While Jiao Lizhi found herself at a crossroads, her satellite phone began to chime. Catching sight of the caller ID, she promptly answered, "Brother Yan."

"Ah Zhi, let me in," Jin Xuyan pleaded, a trace of panic evident in his voice.

"Brother Yan, I’m safe. My defense system is active, and the parasite remains unable to reach me. However, I’ve discovered Xie Zhou, Wen Chang, and numerous doctors here; they have been infected and remain unconscious."

A heavy silence hung on the line for a moment before Jin Xuyan replied, "We will discover a solution. For now, you must extract yourself from that location immediately."

"Brother Yan, to be honest, there is a method to extract the eggs from them. If I escort them into my space or grant Jiang Ziyi full access to my system, he could utilize Gaia’s laboratory to surgically remove the infestation."

Before she could finish, Jin Xuyan interjected firmly, "No!"

He drew in a steadying breath to calm his nerves and softened his tone, "Ah Zhi, we will spare no effort to save them. But I cannot permit you to gamble with your life. You are the most precious person to me. Do not ever sacrifice yourself, do you understand?"

Jiao Lizhi let out a soft hum in acknowledgment, "Additionally, there is another option. By injecting the RV-078 solution, they have a 20% possibility of absorbing the eggs and surviving."

"However, if their constitutions are frail and devoid of energy, they will simply serve as fuel for the eggs, accelerating their maturation process."

Hearing this, Jin Xuyan directed, "Administer the injection. Even a 20% chance is far better than nothing at all."

After a moment of contemplation, Jiao Lizhi nodded. "Very well. I will do as you say, Brother Yan."

Once the call concluded, she announced, "I shall proceed with the solution."

Jiang Ziyi watched her closely. To bring him out, she entered her personal space, only to find him busy packing supplies into his spatial ring. Surprised, she asked, "Since when do you possess a spatial ring?"

"I have held onto this for quite some time," Jiang Ziyi responded while continuing to stow away an assortment of fruits and vegetables. Before departing, he toggled a device on his bracelet, and in a flash, his appearance shifted into that of an elderly man.

Jiao Lizhi stood frozen, stunned by his sudden transformation. Locking eyes with him, she instinctively straightened her posture, rendered a crisp salute, and addressed him, "Great Commander."

Jiang Ziyi shook his head with a wistful smile, remarking, "You only offer me such formal respect when I wear this guise." After giving her head a gentle pat, he added, "Come on, we are pressed for time. Let us move."

Feeling the lingering warmth from his weathered palm, Jiao Lizhi felt a sudden, sharp ache of sorrow.

It had been an eternity since she had seen him in this form. Only in this moment did she realize that his touch carried the same familiar comfort, regardless of the face he wore.

Suppressing her tears, she took hold of his hand and led him out. As they breached the exterior, Jiang Ziyi scoffed, "These bugs are thoroughly repugnant."

Jiao Lizhi had been anxious about his safety, but seeing that he was equipped with a protective suit identical to hers, she allowed herself a sigh of relief.

She diligently served as his assistant while Jiang Ziyi meticulously administered the RV-078 solution.

Meanwhile, the Phantom Team had gathered the mutants and survivors in the lobby. Unsure of their infection status, they requested that Feng Yun erect a spatial barrier to keep them isolated.

Having been informed of Jiao Lizhi’s situation, they were currently awaiting word from Wei Yunli.

By the time Wei Yunli arrived, the situation was already being managed under Jin Xuyan’s directives. She performed a quick assessment and sensed that something was amiss.

As she approached the structure, a man in his mid-thirties barred her path. "Vice Commander Wei, you cannot proceed any further."

Wei Yunli frowned, retorting, "The Commander is within those walls. I must evaluate his condition personally."

Ye Wuze stood resolute, blocking her way as he replied, "Vice Commander, we received updates from Captain Jin mere moments ago. The interior is secure. The barrier exists solely to contain the parasites. We have no choice but to wait."

"Chief Ye, my business is with Captain Jin. By what authority are you attempting to obstruct me?" Wei Yunli questioned coldly.

Hardly had the words left her lips when her satellite phone rang. Recognizing the caller, she answered immediately, "Captain Jin, what is the status inside?"

"Vice Commander Wei, we are preparing to escort a group of uninfected mutants and civilians out. They are traumatized and exhausted, but they are clear of parasites," Jin Xuyan explained.

"And the Commander?"

"The Commander has been infected. We have already administered serum to combat the parasite, but his survival rate is a mere 20%. In his absence, I require you to coordinate with Chief Ye and ensure his condition remains shielded from public knowledge."

Hearing this, Wei Yunli cast a glance at the rugged man standing nearby. She had always found him grating, yet now was not the time for personal grievances.

While she served as the base’s Vice Commander, Jin Xuyan held a rank equivalent to Xun Che, effectively making him her superior.

After a brief silence, she conceded, "Understood. Please keep me informed of any developments regarding the Commander."

"Understood."

As the line went dead, she looked at Ye Wuze and said, "We need to speak in private."

Without a word or a hint of emotion, Ye Wuze followed her to her vehicle and opened the door. Once they were inside, she stated, "A group of survivors will be evacuated shortly. The Phantom Team has verified their safety. I am going to organize accommodations for them."
