“His punishment should be death, Yuyan,” a familiar voice interjected, causing her to turn. Jared also opened his eyes. “Why are you here instead of resting?” she inquired, her displeasure evident. “I suppose I missed you,” Lu Lijun responded, approaching the sofa where she was seated, his attention solely fixed on her. “I was going to finish this in a moment and return to you straight away,” she stated, but he extended his hand. “Give it to me.” “I haven’t finished playing with it yet,” she retorted, keeping the gun close and glancing at Jared. “Look, his forehead is still as unmarked as white marble, unlike your bandaged one.” Lu Lijun let out a chuckle, finding her appearance amusing even in her assertive state. “I’ll permit you to obliterate his entire brain, but first, let him experience the true depths of desiring death – and then regretting ever crossing our path.” “You have a plan?” she questioned, raising an eyebrow. He hummed affirmatively. “Now, hand it over.” Entrusting him, Jiang Yuyan surrendered the firearm, observing as he took hold of it. Her gaze remained on his hands as she commented, “You know, that gun looks quite alluring in your grasp.” Lu Lijun chuckled and settled beside her on the sofa, drawing her into his embrace. One arm encircled her waist, while the other held the gun. He gently pressed the weapon beneath her chin, tilting her face upwards to meet his gaze. “I believe the most captivating sight in the world is you when you are beneath me.” “Is that so?” she asked, seemingly unconcerned by the man seated before them, observing. He hummed in reply, bringing his face closer to hers. He playfully tugged at her lips with his teeth. “I am eager to take you home and demonstrate just how alluring you can be.” “I anticipate it,” she whispered against his lips. “I hope you aren’t too injured.” “These minor wounds will not prevent me from consuming you and exhausting you until…” “Shh!” She placed a finger on his lips. “Save that for later. Let’s deal with him first.” Jared watched the couple with disbelief, uncertain of how to react. How could they be flirting in such a situation? Lu Lijun glanced at Jared, his arm still firmly around Yuyan’s waist. “Hey, Jared, don’t fret. My wife won’t kill you – not yet, anyway. But soon enough, you’ll be the one pleading with her to. For now, sit back and enjoy the most captivating spectacle of your life – one that will remain with you, even in death.” Jared scoffed. “Do you truly believe I am afraid of you or your hollow pronouncements?” “You will be, shortly,” Lu Lijun stated calmly. “And don’t bother contacting anyone. All your men have been neutralized by mine.” He then called out, “Noah?” Noah entered the drawing-room, carrying a file and a device. Without a word, he proceeded directly to the television, connected the device, and powered it on before handing the file to Lu Lijun. Jiang Yuyan glanced at the file and was about to take it, but Lu Lijun gently restrained her, holding her hand. “That’s not for you to see. Your focus should be solely on me.” She regarded the file with a complex expression but eventually withdrew her hand. Lu Lijun redirected his attention to Jared, who appeared composed, though clearly watchful of the unfolding events. Noah activated the television and stepped aside. In the ensuing moment, a familiar visage materialized on the screen, leaving Jared astonished. A beautiful, blonde girl, approximately twelve years old, ambled through what appeared to be an deserted school, seemingly lost or in search of someone. “Sara?” Jared exclaimed, his eyes flicking towards Lu Lijun. “What are you concocting? If you dare lay a hand on her, I swear…” “Settle down, Jared. I haven’t done anything thus far, but if you refuse to sit quietly and observe the entire spectacle, I might instruct my associates to finish her immediately,” Lu Lijun cautioned. Slam! Lu Lijun tossed a file onto the central coffee table. “Review this document, and you will comprehend precisely what fate awaits your daughter from this point forward.” Jiang Yuyan, taken aback by this turn of events, turned to Lu Lijun, her gaze filled with concern. “Lijun, what are you doing? Why involve his daughter?” “He needs to grasp the suffering you endured back then. He must cease his foolish pretense and recognize the monstrous nature of his brother towards you,” Lu Lijun replied, his voice laced with cold determination, devoid of any leniency. Jiang Yuyan found this deeply unsettling. She could not endorse it. “Lijun, no. I cannot permit you to inflict harm upon any girl in this manner. I would rather—” “Have faith in me,” Lu Lijun interrupted, his gaze calm and captivating. “After this, he will cease bothering us. He needs to experience the pain you felt.”
Her gaze was fixed on his, a profound conflict evident within her. Despite his seemingly cold and unyielding demeanor, he remained her Lijun—a man incapable of truly abandoning his principles.
"Do not fret," he reassured her.
Meanwhile, Jared, his heart heavy with each passing word, sifted through the contents of the file. It contained a thorough account of the incidents involving Jiang Yuyan in the past.
"Examine it closely, Jared," Lu Lijun's voice dripped with mockery. "Commit every detail within this report to memory, so you will have no grounds for complaint later. I have no desire for you to claim something was overlooked, such as your daughter having only three ribs broken instead of four. I certainly don't wish for you to accuse me of neglecting to count one.
Jared looked up from the document, his jaw clenched in utter fury. "Lu Lijun," he snarled, "you are not permitted to subject my daughter to this. Release her at once."
"Your brother showed Yuyan no leniency, and subsequently, your father inflicted the same upon my brother. The concept of 'release' holds no meaning for us any longer," Lu Lijun retorted. "Had your father acknowledged his son's transgression and moved past it, or had you admitted your brother's and then your father's wrongdoing and let it go, perhaps the circumstances would be vastly different. But alas, no. Your family seems to delight in prolonging conflicts, so I am merely reciprocating the treatment."
"You are incapable of doing so."
"On the contrary, I am entirely capable," Lu Lijun stated, raising an eyebrow. "And are you, by any chance, able to prevent me?"
