Zombie Apocalypse: Reborn With A Farming Space Chapter 827: Under Attack ( 3 )

The thunderous slap of a slipper striking the earth resounded across the region, trailed by the gruesome noise of an object mashed into oblivion. The soil quivered from the force, carving out a slipper-formed depression right below the fearsome tool.
Jiao Lizhi and Du Beiye stood frozen in shock. The whole Matkuna Army froze in astonishment. The sentinels and Mutants observing from the fourth wall froze too.
For over ten seconds, neither humans nor insects stirred, as the zone plunged into a prolonged hush like a scene halted by an invisible switch.
Only when the Matkuna Commander unleashed a furious roar and hurled multiple venomous orbs her way did Jiao Lizhi snap back to reality.
She sprang back swiftly, narrowly evading the assault.
Psh! Pshh! Pssh!!
The atmosphere grew heavy with a pungent acidic aroma, while the earth blackened rapidly.
Regaining his wits, Du Beiye yelled, "Sister, your new weapon is so strong. Continue beating them into a pulp!"
Bolstered by her sibling's words, Jiao Lizhi restored her boldness. Brushing aside her shame over wielding a slipper in combat, she brandished her armament with alarming velocity.
SMACK! SMACK! SMACK!
CRASH! CRACK! CRASH!
A noise akin to shattering plastic rang out as she bounded about ferociously. Each strike claimed a life!
Maybe ingrained in their instincts, the Matkuna troops recoiled from her armament and refused to approach her closely.
As they drew within 100 meters of the fourth wall, an odd protective radius of 20 meters encircled Jiao Lizhi. While Du Beiye evaded strikes from the Matkuna warriors, Jiao Lizhi pursued them relentlessly.
Observing this bizarre yet thrilling spectacle, the spirits of the guards and mutants lifted dramatically.
"They are just bugs! There is nothing to be afraid of! Everyone, get ready to attack!" Wu Zimo bellowed.
In response, the mutants swiftly assembled into groups based on their power types.
"Open the gate! Metal-type mutants create a wall. Let the bugs in one by one!" Xun Che commanded.
Obeying his directive, the guards swung the entrance wide, and metal-wielders hastily erected a barrier 100 meters out. It resembled a sealed enclosure, featuring merely two narrow openings on the front's left and right flanks.
This setup prevented the insects from flanking the mutants rearward. Through those two slits, at most two or four Matkuna fighters could pass simultaneously. The bulkier Matkuna captains and Commander proved too massive to squeeze inside.
Once the barrier stood firm, the combatants drew their arms and positioned themselves behind it, poised for foes. Support mages lingered in the rear to aid the front-liners, while others perched atop the structure for distant strikes.
Lacking special powers, brawlers supported from the rear lines. Healers focused on mending injuries, hauling the hurt, shuttling goods, and handing out resources.
Soon after positions were set, Du Beiye and Jiao Lizhi reached the wall.
Jiao Lizhi climbed onto the rampart to aid the mages, as Du Beiye merged with the combatants to clash directly against the Matkuna foes.
"Attack!"
At Xun Che’s signal, the mutants loosed their barrages in rapid succession.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
A barrage of fireballs plummeted onto the Matkuna ranks, chased by iron lances, timber spikes, and lightning blasts. The earth shuddered under the onslaught, and the heavens blazed with vivid hues.
With a casual wave from Jiao Lizhi, the enormous slipper shrank into a wristlet. Instantly after, she lifted her arm to summon a colossal sphere of water.
All eyes turned to her, puzzled by her intent. As she launched the orb toward the insects, onlookers dismissed it as pointless.
Regardless of its size, a water blob couldn't inflict real damage. Astonishingly, it detonated on impact.
BOOM!
The blast wiped out a horde of Matkuna soldiers. Just when observers believed the maneuver concluded, suspended water beads lingered in the atmosphere.
Another gesture sent the beads hurtling at nearby Matkuna troops, embedding into their forms.
Crack! Crack! Crack!
As the group beheld this, comprehension dawned: those beads outmatched steel projectiles in hardness, effortlessly breaching the bugs' tough exteriors.
Simultaneously, a dark vapor unfurled across the surface.
The shadowy fog slithered low along the dirt, evading detection. By the time it registered, over 100 Matkuna soldiers had dissolved into viscous black sludge.
Perched at the wall's brink, Mo Junjie masterfully directed the dark fog. Following Du Beiye's DNA fix and his recent ascent to level 5, his command of the toxic haze had surged exponentially.
Freed from constant agony, he discovered his power perfectly fit him.
He relished watching the insects convulse in torment as their frames liquefied gradually. The thrill surpassed any joy from research triumphs after endless toil.
So immersed in his domain, he overlooked how nearby mutants and guards had retreated over 10 meters. Their gazes held unmistakable dread and revulsion.
Even the ladies once smitten by his allure now viewed him with terror alone, stripped of any warmth toward his serene grin.
"How could he smile like an angel when he did something so horrible?" one mutant murmured, incredulous.
