Du Beiye's team secured supplies from a minimart, interacting cautiously with wary mutants before storing everything in her system warehouse. Meanwhile, Jiao Lizhi collected a dense deposit of dark Sthanam crystals from an underground cave, briefly losing consciousness but recovering after rest and care from Jin Xuyan in her space. The couple teleported to the gas station minimart, regrouping with the Phantom Team under the rising red moon and planning to escort the mutants back to Lin'an City Base the next day. As they settled in, mutant Wen Hanyu raised his hand to ask Jin Xuyan a question.

Wen Hanyu paused briefly in thought, then spoke up, "Comrade, as far as I know, the airports and docks stand destroyed, leaving no escape from Turtle Island. So how do you plan to get my girlfriend and me back to Huaxia?"

"No need to concern yourself with that; we have our methods. Just rest well and prepare for departure tomorrow," Jin Xuyan assured him.

With those words spoken, he faced the team members and inquired, "Have you all eaten?"

Jian Huan gave a nod and responded, "Captain, we've already had dinner."

As the team had finished eating, Jiao Lizhi simply retrieved two dinner portions for herself and her fiancé. Once they ate, the pair assumed night watch duties, allowing the members to rest.

The next morning, well before sunrise, the team roused themselves for morning exercises, followed by a quick cold rinse and breakfast.

Wen Hanyu and his girlfriend stirred awake to the enticing aroma of wonton soup.

Spotting them up, Jiao Lizhi gestured to the simmering pot and instructed, "Wash your face and hands with that water first. Breakfast's almost done."

"Oh, alright," Wen Hanyu answered distractedly.

Ten minutes passed before he and Shang Xixi emerged from the bathroom. He handed the pot back to Jiao Lizhi and offered, "Comrade, can I lend a hand with anything?"

Jin Xuyan passed him two bowls of wonton soup, replying, "No need. We'll head out after breakfast, and I'll get you back."

Unsure of his meaning, Wen Hanyu simply nodded. During breakfast, a mutant piped up, "Hey, don't you know eating that stuff turns you into a monster?"

"You really think these supplies cause mutations?" Wen Hanyu asked, astonished.

"Isn't that the case?" the mutant countered.

Wen Hanyu shook his head, clarifying, "Mutations come from a parasite. It spreads briefly through air or bodily fluids."

"It typically resides in water sources. Direct contact infects only if it enters via wounds or orifices—skin contact with water is safe."

"Where'd you learn all this?" another mutant wondered.

"My boyfriend and I stayed at Red Cliff Base. That's where we got the info," Shang Xixi explained.

The mention of the base made the mutants' eyes gleam with interest.

Catching that spark, Wen Hanyu warned, "Better steer clear. The base got wiped out and isn't held by Silver Guards anymore."

"Silver Guards? Who might they be?" Jian Huan questioned eagerly.

"They serve the facility, clad in silver-white uniforms with silver nano weapons—that's their name's origin," Shang Xixi described while pulling out her phone.

She displayed a photo, noting, "This is my sole shot. Snapped it while scouting the city with my squad."

Jin Xuyan and Phantom Team crowded around the image. Spotting the weapon, Mo Junjie squinted and declared, "That's the newest version of my nano weapon."

"You're from the facility?!" Shang Xixi gasped, raising her hand as lightning crackled across it.

In response, Du Beiye snapped her wrist. Instantly, her bracelet morphed into a dagger. Another flick sent it hurtling toward her.

The dagger sped forth, slicing Shang Xixi's palm before embedding in the wall behind.

Crack!

Pain extinguished the lightning from her hand. Before she could respond, Du Beiye loomed behind, dagger pressed to her artery, voice icy: "Move if you crave death."

Mo Junjie watched, lips curling in a smirk as killing intent faded from his eyes, his stare warming.

Stunned by the abrupt clash, Wen Hanyu leaped up, pleading, "Comrade, don't harm Xixi. It's all a mix-up."

Du Beiye dug the blade deeper, drawing blood, and pressed on, "Your girlfriend skipped questions and lunged at my comrade. Think I won't slay you both, even as Wen Hanli's brother?"

The sharp sting at her throat humbled Shang Xixi, shattering her post-apocalypse arrogance. Her lightning ability had propelled her ahead of peers.

This edge crowned her among Red Cliff Base's top ability users, fueled by endless praise and sycophancy that swelled her pride ever higher.

Young and foolish, she believed her current power left few daring to challenge her. It was only now that she comprehended how simplistic and childish her ideas had truly been.

She cast a glance toward Jin Xuyan, yearning for him to speak up in her defense. However, spotting him engrossed in shelling boiled eggs for Jiao Lizhi, she gave up all hopes of aid from them.

"S-sister, I'm sorry. I…"

Before her words could end, Du Beiye thrust the dagger in further and demanded, "Who is your sister?"

"I…"

"You apologized to the wrong person," she tacked on.

At last comprehending, Shang Xixi moistened her lips and eyed Mo Junjie. "C-comrade, I'm sorry."

Having no defense for her prior conduct, she dared not utter another word.

Mo Junjie, feeling cheerful, flicked his hand dismissively. "I'll let you off this time."

Du Beiye arched her brows upon hearing those words. She turned to him and caught his affirming nod. With him having declared it, she raised no protest.

She released Shang Xixi and cautioned, "Watch your attitude."

"Y-yes. I will keep it in mind," Shang Xixi affirmed with a quivering nod.
