Ron remains wary of Carlos's true intentions despite their cooperation. Carlos reveals that clearing the core levels of the Land of Mirrors is complete, but a final test awaits them before they can return to reality. Meanwhile, the King of Illusions and the King of Absurdity observe from a timeless dimension, discussing Ron's ability to see through Carlos's schemes and lamenting their own roles in manipulating civilizations.

The collapsing arena around suddenly ceased its collapse.

Three distinct keys:

The key of shimmering light representing [emotion resonance], the wrench of fury representing [life creation], and the corridor of wisdom representing [harmonic order], slowly floated up.

The three keys began to slowly rotate around Ron, generating some mysterious resonance between them.

“This phenomenon…” Aselia’s golden eyes widened, “they’re constructing some kind of high-dimensional structure!”

As the resonance grew stronger, the three keys started to weave complex light trajectories in the air.

These trajectories layered and intertwined, ultimately forming a three-dimensional, constantly changing rune lens.

Every surface of the lens reflects different aspects of reality, dazzling like a kaleidoscope.

Ron lifted this “three-phase lens” and peered through it at the seemingly empty void ahead.

In that instant, the world underwent a fundamental transformation.

First, a blurred outline, then gradually clear details, finally…

An awe-inspiring palace slowly emerged from the dimensional concept.

This palace was entirely composed of pure light, every beam, every wall, was solidified starlight.

At the throne at the top of the palace sat a figure radiating stellar grandeur.

When he slightly turned his head, the entire palace seemed to synchronize with him, as if he were the sun of this dimension itself.

“That face…” Ron gazed intently at the features of the Monarch of Light, a sense of familiarity surged in his heart.

He quickly recalled the ancient books he’d read, especially those historical records on the legacy of the “Creator.”

In “Legacy of the Annulled Ages,” Gould had once meticulously described the portrait of the Creator’s foremost disciple—the “King of Perfection,” Hephis:

“Eyebrows sharp as if carved by a blade, eyes deep as the night sky, nose high and sculpted, lips always hinting at a transcendent smile…”

The more Ron looked, the more he felt the resemblance between the Monarch of Light and the description in the ancient books.

Especially that transcendent aura, it was practically identical.

“Carlos.” He called in his consciousness to the newly tamed Time Hound:

“What do you know about this place?”

From the silver pocket watch came Carlos’s steady response:

“Based on the partial information I’ve gained as Guardian, this is actually the manifestation of the outer part of the ‘Artisan Maze.’

“And that Monarch of Light is the legendary obsessive embodiment of the Creator’s chief disciple—the ‘King of Perfection,’ Hephis.”

Carlos’s voice carried weight:

“To be precise, this can no longer be considered Hephis himself, more like his ‘pure concept’ separated during his pursuit of ultimate perfection.”

“An abnormal existence trapped in the perfect cage he created, for over a century…”

Just as Ron was processing this information, the Monarch of Light on the throne slowly spoke.

“Challenger. You’ve passed the selection, proving your qualification to contact true ‘creation.'”

The Monarch of Light stood up from the throne, and the palace’s light fluctuated with his movement, like the tides in a sea of stars:

“Now, I present you with the final trial—eradicate the last shadow in my kingdom.”

He extended a hand, pointing to a particular spot below the throne.

Ron followed his finger and saw a puzzling scene there:

Amidst the boundless light, within this supposedly absolutely perfect kingdom, there existed a small yet extremely deep darkness.

That shadow seemed like a black hole in the ocean of light, insignificant yet stubbornly refusing to be dispelled by any illumination.

Forming a jarring contrast with the endless light surrounding.

“If you can eliminate this shadow, I will recognize you as a true ‘artisan’ and impart all the knowledge I’ve acquired through my life to you.”

The Monarch of Light’s eyes glimmered with anticipation:

“For thousands of years, countless challengers have failed this test. Will you succeed?”

Nari stood vigilantly behind Ron:

“Dear, I feel something amiss… that shadow seems very strange, as if it’s more than just simple darkness.”

Aselia similarly furrowed her brows:

“The Dragon Race’s intuition tells me that it’s some kind of ‘essential reflection.’ Perhaps, it’s a projection from the depths of the ‘King of Perfection’s heart.”

Ron gazed at the stubborn shadow, his mind racing.

As a Historian, he had a keen insight into the deeper meanings of various fables.

Moreover, he had heard the complete story of “Solar Monarch and the Land of Mirrors” from the Extraordinary Comprehensive Guide.

This was evidently a different rendition of the same philosophical theme.

The traditional answer was obvious—the dialectical relation of light and shadow, perfection and imperfection coexist.

Any scholar with basic philosophical training could give the standard “sage’s answer.”

Ron didn’t attempt to use Magic or rush into action.

He simply walked calmly forward, faced the awe-inspiring Monarch of Light, and slowly spoke:

“Your Majesty, I’m sorry I cannot fulfill your request.”

This statement silenced the entire palace of light.

Hephis’s light fluctuated slightly, seemingly waiting for him to elaborate.

“Because your greatest achievement was not creating this shadow-less realm.”

Ron’s voice resonated clearly within the palace of light:
