The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse Chapter 1696: Blood Hounds Ambush (2)
Previously on The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse...
The elemental spirits, led by the four Primordial Flame Spirits, were doing most of the heavy lifting. The Blood Hounds outnumbered Kaden’s team by the hundreds, so they weren’t holding back.
All of them had assumed their beast forms and were unleashing the most dreadful attacks on their foes.
However, amid the chaos of the battle, the tremors and echoes escaping into the vastness had drawn the attention of both the Blood Hounds and the ants.
Safe to say, the Blood Hounds’ reinforcements would arrive first. However, the ants were also coming, and Kaden, knowing the danger they brought with them, didn’t mind that his elemental spirits were going chaotic.
He just wants the dreadful savages dead.
But chaos and death are two different things.
He wanted the battle to end faster so he could prepare to fight a Pseudo-Primordial. However, he also didn’t want to unleash his trump cards yet.
He had already seen that while the Bleeding Kingdom was full of savages, the Ant Desert had sentient beasts. They aren’t stupid, so they could spy on him and find a way to counter his moves.
He had already seen their intelligence on a battlefield they had passed three days ago.
From the horror of that battle, he saw that the ants used weapons... weapons that humans use. This meant that, unlike the Blood Fiend Zombies, who fought with their claws, teeth, and bodies, the ants were more intelligent, even in the art of weapon-making.
Such opponents are the most dangerous.
During the Primordial Era, when the Void Race attacked, most of their warriors were savage beasts who lacked refinement. As a result, they were defeated by mankind’s intelligence.
One would say intelligence alone is not enough, which is true.
Intelligence is a support for brawn. But it is one of the greatest weapons in the human anatomy. Humans are genetically cruel and evil. Their intelligence makes them that way.
So against even the most savage beasts, provided they have time, they can adapt and find a way to win.
This was why Kaden didn’t unleash any of his trump cards, knowing full well the ants were watching. Of course, he was also relaxed because his teammates weren’t in any danger yet.
His triplet wives were as flawless as ever.
They were perhaps the most flawless combatants on the battlefield since their elemental attacks were both beautiful and lethal.
Nova wielded her spear with lightning dancing all over her body as she killed one Blood Hound after another. Her speed was rather swift today.
Nova isn’t really someone to be flashy despite possessing perhaps one of the most beautiful and dreadful lightning types in the universe.
On the Lightning Elemental Chart, her lightning ranked fifth. The Red Dominion Dreadful Lightning had once claimed the lives of many gods during the Divine Era, so it had earned its place.
Today, it was killing Gods and Supremes, and despite Nova doing her best to remain inconspicuous, whenever a red glow flashed across the battlefield, the Blood Hounds couldn’t help but chase after her.
As for Aria, since she had taken the path of a mage, she had already surrounded herself with a couple of spell circles. It was even more chilling that while she had eight spell circles active, with more still forming, she had yet to reveal the true power of her class.
But she was getting there. Right now, her side of the battlefield was encased in blue ice, and the danger within it continued to build.
Stella, however, had already earned her place as one of the greatest archers in the harem. Her arrows went straight for the heart, so every attack from her was as deadly as it could be.
"This brings back old memories," Nova suddenly said, stabbing her spear into the eye of a God-level Blood Hound. The beast collapsed after she shot a bolt of lightning from the tip of the spear deep into its body.
"I know, right? During the Divine Era, we were a bit powerless against the gods, but even so, we won... Today, however..." Stella fired an arrow and teleported to the side, evading a claw from a Supreme-level Blood Hound.
"...we are no longer powerless fairies. We are now powerful humanoid elemental with so much elemental essence to burn."
A smile formed on her face.
Turning to the right, she saw Aria looking back at her with icy blue eyes.
"I want to do it."
Stella and Nova looked at each other and smiled.
"Go ahead."
Aria nodded. Then she waved her staff around a few times, manifesting two more spell circles, each containing ten layers of spells. The moment the ten spell circles glowed to life, a smirk formed on her face...
"Ice Age."
At once, the temperature plummeted, plunging everything and everyone into a state of chilling cold. Then, from within the freezing air, a colossal door rose.
Kaden, who had already been planning to unleash a trump card using the darkness element, paused and turned toward the door.
When he saw the familiar door rising, his eyes widened.
"No way."
But his shock was warranted because before any of the Blood Hounds could make a move to destroy the door, Aria completed her spell...
"Ice Queen Summon."
The Blood Hounds charged forward, only a few meters away, when the door swung open, and a vast, chilling wave of ice qi exploded outward. The Blood Hounds were frozen in their tracks.
Then, as the figure Aria had summoned took a step forward, cracks formed across the frozen Blood Hounds. The second step widened the cracks, and the third shattered everything, ending the lives of close to a dozen Blood Hounds as though they were nothing more than bugs.
By the time she had fully stepped out and the door closed behind her, all of the Blood Hounds around her were dead.
"Welcome to the Elemental Garden, Big Sister," Aria said, smiling at Anna.
"It is good to be here, even if it is just temporary," Anna said before turning to Kaden, who was still in shock after seeing Anna appear in the Elemental Garden.
"How?" he asked.
"Nothing too fancy. I merely gave the Ice Queen Summon skill to Aria, allowing her to summon me whenever she wanted, provided she had enough elemental essence. Since I am the Ice Queen, by summoning one, I am the one who is brought over.
"So I am here now, and as you can already tell, I only have fifteen minutes before I have to return."
Kaden nodded and sighed.
"In that case, why don’t you clear the battlefield for us, Ice Queen?"
Anna nodded and summoned her staff. Then she looked toward the east, where close to forty Blood Hounds were rushing toward Pickle Berry and Jane.
Kaden knew Anna would get the job done, so instead of using the darkness element, he used lightning instead.
"Lightning Source Diagram... rise."
BUZZZZ
The Lightning Source Diagram appeared behind him, and at once, the sky turned dark. Kaden wasted no time and unleashed the move he had been waiting to use...
"Forbidden Storm Domain."
The surroundings instantly changed, and before the Blood Hounds around him knew what had happened, they found themselves trapped within a storm of lightning and devastation.
"Ah, I miss this domain," Kaden muttered. It was one of the few domains he had created during his eighth incarnation as the Paragon of Elements.
Today, he had unleashed it once again...
"Storm Howler."
HOWWWWWLLLLLL
The world quaked as lightning and devastation descended on the chilling battlefield.
