Jiang Ziyi executed Pei Gan by melting his heart with a heated dagger, then beheaded him to extract a seven-colored crystal core, integrating it into the main system Jiva. He forced the mutants to remove their tracking chips, resulting in only 176 survivors out of 500, before vanishing with a mocking laugh. Jiao Lizhi and Du Beiye experienced disorientation as their systems revealed Jiva's activation under Jiang Ziyi's control, while the zombie horde battle concluded after 15 grueling days, yielding numerous high-level crystal cores amid heavy losses. In a tense meeting, leaders negotiated the cores' distribution, with Lin’an City Base demanding 80% for the Phantom Team's pivotal role, sparking disputes over shares.

Jin Xuyan finished his pancakes and polished off a cup of soy milk before declaring, "In that case, my team is claiming 60%. Both of you can take 20% apiece."

Wen Hanli arched his brows at this but remained silent. Meanwhile, the Mo family members stared back at him without offering immediate agreement.

"The Phantom Team shall take 50%, my side will receive 30%, and the Lin’an City Base can take the remaining 20%," Mo Junlong countered.

Wen Hanli let out a dry chuckle. "Comrade Mo, my base dispatched 50,000 mutants as reinforcements, while your side contributed fewer than 2,000."

"As you previously admitted, your group had a high number of wounded mutants. This implies your forces are feeble, and the bulk of the hard labor fell upon my men and the Phantom Team. Furthermore, defending Sanchou Base serves your family’s interests exclusively."

"Even if we seized every single crystal core, you not only have to accept it, but you should also be thanking us. You understand perfectly well the catastrophic losses you’d face if this base were to crumble."

At those words, the expressions of the Mo family delegates turned icy.

"Vice Commander Wen, are you issuing a threat?" Mo Junlong demanded.

Spreading his arms wide, Wen Hanli replied with a grin, "Comrade Mo, you’re reading too much into things. I am merely stating the facts."

Jin Xuyan observed their bickering for a few moments before rising from his seat. "You can all continue this discussion at your leisure. I have other pressing matters to attend to and cannot remain here any longer."

After speaking, he took his fiancée’s hand and exited the room. Just before clicking the door shut, he added, "My team will take 60%."

While the Mo family and Wen Hanli locked horns in their meeting, the Phantom Team joined the sentries to clear the battlefield.

As for Jiao Lizhi, she finally located Jiang Ziyi. When she found him, he was casually chatting with a group of young mutants while sharing a meal.

Catching sight of her, he waved his hand and introduced her to the group. "That is my daughter. I must be heading back now. Farewell."

The others were flabbergasted by his statement. He appeared to be in his early twenties, and his daughter seemed roughly the same age as him. Consequently, they dismissed his claim as a joke.

Jiao Lizhi remained silent and guided him to a secluded alley. "Is your business concluded?" she inquired.

Jiang Ziyi nodded, returning her backpack. "It has been quite a while since I ventured out. I find myself wondering how the children are faring inside."

At that, Jiao Lizhi said nothing but took his hand. As her fingers enclosed his cold palm, she felt his body tense slightly. She glanced at him, noting his face remained expressionless, yet his fingers curled back, as if to return her grasp.

For some reason, childhood memories surfaced—the Great Commander loved holding her and her sister’s hands during evening strolls. Thanks to her System, those recollections remained as vivid as if they had happened yesterday.

Observing her strangeness, Jiang Ziyi asked, "Fengyan, is something wrong?"

"It’s nothing at all," Jiao Lizhi said, ushering him into her space.

Once they materialized inside, the children rushed toward them, surrounding Jiang Ziyi and inundating him with a barrage of questions.

Seeing he was occupied, Jiao Lizhi departed the space to join her team in cleaning up the battlefield.

Word of the zombie horde appearing in Sanchou City reached other settlements shortly after Wen Hanli’s arrival at the base.

While the tensions at both the Lin’an City Base and Sanchou Base were settling, the situation at the Green Lake Base looked far grimmer.

Following multiple incidents where groups of mutants lost control and attacked guards and civilians, the leadership implemented a curfew. Aside from active patrols, no one was permitted outdoors after 8 PM.

At 9 PM, Xie Zhou was still tied to his desk processing paperwork when his phone rang, giving him a start.

Checking the caller ID, he sighed and answered. "Captain Wen, what is the reason for this late call?"

Wen Chang’s voice sounded strained. "Commander Xie, I apologize for the late disturbance. However, I am afraid you need to come to the health center immediately. We have discovered something distressing."

Frowning, Xie Zhou replied, "I am on my way."

With the streets deserted due to the curfew, he reached the health center in under 20 minutes. Upon arrival, he found guards securing the entire perimeter.

Seeing the level of security, a sense of dread settled in his chest. He hurried inside the building.

Wen Chang and Wei Yunli were waiting, and upon seeing him, they offered a salute before escorting him to the quarantine ward.

"What is happening here?" Xie Zhou asked.

Wei Yunli handed over a folder, explaining, "We have identified the cause behind the unstable mutations among the residents. The full report is enclosed."

Xie Zhou scanned the document as he walked. He soon frowned and stated, "How could this be? Everything—the water and the food—originates from us. The warehouses and reservoirs are under 24-hour guard."

"Commander, I suspect this parasite did not originate from the food or water supply," Wen Chang interjected.

"What exactly do you mean?"

Just as Xie Zhou spoke, they reached the quarantine zone. More than 50 mutants lay in beds inside, bound by chains while medical staff and researchers monitored their vitals.

A middle-aged man stepped out of the room and shed his protective gown. After undergoing the mandatory disinfection steps, he finally approached them.

"Commander, Vice Commander, Captain Wen," he greeted with a brief nod.
