Yandere Levelling in Her World Chapter 204 - 205: Beginning of a hunt
Previously on Yandere Levelling in Her World...
Moments before, the heavens above the vast cityscape had presented a terrifying spectacle, a magnificent blend of brilliant gold and deep crimson. Ren found himself utterly immobilized on the fractured concrete of the sidewalk.
His gaze was fixed skyward, his intellect grappling with the sheer impossibility of the vista. The immense scale of the colors evoked a profound sense of an impending global cataclysm.
However, as abruptly as it had manifested, the majestic yet dreadful colors began to recede. The uncanny luminescence faded, yielding to the somber, ordinary tones of the receding twilight.
A hush gradually fell over the city's panicked inhabitants. Residents ceased their frantic pointing at the heavens and their desperate flight. They began to seek rational explanations for the terrifying occurrence they had just witnessed.
Ren overheard their hushed conversations, their gestures towards the now-clear sky, and their murmurs attributing the event to an unusual lightning storm. The pervasive ignorance of the populace was almost humorous, yet Ren lacked the capacity for laughter or even a faint smile at that moment.
Despite the sky's return to normalcy, the streets remained in utter disarray. The initial wave of panic had forced everyone from their homes and offices.
Consequently, thousands who had evacuated their dwellings and workplaces now thronged the thoroughfares and walkways, forming a vast, suffocating human tide. Vehicle movement had ground to a complete halt. Cars sat abandoned in the middle of road junctions. The incessant blare of horns pierced the night air, compounding the overwhelming cacophony emanating from the restless throng.
Snapping out of his stupor, Ren initiated movement. An immediate departure was imperative. He began to navigate through the immense crowds, forcefully clearing a path past bewildered pedestrians.
Anna followed closely behind him. She moved through the pandemonium with an almost supernatural elegance, her gaze solely fixed upon his presence. She pursued him much like a moth is drawn to an ardent, blazing flame.
Regardless of how many shoulders Ren jostled or how many indignant pedestrians cursed him for his shoves, he couldn't dislodge her from his pursuit.
A throbbing pain pulsed intensely in his head. It transcended a mere headache, manifesting as a relentless onslaught of dire warnings echoing within his skull. His instincts were blaring at their absolute maximum volume.
Every nerve fiber in his body felt alight, signaling extreme peril and the imminent threat of a grim demise.
"Ren! Stop running away from me this instant!" Anna's voice pierced the deafening clamor of the panicked masses.
Her voice sliced through the urban din, sounding remarkably sharp and commanding.
Ren resolutely disregarded her cries. He continued to forge a path through the dense populace, employing his entire physique to propel himself forward. He traversed block after block, adeptly evading abandoned vehicles and weaving through dense clusters of frightened individuals.
He did not cease his flight until he had successfully extricated himself from the main body of the crowd. He reached a secluded, darkened side street far removed from the primary thoroughfare. There, he halted, stooping and placing his hands on his knees to draw a deep, parched breath.
Anna caught up to him with remarkable celerity. Before Ren could fully recover his breath or straighten up, Anna lunged. With swift action, she shoved Ren backward against the cold, rough bricks of an adjacent, aged building.
Displaying astonishing speed and formidable physical prowess, she seized both his hands, pinning them securely against the abrasive brickwork above his head.
She closed the distance between them, exerting her full body weight to maintain his immobility. Her gaze locked intently with his. Her expression was utterly inscrutable, oscillating between overt anger and profound desperation.
Then, her tone underwent a drastic transformation. It deepened, resonating with a peculiar and unsettling cadence. She had activated her command-granting ability.
"You will not leave me again," Anna uttered, her voice practically vibrating against his chest.
Ren felt a peculiar wave of energy course through his mind, attempting to subjugate his body into complete compliance. Yet, the energy simply dissipated, vanishing without effect. Ren regarded her with a peculiar, disengaged stare. He neither blinked nor resisted her restraining grip.
"It will not work on me now," Ren murmured softly, his voice utterly devoid of discernible emotion.
Anna emitted a sharp gasp. Her eyes widened in sheer astonishment as the realization dawned upon her. The magical compulsion had utterly failed.
She immediately released his hands and stepped back, faltering slightly. Clutching her head with both hands, she dug her fingers deep into her hair.
"Ren, I am so sorry," Anna stammered, her voice trembling uncontrollably. "I do not understand what I am doing. I truly do not know what is wrong with me." She appeared profoundly bewildered by her own sudden actions and her uncharacteristic aggression.
Before Ren could even utter a word in response to her apology, the shadows within the dark alleyway adjacent to them began to stir. Ren observed a distinct silhouette of a woman materializing from the deepest recess of the narrow passage.
Ren immediately narrowed his eyes, attempting to discern her features amidst the poor lighting. As the figure advanced slowly, the dim streetlamp cast an illumination upon her face. He registered fiery red hair. He recognized a visage that was startlingly familiar to him.
Absolute terror seized his entire being. Ren swiftly retreated from the alleyway, pressing his back firmly against the rough brick wall. His breathing grew shallow and rapid.
Anna, perceiving the raw fear radiating from Ren's eyes, ceased cradling her head and turned abruptly.
She immediately positioned herself directly in front of Ren, using her own body as a shield against whatever lurked in the darkness.
Ren peered over Anna's shoulder, scrutinizing the mysterious woman more closely. To his profound astonishment, he discerned that the terrifying figure before him was actually weeping.
"Faceless Woman," Ren breathed, his voice quivering with a blend of dread and utter disbelief.
Anna possessed scant knowledge of that moniker. She had only encountered fragmented, chilling rumors concerning the entity known as the Faceless Woman. However, witnessing Ren's palpable terror served as all the confirmation she required. Without a moment's hesitation,
"Leave us at once!" Anna bellowed at the top of her lungs, fully unleashing her command-bestowing power once more. The sheer resonance of her voice reverberated down the entire street.
The command struck the woman with formidable impact. The woman abruptly ceased her advance, freezing completely in place.
Ren seized this opportune moment for a more thorough observation. He could plainly see heavy tears streaming from her eyes, tracing paths down her pale cheeks before falling onto her attire.
Yet, before Anna could react or attempt to issue another command, the terrifying woman broke free from the restraint.
In an instant, the woman surged forward with phenomenal speed. Her movement was so extraordinarily swift that she appeared as a mere blur in the gloom.
She collided with Anna with overwhelming physical force. Anna was propelled entirely off her feet. She was sent hurtling backward like a tennis ball struck by a professional, soaring down the deserted street until she impacted the hard pavement with a heavy thud.
The woman halted her charge instantaneously, standing directly before Ren. Ren wore an expression of profound disgust and extreme discomfort. He longed to flee, but his legs remained immobile.
She extended her hand and firmly grasped Ren's.
"Come, we should depart," she murmured, her voice sounding peculiar and hollow.
However, Ren remained steadfast, not budging from his position. He anchored his feet firmly to the ground, displaying his recently augmented strength. He effortlessly repelled her pull, refusing to be dragged into the encroaching darkness.
Arakawa Mei, who was indeed the legendary Faceless Woman, observed his resolute demeanor. She leaned in closer, her face mere inches from his, and whispered softly.
"You are in grave peril, child. Accompany me. I shall elucidate everything that is transpiring."
Ren remained frozen for a considerable duration. His gaze shifted from the spot where Anna had fallen to the tear-streaked face of Arakawa Mei.
He harbored significant hesitation. Ultimately, however, he relinquished the tension in his muscles and allowed Mei to lead him away into the deep shadows. For despite his terror, he harbored a desperate yearning to comprehend the unfolding events.
And by this juncture, it was unequivocally clear to him that this enigmatic, weeping woman would, at the very least, refrain from causing him conventional harm.
Meanwhile, a horrifying spectacle of calamitous destruction was commencing far distant on the tumultuous sea.
The colossal red monstrosity wreaked havoc within the deep waters. The beast was decimating the Lan base with pure, unbridled fury. This represented a level of wrath previously unseen.
Immense steel structures were being pulverized as if they were delicate playthings, and towering concrete walls were being reduced to fragments.
The scene was utter pandemonium. Witness the beast's unrestrained frenzy upon the ocean. It thrashed its gargantuan form, generating colossal waves that battered the remaining remnants. Several of its enormous limbs, severed during the preceding brutal engagement, had undergone peculiar mutations.
The detached sections of flesh had transformed into grotesque, crab-like entities. These repulsive new creatures were now rapidly scuttling out of the water, dispersing throughout the entire area to inflict even greater devastation and terror.
However, as the giant red monster attempted to retreat from the utterly devastated Lan base, an extraordinary occurrence transpired. Suddenly, its massive abdomen began to emanate a brilliant, blinding golden luminescence.
A blinding golden radiance intensified, ultimately erupting outwards in a colossal shockwave. The monster's flesh was violently ripped apart, revealing a divinely beautiful angel emerging from the luminous wound.
The gargantuan crimson beast had already suffered severe debilitation from the relentless combat and prior injuries. This crucial weakness enabled the glorious angelic sister to finally achieve complete liberation from her corporeal confinement.
The angel ascended, suspended in the air above the tempestuous waters. Her exquisite eyes scanned every direction, absorbing the chaotic devastation of the oceanic base.
Subsequently, her gaze focused with particular intensity upon the colossal red monster. She peered deeply into the creature's massive eye, an eye now brimming with immense, flowing tears.
One final glance at the dark, churning ocean water was cast by the angel. Then, the beautiful seraph took swift flight. She ascended vertically into the inky sky with astonishing velocity, vanishing completely into the lofty clouds above, leaving the weeping behemoth utterly solitary amidst the ravaged sea.
Meanwhile, far removed from the devastated base, a small, sharply angled rock jutted defiantly from the violent ocean swells.
Chiyo surfaced from the dark waters, hauling herself onto the slick, jagged stone. She was dragging something immensely heavy along with her – the lifeless body of a man. The cadaver presented a ghastly spectacle, resembling a desiccated husk utterly devoid of life and vitality.
With considerable effort, Chiyo dragged the man's body entirely out of the water. Settling onto the rock, she immediately enfolded the dreadful husk in her arms, holding it tightly against her chest as if it were the most cherished treasure in existence.
Chiyo's tears flowed unceasingly, mingling with the briny seawater streaming down her face.
"Idiot, answer me! Do you truly love me? Is our connection genuine, or are we merely a cruel jest?" she wailed into the desolate night.
Her voice, strained with profound sorrow and utter despair, repeatedly echoed these agonizing questions into the void. Yet, the man's husk-like form remained utterly still and unresponsive to her desperate pleas.
Finally ceasing her outcry, Chiyo slowly turned her head, gazing towards the distant horizon. She could discern the location of the colossal red monster, noting that the immense creature had halted its advance, clearly indicating it had grown weary from its destructive rampage.
Chiyo clutched the lifeless form even tighter. Her eyes narrowed as she murmured softly above the roar of the crashing waves.
"Without a physical vessel to inhabit, she places herself in extreme peril," Chiyo whispered, her voice barely audible. "And there exists no other woman in this entire realm capable of possession other than Lan Xinyue or herself."
Gazing down at the dark currents swirling around the isolated rock, Chiyo drew a deep breath. She then uttered one final, desperate admonishment, directed towards an individual not present to receive it.
"So, Meiling," Chiyo breathed, her voice quivering with profound apprehension and unwavering conviction. "Flee. Escape immediately and never cast a backward glance. For should Xinyue become her, all of this effort will ultimately amount to nothing."
