Endless Debt Chapter 1541 - 76: Transformation
Previously on Endless Debt...
When Bologue rambled on about all the experiences in the Land of Secrets, Aimou still had that dazed look. Bologue thought Aimou was fascinated by his stories and secretly planned, once everything was settled, to find time to take Aimou to the Land of Secrets for a visit.
Aside from the various issues with the All Secrets Order, the Land of Secrets was indeed a great tourist destination. Those futuristic architectural styles always give people the illusion of traveling through time.
No, Bologue misunderstood. Aimou completely did not care about those things related to the Land of Secrets, such as the supremacy of the Condenser, the Ultimate Condenser, or the Truth Faction.
Aimou’s attention only slightly focused when hearing about the disorder of time axes, then dispersed again, crashing around in her mind like a brewing storm.
My god, Bologue actually willingly gave gifts, and he even prepared two plans for it.
Aimou couldn’t tell if Bologue had truly woken up to new ideas or if it was his expert professionalism that made him analyze whether she would like the gift or not.
But no matter the truth, Bologue’s actions were truly shocking.
After Bologue finished speaking, he sat quietly in place, as if he had finished a work report, waiting for the leader’s instructions. After a while, Aimou rubbed her wristband, feeling the cold metallic texture, and asked.
"Bologue, were you inspired by someone?"
From the scholar’s perspective, Aimou questioned Bologue. Besides awakening and professionalism, there was a third possibility: Bologue was guided by a knowledgeable person.
"Inspired? What aspect are you referring to?"
Bologue indeed received a lot of inspiration, such as Fabien’s crazy words. Unfortunately, in the following days, Fabien was busy with power construction within the All Secrets Order, and Bologue had no chance to talk with him.
The feeling of brainstorming was quite interesting: both exciting and terrifying, like the lifeless Undead dancing a tango with the Death God.
"In this aspect, wow, when did you become so knowledgeable? Did you learn this by watching some romance films?"
Aimou shook the wristband in her hand and walked over from behind the office desk, circling around Bologue as if appraising a rare species.
Often, in Aimou’s eyes, Bologue seemed more like a machine than she did, and this machine constantly justified its steel nature with rhetoric about value, efficiency, and rationality.
At one point, Aimou even felt that the reason Bologue enjoyed watching movies so much was to learn about human emotions and thereby imitate humans more realistically.
"Movies? No, I usually don’t watch those romance films," Bologue answered seriously. "I prefer those niche films, especially ones with some black humor."
"Then... you just naturally thought of it?" Aimou incredulously questioned.
"More or less," Bologue nodded, not at all grasping Aimou’s reaction, "I couldn’t just return empty-handed, could I?"
Aimou remained silent for a while and then softly said, "Does this count as a change?"
"It should be, just like I usually wouldn’t take the initiative to watch romance films, I typically wouldn’t prepare such gifts for others," Bologue liked to evaluate himself objectively, "It appears this is a twist... or more accurately a positive optimization of my personal will due to the warming of our relationship."
Aimou laughed with a mix of anger, "Your answers... if only they came with a deliberately mechanical voice."
"Do you mean like this?"
Bologue pinched his throat, producing a clattering sound with a blank expression. Aimou admired Bologue’s talent for maintaining a straight face while being funny.
"Alright, alright, please behave normally."
Aimou placed her hands on Bologue’s shoulders and gave a firm squeeze, as a formality.
"How have you been lately?"
Bologue tilted his head, showing concern for Aimou’s recent situation.
"Same as always, overtime, overtime, and more overtime," Aimou sighed helplessly, "I’m even planning to set up a folding bed in the office."
Bologue thought for a moment, "Like Lebius?"
"A bit simpler than his."
Remembering this, Aimou couldn’t help but envy Lebius. Since transitioning to a desk job and semi-retirement, Lebius’s work had become much more relaxed. He no longer needed to work overtime and could turn around and go back to his bedroom to sleep soundly whenever he was tired.
Aimou knew that Lebius wouldn’t be so irresponsible, but she just envied him.
"Anyway, let’s not talk about that right now."
Aimou wrapped the wide robe around herself, tidying her appearance in the mirror, then waved at Bologue through the mirror, "Get up, we have to go."
"Where to?"
"Reciprocation," Aimou said, opening the office door and winking at Bologue, "Taking you to get your gift."
Aimou initially intended to present this item as a surprise for Bologue, but he returned too suddenly, leaving her no time to prepare, and she felt it was better to give it directly now.
In the familiar warehouse, Aimou opened a sealed iron box and handed a simple, almost undecorated dagger to Bologue.
"What’s this?"
Bologue was initially confused about what this was, but when he infused Ether into the dagger, feeling the familiar solid-liquid transformation and watched the dagger melt in his hand, turning into countless wandering snakes crawling along his fingertips, Bologue immediately recognized this old partner.
