, but I won’t be able to go with you. I have to stay here at the Grand Abyss. I’m sure Prasyx will take care of you."

"Ha! After what he asked me to do? Of course!

They exchanged one last glance as Adam flew upward, entering a clear and safe passage.

Ergander watched his receding silhouette for a while before nodding and turning back.

He hadn’t expected to encounter a K4-Phantom today, no, a future Second-Rank Phantom, and get the chance to get to know him better.

Also, like many other Lords, today he witnessed a K4-Phantom defeat a Viscount. It was a rare sight, news of which would quickly spread throughout the world.

Many Lords will feel a sense of regret and even envy that they missed the chance to see Adam Vinter in battle. Others will be shocked that he actually managed to do it, and some will even be frightened by the power Adam will wield in the future.

The Befallen Crown and many other small factions that share their views, scattered across the world, will realize that Adam has now become a real threat.

But... they will no longer have such an opportunity to attack and kill him. With Midgar’s death, they lost that chance, perhaps the best one they’d had since Adam first arrived at the Dark Shore.

The problem wasn’t that Adam had grown stronger.

The Befallen Crown had sufficient resources to send several Ascended Lords to hunt Adam. Against them, Adam didn’t stand a chance.

Now, they didn’t know where Adam would be or what he planned to do next.

No one knew what a Phantom had to do to destroy the Grand Barrier. Even the Phantom himself remained in disbelief until the very last moment.

Perhaps Adam would decide to travel to some lands for his own purposes, or perhaps he would prefer to stay at the Citadel, where the Befallen Crown had no way of reaching him.

In fact, the Light Field was the Befallen Crown’s best chance to kill him, but Midgar, along with the other three Lords, failed in that task.

Perhaps if Adam were to go to the Dark Shore, they would have another chance, but it was unknown whether he would venture into that dangerous territory again before becoming significantly stronger.

Well, all the Befallen Crown could do now was wait for a new opportunity, wait until no one could protect Adam.

After all, no matter how strong the Befallen Crown might be, they couldn’t act with impunity in other lands, since there were also powerful forces there that would prevent them from killing Adam Vinter.

SPLASH!

With a splash of gray water, Adam broke the surface as he looked around.

He needed to figure out roughly where he was, so he flew as high as possible until the first islands appeared on the horizon.

Prasyx was on Island A21. It was far from Island A100+, but the shore wasn’t close either.

"Alright, I’ll be able to figure it out from here."

Adam’s gaze fell on a random, uninhabited island. Most of the islands in the Gray Sea were like that.

The first time, he’d been unlucky enough to be attacked by crabs and jellyfish. Usually, the islands remained uninhabited until someone decided to occupy them temporarily.

Tap!

Adam landed, kicking up a cloud of dust as he looked around.

The island’s surface was covered with many old trees, still alive, but their cracked bark showed they’d been there for hundreds of years.

Among the trees stood several stone pillars left over from the ruins.

"Alright, the number has to be somewhere around here." Adam nodded, walking slowly past the trees.

He examined each tree carefully, remembering how, on the first island he’d visited, the island’s number had been carved into a tree.

But he didn’t see anything, at least not at first.

"Agh...?" Adam blinked as his vision shifted.

Now, he was looking at several streams of energy moving beside him. Like slow-moving streams, they flowed in one direction, toward the central pillar.

’This wasn’t here before. Is it because of this island, or have I changed?’ Adam thought as he followed the energy.

Step. Step. Step.

After a few steps, he found himself at the main pillar. It was just as damaged as all the others, old and covered in dust, but in the middle of it was a flat, hanging plate.

Painted on the plate in black paint were the letters A33.

Slowly, a smile spread across Adam’s face as he nodded.

"I see. So this is the 33rd island. Alright, I’m pretty close. Ergander didn’t lie. I’ll see Prasyx soon."

He looked back.

"Huh, am I just lucky, or did he know I’d find the Abyss Pearl? He’s acting like a fool, but... just how strong is this fooling-around serpent, exactly?"
