Wizard starting from shoeing donkeys Chapter 1625 - 562: Falling One After Another

Previously on Wizard starting from shoeing donkeys...
The black beam from the ancient Goblin Sage Tamriel struck the Devouring Snake's massive avatar, contaminating its rear section and forcing it to sever the tail, which slithered to guard its master. As Tamriel turned his assault toward the Nether Sea Goddess Hela, her ally's arrow fell short, but Rein's dark silver metal disc intercepted the beam just in time, shielding her from corruption. Unfazed by Hela's cold rebuff, Rein summoned five more discs that sliced through Tamriel's vortex shield, dismembering the sage and confining the surging demon energy within unyielding metal bounds. With a knowing smile, Rein remarked to the stunned goddess that her downfall, if it came, would be by his hand alone.

At this very moment, confronting Rein, the divine projections of the gods couldn't help but feel a touch of anxiety.

Each descent of an avatar draws a small portion from the true divine core. While a mere projection might drain just a fraction of a ten-thousandth, or perhaps up to one-thousandth at worst.

Yet for a full avatar, that drain climbs all the way to one percent.

Performing this too many times would seriously hinder the main body's path to resurrection, which explains why the gods dread losing their avatars.

While the divine projections mulled over Rein's words about 'waste...', he offered no further explanation and simply lifted his arm in a swift motion, launching his maximum-strength Fifth Level witchcraft 'High-frequency Cutting' straight at the gods.

The devastating strike that had obliterated Great Sage Tamriel returned in a flash!

Five massive dark silver discs hummed and gleamed as they hurtled toward the divine avatars.

"Quick! Split up!" The God of Hunting Luen, who feared Rein the most, yelled out first.

During their clash with the Fiend Demon earlier, the gods' avatars had already burned through a good deal of their power. Now up against Rein, capable of effortlessly taking down Demigod Level Fiend Demons, they had zero interest in fighting.

Still, the deities figured that since Rein stood alone, he couldn't chase them all down. If losing one avatar meant the other six could survive, that trade-off seemed more than acceptable.

As for who among them would be the sacrifice, it all came down to their personal power and rank.

The God of Hunting Luen and the Nether Sea Goddess Hela smartly bolted in the same direction alongside the Devouring Snake.

This was because the wounded Devouring Snake moved a tad slower than usual.

These three captured the essence of an old proverb: 'when a tiger attacks, you don't have to outpace the beast—just your fellow travelers.'

Neither the God of Hunting Luen nor the Nether Sea Goddess Hela could evade the dark silver discs entirely, but they both surged ahead of the Devouring Snake, their forms blurring as they pulled in front of it.

As a result, the Devouring Snake, lagging at the rear, suddenly found itself staring down three of those dark silver discs with its enormous serpentine eyes!

And so...

"Roar!!!"

A agonized bellow escaped the massive Devouring Snake, freezing it in place right then.

Next, its sturdy form started to waver and dissolve, until nothing remained but a palm-sized, slightly cracked dark red crystal bobbing gently in the air.

As Rein drew near, the shadowy outline of a colossal serpent inside the crystal snarled savagely at him.

At the same time.

The remaining two dark silver discs cleanly dispatched two more divine avatars, while the mightier Evil God Grek and the cloaked Evil God burst through the metal roof of the third underground floor, desperately fleeing upward to the second level.

"So this must be the Divine Fragment of the Devouring Snake."

Rein moved closer and quickly snatched up the Divine Fragments from the Devouring Snake and the two slain Evil Gods, deciding against absorbing them right away and instead stowing them safely before casually pursuing the rest.

....

"Curse it! How did this human advance so swiftly!"

"On top of that, the strength and mastery of his Fifth Level witchcraft don't resemble those of a fresh Full Moon Wizard at all—it's more like the work of a veteran Full Moon Wizard!"

As the God of Hunting Luen fled, memories of Rein wiping out the Fiend Demon avatar and the Devouring Snake flooded his mind, filling his gaze with uncontrollable dread.

But the moment he pushed hard to shatter the metal barrier of the third underground level and enter the second, a enormous figure matching his own bulk slammed into him unexpectedly.

Luen hit the ground hard and looked up to see that a uncommon Steel Dragon had blocked his path.

In truth, the pair of dragons, Sword Saint Terrio, and their four companions had lain in wait the whole time.

With the ambushers ready and the escaping divine avatars caught off guard, the trap sprung perfectly!

Meanwhile, Black Dragon Metheus targeted Evil God Grek's head the instant he appeared, blasting him with a Shadow Breath!

The others—Sword Saint Terrio, Haleem, the Ogre, and Otto—whose powers were a bit lesser, teamed up against the more known Nether Sea Goddess Hela.

Just the hooded male deity broke free and reached the first underground level without interference.

Yet upon arriving at the ground floor, he came face-to-face with the three Federation Fire Element Dawn Wizards stationed there.

In that heartbeat, the two groups locked eyes!

The very next instant, the unforeseen foes collided in battle!

"You three insignificant pests, how dare you attempt to waylay me!"

The hooded deity bellowed in fury and thrust out his hand, releasing a vast cloud of gray mist.

The three Federation Fire Element Dawn Wizards scrambled to defend themselves, but caught off balance, they could only fall back on their basic wizardry barriers.

Blocking the furious assault from a Dawn Peak Level divine avatar proved no simple task, though?

What's more, this hooded deity, idolized by the Plague Sect followers, infused every strike with lethal toxins.

Soon enough, the skin of the three Federation Fire Element Dawn Wizards began to bloat, erupt in blisters, ooze yellow pus, and rapidly fester and dissolve—like wax figures tossed into a blazing furnace, their forms melting away in seconds.

All that lingered on the floor were traces of foul-smelling discharge and scraps of cloth, remnants of their former presence...

By now, Rein had made it to the second underground level.

"Blasphemer, don't get too smug..."

"Chk!"
