Pei Yijun suspects that recent devastating attacks across various bases are not coincidental, prompting the Phantom Team to heighten their vigilance. Upon arriving at Green Lake Base to investigate a dangerous parasite, the team discovers that mutants in the health center are being consumed from within by Matkuna soldiers. As the horrific lifecycle of the parasite unfolds before them, the team moves to contain the threat within a spatial barrier while grappling with the gruesome reality of the infiltration.

Upon hearing what Jian Huan had to say, Mo Junjie didn’t even bother casting her a glance, responding with an icy detachment, "There is simply nothing to be done. These individuals are beyond saving now."

"The only mercy you could possibly offer them is a swift end. If you were to step inside at this moment, you would face a 99% risk of becoming a host to those parasites."

"Are you really suggesting we just stand by and watch them endure such agony?" Jian Huan retorted, her tone sharp with disbelief.

"Whether their demise comes slowly or rapidly, they are fated to die regardless. Since their destiny is already sealed, we might as well extract the maximum utility from their final moments."

"I am certain they would find comfort in knowing their sacrifice provides us a rare opportunity to study the Matkuna race, potentially preventing others from suffering the same cruel fate."

The team members were frozen in shock at Mo Junjie’s declaration. While they were well aware of his obsessive devotion to his work and his eccentric personality, they had never imagined he could be so inherently cold and heartless.

BOOM! BOOM!

CRASH! CRACK!

Explosions echoed through the air alongside the gruesome sounds of flesh being torn, bone snapping, and blood spraying across the walls. Amidst the carnage, Mo Junjie pulled a notebook from his spatial necklace and began documenting the scene with meticulous focus.

As skepticism rippled through the group, Jin Xuyan commanded, "Everyone, split up and investigate the perimeter. Locate the mutants and the commoners. Above all, maintain your distance—do not make direct contact—and regroup at the lobby once you are done."

"Beiye, you will remain here to assist Junjie," he added.

"Understood!" the team shouted in unison.

Jiao Lizhi joined the sweep of the building as well. Aside from Qin Luzi, she and her sister were the only ones who possessed the map. As she ascended to the third floor, Gaia’s voice began to resonate within her mind.

Suddenly, a soft cerulean light washed over her, and her battle suit engaged, snapping into place.

Unlike its standard configuration, the suit now resembled an advanced spacesuit. Yet, instead of the bulky frame and spherical helmet of traditional suits, this version was form-fitting and equipped with a sleek, transparent visor.

Glancing at her mini-map, Jiao Lizhi observed the floor teeming with countless tiny purple dots. They swarmed the area like a dense colony of ants.

Finding herself alone on the floor, she murmured, "Gaia, initiate the system barrier and ensure that not a single one of these parasites escapes this level."

An instant later, a shimmering, translucent wall encased the entire floor.

Jiao Lizhi quickly typed a message on her satellite phone to alert her fiancé to the situation on the third floor, then pushed open the door to the closest chamber.

Inside, she was greeted by the sight of Wen Chang, Xie Zhou, and several doctors sprawled across the floor, all unconscious. While they appeared to be merely sleeping, the map clearly indicated their bodies were infested with those wretched purple dots. Knowing they were infected, she was careful not to make physical contact.

"Gaia, is there any way to extract these parasites from their systems?"

The moment the question left her, she heard the voice of Jiang Ziyi echoing in her thoughts.

"Is there truly no method to remove the eggs without relocating them into my space?" Jiao Lizhi inquired.

While she possessed a desire to save them, the prospect of exposing her personal space was too great a risk. She had already jeopardized their safety by allowing her sister to mention their systems to Mo Junjie.

Following a brief pause, Jiang Ziyi responded.

Jiao Lizhi weighed the advantages against the potential consequences. Giving Jiang Ziyi full control would leave her vulnerable as the owner of the system; if his intentions shifted, he could easily override commands or weaponize her own system against her. However, bringing these people into her private space would likely reveal her biggest secret, endangering both her and her team.

Seeing her hesitation, Jiang Ziyi continued.

After a moment of silence, he added to his previous point.

Hearing this, Jiao Lizhi pressed, "What kind of method?"

"What should we do if they suffer from an energy deficiency?" Jiao Lizhi questioned.

Jiao Lizhi spent several long moments wrestling with the decision, yet she could not force herself to reach a final conclusion.
