Upon hearing Du Beiye's grievance, Mo Junjie pondered briefly before responding, "That's not out of the question. However, with no internet access available, how would you transmit the data?"
"Krayan links directly to the Base's central system. Transmitting the data would only take mere seconds," Du Beiye answered offhandedly.
This revelation didn't catch Mo Junjie off guard. Considering how her system could produce in-depth analyses from just a single drop of blood, infiltrating the base's core network seemed hardly noteworthy.
"In that case, transmit the data straight to the Commander."
Relieved as if granted amnesty, Du Beiye let out a deep breath. No longer required to produce physical copies of the reports, she could escape those endless nights trapped in the lab.
The scanning of all blood samples was complete; the holdup had been generating the report. Freed from the printing obligation, she could wrap up her assignment in under a minute.
"Krayan, forward the reports to the Base's main system."
Twenty seconds passed before the robotic voice resounded in her thoughts once more,
Du Beiye glanced at Mo Junjie and announced, "It's finished." Rising to her feet, she extended her stiff limbs and exited the chamber. "I'll head over to see Lingshen."
"If exhaustion is setting in, head back for some rest. I'll return once I've wrapped things up here," Mo Junjie advised her.
"Alright."
Left by himself, Mo Junjie placed a call. As soon as it connected, he stated, "Vice Commander Wen, the blood sample data has been loaded into the main system. You can access it right away."
Wen Hanli froze at his statement. After a brief pause, he inquired, "Professor Mo, what method did you use to upload the data?"
Typically, uploads to the main system occurred through manual input. This marked the initial instance of data being added remotely, without server proximity.
"We've got our methods. No need for you to worry about the details. At any rate, our job is done. Remember to transfer the payment to our accounts."
He ended the call without awaiting Wen Hanli's reply and departed the room. Prior to going, he stopped by his office to process a few documents.
In the meantime, Du Beiye lingered outside Mo Lingshen’s quarters, scanning the information displayed on the azure interface.
Having reviewed the details, Du Beiye responded, "We'll hold off a bit longer. She could take the serum at this point, but the odds of it working remain far too slim."
With her decision firm, Krayan fell silent. She remained there for several additional minutes prior to departing.
Exiting the laboratory, Du Beiye stopped at the cafeteria for a meal before heading back to Mo Junjie’s residence. Fresh from her shower and settled on the bed, a abrupt alert jolted her awake.
Du Beiye bolted upright and commanded, "Display the position."
Instantly, a holographic blue panel materialized before her, featuring a pulsing red marker on the navigational grid. Even before she could exit the apartment, a swarm of violet indicators began flooding the display.
Observing the violet markers multiplying rapidly, Du Beiye ordered, "Engage combat protocol."
In the blink of an eye, her attire transformed into combat gear. She flung open the window, vaulted outside, and positioned herself on the roof. Propelling forward, she dashed northeast.
Reaching the fourth barrier, she found her sibling already present. Spotting her approach, Jiao Lizhi declared, "I've notified Commander Xun. It'll take them a minimum of 15 minutes to mobilize for combat. Until then, we must hold back the insect horde."
Du Beiye gave a nod. "Onward."
Grasping her sister's hand, Jiao Lizhi vanished from sight in the next instant, the pair rematerializing suspended above the dimensional gateway.
As they descended, Du Beiye instructed, "Krayan, initiate the portable armor sequence."
Within five seconds, an enormous mechanized suit materialized and crashed down with a thunderous impact.
BOOM!
Beneath it, a vast crater formed. The earth splintered, slick with pulverized insect remains and viscous purple ichor.
Before the Matkuna forces could respond, Jiao Lizhi bounded from the suit's shoulder, gripping a colossal ebony sickle.
Twirling mid-air, she slashed the weapon at an angle. Abruptly, razor-sharp, expansive water arcs curved outward, hurtling toward the Matkuna ranks with blinding velocity.
Wush~ BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Taken aback, hordes of the massive creatures perished within ten heartbeats.
At last comprehending the assault, a hulking insect armored in obsidian parted its jaws, emitting a shrill cry.
"Kiiitttt!!"
Jiao Lizhi registered Gaia's transmission resonating within her psyche, the vertigo fading swiftly.
Lacking a mechanized suit like her sister's, the sonic barrage struck her unshielded. Yet, bolstered by the system's intervention, she regained composure sans grave harm.
No sooner had she touched down than she witnessed the advancing foes disintegrate under a barrage of laser fire from overhead. Recognizing her sibling's onslaught, Jiao Lizhi veered off course.
She needed to evade the strike zone. Staying within it would hamper her sister's full offensive potential.
While the duo clashed with the Matkuna invaders, an ever-growing tide of insects emerged from the rift. Noticing this, Jiao Lizhi yelled, "Beiye, obliterate the gateway!"
