Lin Fei and Jian Huan alerted survivors to hidden ability-users, inciting the desperate crowd to break into houses and force the reluctant mutants to join the wall defense by beating those who resisted. The mutants, mostly level one, complied fearfully as Yin Yusheng killed zombies with precise airgun shots while his towering mutant Neem tree crushed and devoured hordes, clearing a chillingly clean swath outside the wall. Proceeding to the tallest building, Jian Huan crushed the door with her ability, and the duo confronted the arrogant Mo siblings, trapping them in a spatial barrier and hauling them to the frontline despite their protests.

Once freed from their confinement, the Mo siblings rose from their seats and surveyed the area around them. A short while later, Mo Junhao spoke, "I didn’t see the Fifth Brother. Second Brother, are you sure he is with them?"

Remaining in his seat, Mo Junzi released a deep sigh and responded, "Looks like he didn’t come."

Jin Xuyan gestured with his hand, summoning a towering firewall that rose far off and halted the zombies' advance. Only after confirming the zombies were kept at bay did he pivot to face them.

"Are you from the Mo family?" he inquired.

"You know about us?" Mo Linghui countered with a question.

Jin Xuyan gave her a brief glance before shifting his gaze to Mo Junzi. "If you don’t want that thing to get destroyed, you have to defend this base."

Upon hearing those words, Mo Junzi’s eyes flashed momentarily before steadying again. "I don’t understand what you are saying."

"You can pretend not to understand anything. But the moment this base falls, all of your family’s efforts will go down the drain."

At that realization, Mo Junzi understood that this individual was fully aware of their operations here. "How do you know?"

"There is nothing I can’t find out. If you decide to stay out of this fight, then my team has no obligation to defend this place."

Arching his brows, Mo Junzi questioned, "You don’t care about those people?"

"I have my own way to save those people, whether this base survives the attack or not. Now, it’s not me asking for your help, but you who need my help. To defend this base or let the zombies destroy everything, it’s up to you."

With those words spoken, Jin Xuyan retrieved his walkie-talkie and commanded, "Prepare for evacuation."

"Understood."

The team members sprang into action upon the order, as Feng Yun deployed several military helicopters, and the group organized the survivors for departure.

Their movements were swift and well-coordinated. Within under ten minutes, the survivors had formed lines and climbed aboard the helicopters.

Witnessing this, Mo Junzi grasped that the man meant business.

"Your time is running out," Jin Xuyan warned him.

Mo Junzi eyed the zombies, then the base. As the helicopters poised for takeoff, he clenched his teeth and declared, "Alright. We will defend the base."

Jin Xuyan nodded in acknowledgment. "Then, we will leave this to you. My team will take a rest."

As the Captain withdrew from the frontline, the other members trailed after him. The survivors, puzzled, were instructed to disembark from the helicopters.

Feng Yun reclaimed the helicopters into his space and handed out supplies of food and water to the survivors. Following that, the Phantom Team retreated to recuperate.

Lacking their defense on the walls, the zombies surged forward more rapidly. Assessing the escalating threat, Mo Junzi pulled out his satellite phone and dialed a number.

In fifteen minutes, a substantial force of mutants arrived to bolster the defense of the base.

Within a forsaken building, Zhang Yuan inquired, "Captain, how did you know that they would help us?"

"There is a laboratory underground. If they want to protect their experiments, they have to defend the base."

"Laboratory? Are they on the same side as the organization?" Yuan Ruiyue probed.

Jin Xuyan denied it with a shake of his head. "They are on their own."

"Captain, do you know them?" Zhou Huajian asked.

"They are from the Mo family. Although they are not included in the aristocratic family circle, their family has a long history and has delved into various fields. One of their family members is on our team."

The team members pondered his statement, recalling a particular individual.

"Brother Mo is their brother?" Xiao Qi burst out in astonishment.

"From what they said, I think Mo Junjie should be their Fifth Brother," Jian Huan commented.

Noting the contemplative looks on his team's faces, Jin Xuyan advised, "Right now, there is no need to think too much about this matter. Their family is not our enemy. Focus on recovering your energy and have a good rest. We only have six hours of rest."

"Understood."

Thanks to the Mo family's intervention, the Phantom Team could at last restore their strength. Although the conflict at Sanchou Base raged on, the showdown at Lin’an City Base was drawing to a close by the third day.

At midday, the Matkuna Commander met its demise. Distinct from typical bugs, this leader possessed blood with greater acidity, and every segment of its form served as prime material for gear and arms.

For that reason, rather than severing its head or shattering its core, Du Beiye allowed Feng Zhen to eliminate it via his blood manipulation powers.

As the blood assaulted the innards and obliterated the core internally, the Matkuna Commander expired, its eyes bulging in terror.

Realizing victory was theirs, Feng Zhen exhaled deeply in relief. With the tension released, the rush of adrenaline faded, unleashing the exhaustion accumulated over three grueling days.

The instant his guard dropped, darkness clouded his vision, and he collapsed heavily to the ground. Du Beiye, witnessing this, disengaged her mobile suit function and hurried to his side for assessment.

After hearing Krayan’s report, Du Beiye breathed easier and hoisted him onto her back. Upon their return to base, the sentries and healers remained occupied with cleanup duties.

Despite the base's full commitment to the fray, losses were unavoidable, and numerous mutants bore wounds.

Soon after, a broadcast echoed through the loudspeakers.
