"The Star Gods are born powerful due to their creation by the primordial spirit; in essence, they share the same nature as high-ranking demons or Nether Emperors. They are not constructs born purely of faith, so belief is not a requirement for their survival.
While a lack of belief might cause them to weaken, it won't lead to their demise. If one were to define a true 'God,' the Star God is the only one who fits the description.
In the modern era, those beings are merely False Gods. However, the Star God is now frequently referred to as an 'Old God' or 'Ancient God.' In the eyes of the astral world's orthodox deities, they are even branded as 'outer gods' or 'evil gods.'
Levi's heart raced as he processed this information. He had always suspected that something was amiss regarding the current deities of the astral world, but he hadn't imagined they were not native to it. The entity he reached out to through the 'Rune Language' was the actual True God.
To Levi, this felt like the ideal state of belief. I follow your path, and in return, you grant me your favor.
But if I choose not to believe, there are no consequences. You won't retaliate. There is no coercion or forced worship!
It appeared that the long-lost Starforger Civilization was likely the final culture to worship star beasts. Throughout Levi's later investigations and his journeys across multidimensional planes, he had never encountered another sign of these creatures.
The 'Rune Language' he had mastered represented one of the rare remaining links to the star beasts. Since it might prove advantageous in the future, he committed himself to continue its cultivation.
If he could establish a connection with these beings and then develop a more efficient method of communication than the 'Language of Stars' or 'Rune Language,' it would greatly benefit Nora.
Ultimately, this was an elective path rather than a mandatory one.In short, it was entirely up to him!
With a sigh, Levi ventured a question:
"Senior, are you aware of where the star beasts might be located?"
The middle-aged man gave a slow shake of his head.
"I am uncertain as well. The universe is vast, and certain entities possess unique methods of concealment. If they do not wish to be found, most will never see them in their entire lives. However, there is still one star beast known to be active within the astral world.
Its name is Creno Ode, also called the 'Power Star God' or the 'Righteous Charger.' It is said that since its birth, it has completed a circuit around the astral world once every ten thousand years with perfect stability. It never stops and never veers from its path.
It remains one of the few star beasts the gods haven't hunted... those beings simply use it as the astral world's clock.
There is also the corpse of a massive serpent on Creno Ode, known as the 'Forgotten Snake' or the 'Hidden Giant Snake.' It was a star beast once, but it was killed while trying to cross Creno Ode's path and now remains snagged on its horn. I suspect there was some sort of personal grudge involved."
Levi suddenly understood. The astral soul he had been summoning was effectively the manifested power of these star beasts. Even the names were an exact match.
It was no wonder that the 'Hermit Rune' had hit a wall at the Third Level, with even his proficiency panel unable to force a breakthrough.
Because this was a path rooted in belief, if the source of that belief died, the path would naturally reach its end. His ability to reach the third level was likely only possible because of lingering divine power.
As more time passed and that power faded, it might eventually become impossible even to begin cultivation. After reaching the ninth-circle, Levi had experimented with other rune languages and found that most were impossible to start, while others, like the Hermit Rune, stalled halfway.
Everything was becoming clear now.
Feeling perplexed, Levi asked: "Where did these parasitic gods come from? Surely they didn't just appear out of thin air."
The middle-aged man gazed toward the heavens. He pointed toward the highest reaches of the sky and spoke:
"The astral world did not nurture these gods. However, the entity capable of spawning such twisted belief constructs must also be a primordial spirit. My research suggests that shortly after the birth of the astral world, it was invaded by a being known as the 'Star-devouring Worm.' This creature consumed the Power of Star Realm and hunted most of the star beasts to extinction.
Furthermore, it cultivated followers within the astral world who were loyal to it. These beings continued to hunt star beasts and harvest the power of belief across the universe, leading to a rapid expansion of their numbers. These are the gods that rule the astral world today.
I classify the 'Star-devouring Worm' as the 'Conqueror,' while I view those gods as mere parasites. They are the current masters of the realm, meaning the astral world is essentially comprised of two primordial spirits. However, the original 'Star Cluster Brain' has been subjugated.
While the arrival of the Star-devouring Seed and these new deities ruined the initial designs of the Land of Darkness, it was discovered that these new gods were better suited for governing multidimensional planes and resisting the Nightmare World. Consequently, during the Ancient Era, the astral world saw a sudden rise as numerous Gods manifested.
Among the seven orthodox gods of your Nora, five were born during that period, while only two appeared at the end of the ancient era. They are even younger than I am. Would you like to know their identities?"
Levi answered with a calm expression: "The Lord of the Stars and the King of Ten Thousand Dragons."
The middle-aged man’s brief flash of pride vanished. He looked at Levi with a hint of surprise and let out a laugh:
"It appears you have already uncovered some of the hidden truths regarding the Double Dragon Empire."
