The leadership at Red Cliff Base struggles to finalize a strategy against the massive Matkuna camp, with members debating risky infiltration despite the overwhelming odds. Meanwhile, across the ocean, the Thirteen Colonies face near-total destruction from a relentless swarm of zombie creatures. Desperate for survival, they finally intercept a broadcast from the distant Lin’an City Base, igniting a fragile hope for rescue.

Moments later, they succeeded in connecting their signal to the satellite and reaching out to the opposite side.

Catrina Bell faced the young man and instructed, "Charon, you handle the conversation with them."

Charon gave a nod and declared, "Lin’an City Base, Lin’an City Base, this is Wen Hanyu speaking. I’m from the Red Cliff Base, located at the 2nd colony of the Thirteen Colonies. If you can hear me, please respond."

He broadcast the message repeatedly a few times. Just as they began to fear no reply would come, a response finally crackled through.

"Comrade, right now, zombie cockroaches and zombie rats have the entire Red Cliff Base encircled. Our supplies and ammunition are nearly depleted. Please come to our aid," Wen Hanyu pleaded.

Over on the receiving end, Fu Shenhan froze in shock upon hearing the dire report.

He swiftly pulled up the world map to pinpoint the Thirteen Colonies. The 2nd colony sat smack in the island’s heart, making it the largest one.

Reinforcements and supplies could be dispatched to assist them. However, the vast distance meant it would require a minimum of 6 to 8 days to arrive amid the harsh weather conditions.

He pondered briefly and then replied,

Upon hearing those words, despair flickered in Wen Hanyu’s gaze. "Comrade, I’m afraid we don’t have that much time left."

"The zombie cockroaches and zombie rats have breached the base. We’re clinging to our final defensive line. Casualties are mounting rapidly. We can hold out for maybe one more day at best."

Right after his words, deafening blasts erupted from beyond the walls.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

PRANK!

The explosions rocked the ground violently, shattering windows from the sheer force.

Back at Lin’an City Base, Fu Shenhan and his team reeled in horror at the radio’s explosion noises, followed by endless static.

"Chief, their base seems to have collapsed. Do we inform the Vice Commander?" a team member inquired.

Fu Shenhan grabbed his satellite phone and messaged Wen Hanli. Whether that comrade linked to the Vice Commander or it was mere chance, caution demanded reporting it.

Meanwhile, the blast had wrecked their radio, severing the signal. Moments passed before Wen Hanyu pried open his eyes, ears still buzzing. He shook his head repeatedly to clear his vision.

Regaining awareness, he spotted the ruined radio on the floor and scrambled to inspect it. The device lay in pieces, beyond any repair.

With their sole lifeline shattered, his complexion drained of color, and he slumped there blankly. He had believed homecoming was within reach, yet cruel fate intervened once more.

Gazing out the window, he witnessed a gigantic breach in the wall. Zombie cockroaches and zombie rats swarmed inside, ravaging all in their path. Ordinary folks stood no chance, nor did ability users.

Abruptly, someone seized his arm and hauled him upright. Snapping alert, he locked eyes with a pair of silver irises. "Why are you zoning out?! The base is lost—we must flee immediately!"

Denying him time to speak, the girl flung aside the damaged radio from his grasp and snatched nearby backpacks. She thrust one into his arms while slinging another over her shoulder.

Next, she clasped their hands together, gripping his firmly. She dragged him from the tower, dashing straight for the Command Center—the tallest structure in the base.

Three helicopters waited on the rooftop, meant for top brass evacuation during collapse. Their survival now hinged on boarding one and escaping.

They sprinted relentlessly, refusing to pause. Upon arriving at the Command Center, a chaotic mob blocked their way.

People shoved desperately to storm the building. In the frenzy, many suffered trampling injuries. Already, helicopters lifted off from the roof.

Spotting this, the girl veered toward the training grounds.

This zone served guards and mutants for drills. No choppers there, but armored vehicles, weapons, ammo, and explosives abounded.

Air escape impossible, land became their desperate option.

Racing to the training area, Wen Hanyu fixed his gaze on the girl’s dark locks and urged, "Xixi, leave me behind. Solo, you could reach the Commander and board a helicopter."

Shang Xixi didn’t glance back, snapping, "Quit the nonsense. We vowed to return home as one. I won’t ditch you."

Rebuked, Wen Hanyu fell silent and trailed her obediently. As zombie cockroaches and zombie rats neared the Command Center, they burst into the training area.

"Grab weapons, ammo, whatever supplies are around. And hunt for explosives and gasoline too," Shang Xixi ordered, heading for the armored vehicles.

This time, Wen Hanyu wasted no seconds, stashing it all into his space. As a space-type mutant, he had advanced to Level 3.
