When the countdown struck zero, blue lights burst from their battle suits simultaneously. Linked mode enabled the Host to tap into the linked target's battle suit capabilities.
"Linked mode activated."
Once the connection formed, Du Beiye commanded, "Activate flight mode. Activate invisible mode. Activate defense protocol."
"Flight mode activated. Invisible mode activated. Defense protocol activated."
With Krayan's voice ringing in her head, she grabbed Mo Junjie's hand. They dropped to the bottom before he could respond.
Defense mode combined with flight mode kept them hovering 10 centimeters over the ground. Two seconds passed before flight mode disengaged, letting them touch down softly.
Mo Junjie's eyes sparkled with shock and fascination at the sight. He'd believed the battle suit was merely an upgraded nanosuit. Its array of functions caught him completely off guard.
Du Beiye lacked time to clarify for him and instructed, "Don't make a sound. Follow me."
Mo Junjie nodded, signaling his understanding with a gesture.
They crept aboard the spaceship undetected, thanks to invisibility mode. Du Beiye scanned the mini map, discovering fewer than fifty Matkuna soldiers still inside.
She bided her time until another squad of Matkuna soldiers departed the ship. Only two remained in the control room when she snapped her wrist. Instantly, her bracelets transformed into a pair of guns.
Trigger pulled, two laser blasts struck the Matkuna soldiers' vulnerabilities, dropping them dead instantly.
"Junjie, what are you doing? Help me toss these out," she urged while hauling the bug from the seat.
He snapped back to focus at her words and swiftly handled the bugs. Dragging them aside to the corner, he unleashed his poison mist, melting them into a puddle of dark liquid.
Ignoring his actions, Du Beiye examined the control panels. Moments later, she sighed and remarked, "I never thought that one day I would be flying this kind of old spaceship."
Mo Junjie eyed the control panels—multiple hovering screens—and commented, "These look so advanced to me."
"I learned about this type during my history class. I don't know if I can still remember it," Du Beiye answered offhandedly as she inspected the main controls.
Soon after, she hit a sequence of buttons. The whole spaceship jolted, sealing the entrance. Mo Junjie dashed to the seat behind her and fastened his seatbelt.
Amused by his reaction, she chuckled, "If you are so scared, you shouldn't have followed me. We are going now!"
Her words barely ended when the engines roared to life, propelling the ship straight up. The vessel banked sharply before he could adjust, rocketing skyward faster than any jet.
Experienced in piloting spaceships, Du Beiye handled it effortlessly. As they hurtled toward the enormous sky-dominating ship, she hit a button, revealing two orb-shaped controls from the sleek table.
Her hands gripped the spheres, steering the aim and unleashing the arsenal.
Zing! Zing! Zing!
From outside, laser fire rang out distinctly. Impacts scorched the big ship but inflicted minimal harm—just superficial marks, no real effect.
Du Beiye tsked in frustration and piloted evasively. Unable to shatter the massive vessel, she targeted the bugs instead.
Weapons trained on the Matkuna soldiers underneath, her lasers wiped out swarm after swarm.
Each laser strike erupted like a detonated explosive.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Phantom Team and Richard's squad stared in astonishment. Mistaking it for foe fire at first, they relaxed upon realizing it struck only Matkuna soldiers.
Du Beiye's aerial support eased their burden greatly. Fifteen minutes dragged on until over ten fighter craft launched from the colossal ship.
These small ships pursued Du Beiye fiercely. A battle-hardened pilot, her dogfighting prowess matched her ground combat expertise.
She evaded blasts effortlessly, executed hairpin turns to outflank foes, and acquired rear locks. Weapons primed, a barrage of lasers hammered the pursuers.
Zing! Zing! Zing!
BOOM!
"Yeah! One down!" she whooped in thrill.
Her blood pumped with excitement, but Mo Junjie's guts churned like a blended mess. Nausea overwhelmed him, urging him to retch.
Pale-faced, he fought down the bile. Eyes shut tight, fists balled, he silently begged for the chaos to cease.
Once Du Beiye shot down two spaceships, she whipped around to check on him, stunned to discover Mo Junjie teetering on the brink of collapse.
"Krayan, check on him. Don't let him die because of me."
At those words, Krayan stayed quiet for several seconds, then switched to aerial combat mode to aid his recovery. A serum got injected into Mo Junjie's body, allowing him to adjust.
Minutes passed before he finally regained some strength and managed to glance at the screen.
Differing from human-built planes, no glass windows let them view the outside world. Multiple blue screens hovered ahead instead, displaying the surroundings from all sorts of angles.
His nausea faded away, letting him truly admire Du Beiye's mastery in piloting the spaceship and obliterating enemies.
As they tore through the skies unchecked, Jiang Ziyi at last landed a blow on the First Elder.
BOOM!
A massive, profound crater scarred the earth. In its depths at the very center, the First Elder sprawled motionless.
